Dear Diary, 

Well I can say, I adore Balmoral! We stayed in the castle with Lilibet unlike Charles and Camilla's house which is in need of a sudden roof repair after a leak in the kitchen. 

My bedroom, I feel the need to cry whenever I am in it. Yes it is cosy and is decorated grandly with tartan, mahogany furniture and Scottish decorations, but it has a history that makes me want to sob until there is no tears left in me. You see my bedroom, used to be Diana's. They kept it the way it was since she left it. 

The sheets have never been changed, the windowsills never dusted. However before they could clean it for me, I had them take photographs of everything in it, and I mean EVERYTHING! The dusty windowsills, the crinkled, white sheets, the vase on the sideboard, even inside the old wardrobe that I hoped would lead to Narnia; the whole lot!

Then I told them to keep it the way it was when I arrived. When I arrived, I was just back from riding so I got changed in another room before going in. I put on the black suit I wore to Belgium, (which I brought with me to wear to church) and I walked in carrying a vase of small sunflowers. I sat it on the sideboard, on which I had a photograph of Diana put in a silver frame.

I sat the flowers next to it and sat on the bed. "Well, Your Highness" I smiled. I curtised as if she was actually in front of me. "I know, I have been given this room but I have asked that under your name, that a plate bearing mine be put underneath. I made sure, as did William and Kate that yours was never taken off" I held back my tears. 

Then when I was at dinner, the maids changed the sheets and curtains. I had the old ones that had Diana's DNA on it, placed in a box that I put in my wardrobe. I also made sure the maids wore gloves when taking them off. They looked a bit like forensic detectives, it was actually quite funny. I also made sure, they took a sample of the dust and that was put in the box too. 

All of my sheets are replicas of Dianas. My room is spick and span even though, I didn't want it to be cleaned. But I had to have it cleaned sooner or later. Well that's all for now.
