LYRA AND THE SLYTHERIN POTTER | PROLOGUE

November 30, 1991

Dear diary,

It's been a while since I last wrote an entry. I'm sorry for not sharing my thoughts this past month. It's been really hectic with the exams and having to keep an eye out for the Weasley Twins. 

So for today's tea, my mother sent me a mail saying how she and Draco miss me and that they are excited to see me this coming Holiday Break. I wonder if father misses me, too? I know that he's really busy and didn't have the time to see me off earlier this school year at the platform... But sometimes I feel like he hates me. I always see how he dots on Draco and favors him. Even when I'm in the same room as Draco, the atmosphere feels different. It's probably nothing, right? I don't know honestly. I must be overthinking again. Father isn't the type of person to open up 'emotionally', like mother and Draco. He always keeps to himself. But there is something that my father does and it makes me feel like he cares about me just as much as cares for Draco. Whenever someone who looks untrustworthy tries to come near me, my father shows up and teaches that person a lesson. Then recently during the first exam period at Hogwarts, I received a mail from my father where he wrote how I've brought a good reputation to the family name for passing all of my exams and making it to the top of the First Years. I was finally getting the acknowledgment that I deserve... Well, that's what Jaiden said.

Oh, I almost forgot!

Jaiden is my new friend. He was sorted into Slytherin and at first, I didn't really notice him in the classes we share as he didn't stand out much. He is also really quiet and awkward. But after meeting him in detention and talking to him, we found out that we have things in common. Like having a younger brother, the love for books and reading, he also likes sweets but isn't fond of chocolates (I'll change that preference of his someday hehe), and he cares for his family and is scared of losing them. I find this new friend of mine as someone who I can rely on and I believe that he'll have my back just as I plan to do for him. Also, Jaiden is a Potter. I was surprised when I heard about this... I didn't think that I'd meet Harry Potter's older brother.

Well, I have to go now. Jade's calling for me. We're about to play a prank on the Weasley Twins who got me into detention the other day.
