CHAPTER 37
Chapter 37: Temptation pt. 2
Dark.
Your body couldn't move, but your mind was adamant about changing everything. A change in your life. But something was holding you back. It was something big, as it demands you to make the most significant leap of your life.
"I promise her everything. I don't want to lose her...."
"I know, but you can't take everything you want; there are choices you need to make."
"Hyung, but I don't want to choose; I want both of them."
"Then you'll lose both of them."
What? What choices are there to make? What is happening?
"You can't do that! They will find you and hate you! She will hate you!"
"I did this for her! She will understand what I did for her. The sacrifice I made for her!"
"But she doesn't know that."
What, who will hate who?
"I don't know you anymore."
"Wait, please, Anne...."
My name? Who is calling for me?
"You promised me something that I hoped for, you were someone I wanted to understand, but I can see any of this clearly."
"Then follow me, follow me only."
"I did, and I trusted a monster."
"You don't mean that; tell me you don't mean that."
"I don't lie."
"YOU'RE LYING."
Who's lying?
"Anne, tell me you won't leave me."
"I'm sorry."
"You promise me forever."
"Goodbye..."
"Anne?"
"Anne?!"
"Anneliese!"
And you woke up, breathing heavily, the nightmare that's been haunting you, with a so familiar yet unfamiliar name. A name that has plagued you for a while. Your room was silent, and the morning sunlight greeted you.
You wake up with the same familiar nightmare, a broken promise.
The door opened, and Seokjin came with a morning breakfast, as always. It became a habit for him to go in bringing something to eat because you were shaken every time he woke up.
"Rough night?"
"I hate it. I want it gone."
Seokjin chuckles, "I told you to make amends with yourself. Why won't you let yourself go."
"Because it's not me!" you frustratingly pulled your hair, "How am I supposed to pretend to be someone I'm not?"
"I know," Seokjin told you softly, "I can't ask you to understand, too; it's like talking to two different versions of you."
"Are you seriously not going to tell me who I am? Who was I before?"
"What's the point? I can tell you what I know, but you will need something else. I'm going to be telling you a story of someone else. Someone you don't know; you'll stray away from who you were meant to be."
He was right; telling you who you were before will make you stray from who you are. Finding out from Seokjin is like portraying someone he looks from his eyes, the person he will tell you will be what you are. But knowing who you were before, the real you, is better.
"I'm tired."
"Then sleep."
"I'm afraid because I can't agree with myself."
"You don't need to be afraid. I know it's not easy, but making amends with yourself will help you," He started, "To be honest, I don't want to say this, but do you think it's time?"
"Time for what?"
"For you to listen to the story? To the person who knows you more than you do." He started, "Can you at least agree it's time to meet Jeon Jungkook?"
Your heart stops; there's no way out; the only person who knows more than yourself is the person who somehow has been there for you, Jeon Jungkook. But, for that to happen, you must throw everything that had happened to the people who helped you before to escape his clutch. Are you seriously willing to throw their blood, sweat and tears for you to go back?
No, you didn't want to go back, but you have to every time; it's like everyone doesn't agree on a bit to know you must go back to him, but the world. Every single person who had helped you escape ended up gone. It's like the world really did pull you to Jungkook, no matter what happens.
"Do you think seeing him will make everything better?"
"The beginning is not perfect; nothing is better. But to end it?" Seokjin ponders momentarily before shaking his head and agreeing, "I choose to believe that every beginning has its end."
"Then it's settled; I guess it's time to meet the person behind this, should we?" You asked Seokjin, "Where do we find him?"
"Why don't we ask the person letting the boy loose? It's time to find where Kim Namjoon is.
"Do you think he's alive?"
-
"I fucking hate to know you're still alive." You stood beside Seokjin while Namjoon was lighting up a cigarette. The deadly smoke blew into the midst air, making you stand behind Seokjin.
"and I miss you too, darling," Namjoon says, chuckling, "You've got me; now, what do you want. Don't you think our paths have crossed enough already?"
"I want to see Jungkook."
Namjoon looks at you and hums, "So, how is Jimin?"
"Namjoon, you're not answering."
"I hope he doing alright; that motherfucker better run away before I give him a piece of my own mind," Namjoon chuckles, slacking behind a bit before he looks at the window of the diner.
Yes, here you are, standing beside Seokjin, who somehow manages to get Namjoon to the diner. Seokjin told you it was easy because he's Namjoon. You get things from him, and he gets things too.
You asked what he had to give, and Seokjin told you not to worry.
"Sit, you're making me like the bad guy," Namjoon said suddenly.
"You are the bad guy."
Namjoon shrugged, he couldn't deny that he was not good, but he was not all wrong.
Seokjin nodded his head while quietly telling you to slide inside the booth. The diner is quiet, and only a few people are present. You told Seokjin it was a bad idea and someone could see you. But Seokjin says they're all bad; they wouldn't care.
You looked back at Namjoon, who was still struggling to sit comfortably; his long legs were pushing it, but he looked like he didn't mind. Your eyes couldn't help to look at Namjoon, and for sure, you were right. He was a mess; dark eyebags were becoming more visible, and his eyes, once bore dark and cunning, were now tired and empty.
He was once the man of the house, the tycoon. But now, he looks like he had nothing of those. How could someone look so empty when he has everything?
"Did you find what you're looking for?" Namjoon suddenly asks; your eyes wander before you look at him questioningly.
"What do you mean?"
"Did you find what you're looking for?" Namjoon repeated his question, "I hope you did because it took you long enough to stare, your glad I'm not a narcissist, so I don't mind."
"You –"
"So, about our agreement," Seokjin started, cutting you off from saying anything else, "Do we have a deal?"
"It's tempting, I have to agree with you," Namjoon said, "But sadly, it's not enough."
"Then say it; what do you want?"
"Money. His money precisely, you get Jungkook –"pointing towards you –"I get his money."
"Deal."
"Seokjin," you look at Seokjin, "Are you seriously going to give him everything?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Because our goal is not the money," Seokjin told you, "It was never an option."
"But –"
"God, you both are still the same as always," Namjoon laughs, "Even in this life, you're still debating on this shit; thank Heavens they didn't put you two together."
