Part 9
Dear Diary,
Today was Mother's Day and Kate was thoroughly spoiled. Prince William gave Kate some wonderful gifts including a gorgeous ring from Gerrard. William secretly arranged some gifts for George and he even got some for me. When I presented them to Kate, she was really shocked but over the moon. "Dayna I've treated you like a daughter in this past month and I'm really glad" she smiled at me.
Now more Oceania Tour news! Kate is to have her own crown jewels for the tour and I've been given jewellery too! The Queen let Kate and I pick priceless jewellery from Buckingham Palace to take with us! Some things I already have replicas of. I'm taking things such as my shamrock brooch, my replica diamond brooch of the maple leaf one the Queen and Kate wore and replica tiaras of all the Queens and Princesses!
One thing Kate and I were persuaded to take was the Australian wattle brooch that the Queen wore when she visited Australia in 2011. The wattle is the floral emblem of Australia and the brooch itself was a gift from the Australians to the Queen in 1954. We both agreed but then Kate stepped in and I was shocked at this.
"Dayna, you can take the real brooch. I'll have a replica made" Kate grinned and handed me the beautiful brooch. I was gobsmacked! I was wearing the original! Kate grinned and she helped me put it on. "It looks gorgeous on you and I bet you if you wear it with the Oleg Cassini replica coat the Jackie Kennedy wore in 1962 in Mexico, then you'd look twice as good" Kate smiled.
I actually took her advice and tried on the coat with the brooch and she was right. Kate even approved.
Kate and I were also persuaded by the Queen to take the Australian hibiscus brooch and for New Zealand, the vibrant blue pearl brooch, given to the Queen by the New Zealand Prime Minister at Balmoral in September 2013.
We agreed and I got the real hibiscus and Kate got the blue pearl. Kate got a replica hibiscus and you can guess that I got the replica of the blue pearl. Lately both of our jewellery boxes are bulging with originals and replicas! And I've also been looking through everything I could wear with them. For the hibiscus, I've tried on the ivory evening gown made for Mrs Kennedy in 1961 and also the nice red coat she wore on her first Canada visit.
And for the blue pearl, the list is endless. I've combined it with gowns from Cassini and Issa with tiaras and lovely bracelets (including replica Jackie bracelets from Tiffany's) and the colours of yellow, red, green, a tiny bit of turquiose and of course blue! All kinds! Navy, royal and light.
Everything is such a hussle and bussle. Not only am I going out with Kate all of the time to pick out jewellery that a million couldn't buy and be tailored for original outfits bespoked for me, I'm also learning 3 languages and spending quality time with George and with all of that, I usually have to rush these diary entries.
And on the days when we have to be up at 6am to start planning tour dates, outfits, whatever. We usually only get a light breakfast! Honestly, this morning I only had a buttered croissant and a small glass of orange juice and that was to last me until lunch! I don't know how William survives! He this morning survived on a tiny bowl of Frosties and literally a teacup of tea! And then after two hours, he had pickled kale! By God, it stunk!
Kate and I honestly couldn't set foot in the kitchen! So we opened all of the windows but that wasn't good enough! Luckily one of the maids, Mrs Head, was on hand. So she wasted, two full cans of Frebreeze hair fresher, (she walked around the kitchen with what looked like a gas mask because of the smell and sprayed one can at a time) and the smell still wouldn't go away!
So Kate and I are going hungry but William is the only person that can survive the smell so it's like he's been our waitor for today!
