4. Rhysand

As I asked the question the strange fae seemed to confer in that silent way that Cassian and Azriel sometimes did. I looked to Feyre, she had hid her surprise well, when she had been shoved out of Aelin's mind, but I knew her tells. The angle of her head, the way her eyes darted, scanning for anything physical or magical in the dim and dank cell.

"Fine," Aedion murmured sharply from where they stood in the centre of the cell.

"Portals," Aelin began. Portals? Feyre asked, I just gave a small shrug. "Can be temperamental things," the female continued, examining her nails, "one slight change and poof , wrong place," she finished, glancing up from her spotless nails.

"Portals?" I asked, I had never heard of magic strong enough to create such a thing, aside from that of the Cauldron, and what ever had brought Amern to our world, but that was impossible, wasn't it?

"Yes," Rowans voice was gruff, his eyes sharp as a hawk as he continued to monitor Feyre and myself, as well as the single door behind us. "Think of them as a doorway across great distances,"

"Yes, I know what a portal is," I said, voice bored, "but how?"

"Magic," Aelin drawled. It struck me then that I recognised  her, although from where or when I couldn't tell, "very old magic."

"Show us," Feyre said.

"It's not that simple," Feyre stiffened abit at the tone of the female, "and even if I could, don't you think we would've made one by now?" She raised a golden brow, there was dominance in that look, my mate returned one of equal intensity. Feyre darling, as fun as it would be to see you two battle this out, I let a feeling of amusement brush against her mental shields, we need them to cooperate with us. I felt her bemusement a heart beat later as she spoke.

"In that case, what is it you need?"

"For starters, where we are exactly," Aelin gestured to the room around them.

"The Night Court," I supplied, I could already feel that we were in for a long night ahead of us.

"Oh, of course, we should have known," Aedions voice dripped with sarcasm. Aelin rolled her eyes at the male, but it was Rowan who spoke.

"We need a symbol, one that represents this place," this must have been old magic indeed. It seemed so similar to the Book of Breathings, and I began to wonder if it was in fact the Books doing.

"And second," Aelin said, "we need out of this cell, dungeons and I don't agree," she held out her other hand and began to examine her nails.

By the Cauldron, I said through the bond, don't ever let Amren meet her, imagine what they would get up to. I felt Feyre's silent laugh skittering across the bond between us, but the joy in it faded as she asked, Rhys, what do we do with them?
