Part 15
Dear Diary,
Today was really good! We visited service personnel and their families at an airbase in Whenuapai near Auckland and later on was even better!
But first the air base. I picked out a good outfit that would look good meeting military. I got a nice coat out of M&S. It is called: 'M&S collection petite, belted captain military coat'. It was a royal blue colour with gold buttons and a matching belt. I didn't wear a hat today.
We left Government House early and flew to Auckland. We landed at the air base at 12:46pm. Once again, Kate and I were given flowers. I was given red roses and I posed for photographs. One service-man's daughter and I took a selfie. We met the airmen in a hangar next to the runway.
We eventually got into a private, what looked like a van. In it there was cubicles with our clothes in it. We got changed in the van. We parked the van at Auckland Harbour. Our clothes we wore earlier were put back on the plane and flown back to Government House and returned to our rooms.
At Auckland Harbour, it was glorious. We went racing on yachts! Hundreds of people were aboard their own boats to watch us race. Kate and I would be on one, William on the other. I picked out a nice outfit. I chose some breton stripes and a pair of black leggings. I also chose some Sebago Bela boat shoes. Kate wore some when she was in North America, except mine were blue to match my outfit.
We posed for a snap with our sailing teams. In the photo it looked dull but the sun came out about 5 minutes later and it got really warm.
Eventually we got on our boats. I sat at the front and looked down at the water. It pushed past as we raced on. "GO! GO! GO!" I chanted. Kate laughed and came to join me. The main sailor Jamie went faster. "Will it be Wills or can we snatch victory?" Kate joked. William went to the front of his. He stuck out his tongue at us for a joke so we pulled faces at him.
The race went on and it looked like it would be a close one. The wind in my hair, I couldn't ask for anything better! "WHOO HOO!" I cheered. Kate laughed. And William, thinking he was Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic, shouted out: "I'm the King of the world!".
In the first race, we came first. Could we do in again in race two? We set off. Once again both of us were at equally fast speed. However we got to the finish line first AGAIN! Kate and I accepted the trophy and we held it high in the air. Pictures of us were all over Twitter and in the glossies! One thing that was brilliant today as when we over took William in race two, Kate and I gave him a cheeky salute as we sped past.
