Chapter Twenty Three

Jonathan

Nephthys said we'd meet up later and talk about what happened to Evan after she does some talking with the other High Council members. After she left I sat down beside Evan. "I wish I could take you to the band room." I sighed and rubbed his hand. Deli jumped up and rubbed against him again. "You take care of him Deli." I said and stood up and walked out of the room. I gave one more glance at Evan. He lay still and pale in the bed. His arms crossed over himself. His jet black hair all slumpy and greasy. His skin dirty from being under the tunnels. I shut the door fully and made my way down to the band room.

I walked in and went right to the piano. I sat down and cleared my throat. A perfect song went to my mind. I had to get my feelings out. I started on the piano. As my fingers flowed light was glowing through my fingers. It flowed out like a snake. The snake wrapped around the whole room, making a scene. I was now in a midnight blue tux. Evan was in the room. He was dressed in a velvet tux. He had black eyeliner on and some around his eyes. He walks around and then leans against the piano.

Step one, you say we need to talk
He walks, you say sit down, it's just a talk
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through

Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left, and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
You begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong?
I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

I tried to not believe it but Evan walked and sat down beside me. He started playing along and touched my hands. I started to smile, but deep down, I knew it wasn't real.

Let him know that you know best
Cause after all, you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence

Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you've told him all along
And pray to God he hears you
And I pray to God he hears you

Where did I go wrong?
I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Evan stood up and leaned up against me.

As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you've followed

He will do one of two things
He will admit to everything
Or he'll say he's just not the same
And you'll begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong?
I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Where did I go wrong?
I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

How to save a life
How to save a life

Evan rubbed my neck with his nose and started towards the door. I stopped playing and went towards him, weirdly the song kept playing.

Where did I go wrong?
I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Where did I go wrong?
I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

How to save a life
How to save a life

After the song everything disappeared. I was wearing my regular clothes and awake Evan was gone. All the glowy stuff gone. "What! No!" I yelled and bashed my hands on the piano keys. "Child, you have another affinity." The same hoarse voice startled me. "You have another one for music." She smiled and walked to me. "Water and Music, a great mix." "I don't like it. I tricked myself to thinking Evan was awake." "That's because it was trying to soothe you and you need more practice anyway. Now about Evan..." She gave me a tough look.

We walked back to my room. Nephthys grabbed a laptop and set it down on my desk. She moved my key board and controls. "When is the last time you played Jonathan?" I shook my head. "Last weekend, with Evan actually." The High Priestess sat quietly as she brought up Skype. I heard the ringing noise I was so used to hearing every time we'd play GTA Online or GMOD or even Black Ops Zombies. The ringing stopped and three women appeared on the screen. All wise, old, vampyres. They all greeted me.

"Merry meet Jonathan, I am Demeter, I have an affinity for fertility." The one in the middle with bright blue eyes, and brown hair with gray streaks, said. "Merry meet Demeter." I said nervously. "Merry meet Jon, I am Finncaev, I have an affinity for fair love." The one on the left with bright orange hair and gray eyes said. "Merry meet, Finn- Finnca-" "Fin-sea-ve." She laughed and looked at the one on the right who was very quiet and looked very young. She had bright green eyes and bright blonde hair. "Merry meet Jonathan, I am Eirenne, I have an affinity for peace." "Merry meet Eirenne." "Do you have any affinities High Priest?" Demeter asked.

I nodded and cleared my throat. "I have an affinity for Water and I just found out I have one for Music too." Finncaev smiled. "That's wonderful. Like ye tattoo." Finncaev continued, as she gawked at my face. "Now about Evan." Nephthys continued, "Should we break the news to this High Priest?" She asked. All High Priestesses nodded but Eirenne. "Its not peaceful enough for him." She argued. The other High Priestesses frowned. "I guess I will." Demeter said.

"Evan's soul is shattered and he is in the Otherside with Nyx. His pieces are missing from himself and if he doesn't get them together in time he'll be stuck there forever and his actual body will be stuck too." She finished. "Wait! How can I help?" "See the thing is only one of us knows how to get to the Otherside and that's with Old Magic and yet again only one of us knows that." Demeter answered. I looked at all of them. "Well? Who?!" Finncaev looked at Demeter. Demeter looked at Eirenne and Eirenne looked at Finncaev.

"Why me?" The High Priestess joked. "She is your sister." Eirenne answered. Finncaev sighed. "You have to go see my sister Atalanta. She is the High Priestess of all the vampyre warriors you see today, she's a warrior as well and has an affinity for war and wisdom. Unfortunately where she is, is separate from the actual High Council. She's in her only little Island." "Well where is it?" All of the vampyres let out a long sigh. "Somewhere off the coast of Italy in the middle of nowhere." I started packing up stuff as the ladies kept talking. "Jonathan it's too dangerous to go alone." Eirenne warned. I smirked when an idea came to my mind. "Don't worry, I've got a lot of people that'll be by my side."
