Jongho and Yeosang didn't realize the time, but they had been texting back and forth for hours. Yeosang was flirting, Jongho was blushing. They favored each other despite only meeting via texts a few hours ago.
When Yeosang invited Jongho over, the younger became anxious.
Would Yeosang be how he seems? Would Yeosang be a kind man or a cruel man? Is his outfit okay? Should he try to be the best version of himself or just be himself?
Jongho had dozens of irrational questions, making him want to deny the older's invitation. He asked his brother to chaperone as though he was a little kid again.
"I'm sorry, Jong, I can't take you today. Ask Yeosang if he can pick you up?" Yunho asked.
"Are you sure he's a good guy?" Jongho questioned, picking at the skin around his nails.
"I wouldn't let someone creepy or awful even meet you. He's a good guy," Yunho said, smiling sadly as he knew why Jongho was anxious.
"How do you know him?"
"He's the brother of my best friend's boyfriend. We four all hang out a bunch together, so I know he's good enough for you."
"You're super sure he won't pressure me?"
"Super sure," Yunho said, holding out his pinkie finger to make a promise. Jongho gave a cute smile and locked his pinkie to lock in their promise.
"Alright, I'll text and ask him to pick me up..." Jongho pulled his phone out of his hoodie pocket and sent the request.
"He said he'll be here in a few minutes! I need to hurry and get my things!" Jongho scampered to find his mini backpack to fill it with necessities.
Yunho called for Jongho, making the younger brother rush out of his room while spraying cologne on himself.
"Good enough?" Jongho asked, breathing a little heavily. Yunho grinned, nodded, and shoved him out of the house.
Jongho didn't see a car, which worried him. He saw a blond sitting in a side by side, which he slowly came up to.
Seeing Yeosang, the younger felt dread form in his stomach. Was it dread or butterflies? Jongho didn't know, nor did he care and he shakily walked towards the blond.
"Yeosang?" Jongho asked.
Hearing his name, Yeosang looked towards Jongho. Yeosang smiled widely and opened the door for him. Jongho climbed into the side by side, his bag held closely.
"Hang on!" Yeosang grinned, speeding out of the driveway.
The older man never slowed down his speed until he was very close to his "home."
Could it be called a home? A small, one room hole in the wall of a house. Yeosang knew most would be deterred from the sight, so he wanted to bring Jongho home to test him.
As the elder slowed down to park, Jongho's heart rate was very slowly calming down from the fear of the side by side.
His heart was beating out of his chest, a thousand miles an hour. His legs were shaky as Yeosang opened his side door to exit.
As the pair walked inside, Yeosang gave a half assed apology on how disheveled his room looked.
Jongho smiled, "Don't be sorry! It's fine. Thank you for having me over."
Yeosang nearly flinched from the kindness of the younger man. He was surprised yet unsurprised by Jongho's kindness.
He didn't care Yeosang lived roughly?
When Yeosang went to put more coal into his coal stove, Jongho slid his sleeves and asked how he could help.
Together, the pair fueled the coal stove so it could heat the house.
Yeosang moved to his bedroom. Jongho sat in a chair, still shaky and the tiniest bit nauseated from the ride.
"Do you wanna move in closer?" Yeosang offered, seeing Jongho calming himself down.
"I will just as soon as I can feel my feet again," Jongho said, laughing softly. Yeosang furrowed his brows, questioning why.
"I've never ridden on a side by side, but you were going close to fifty miles an hour on a back road. It scared me," Jongho confessed, feeling a little over the top.
"I'm sorry; I'll take you home slower."
"A BTOB poster? I didn't think you were into kpop," Jongho said, teasingly.
"My sisters loved the group, and I just put it up to make them more comfortable when they show up."
"You wanna put on some music?" Yeosang offered after a small silence. Jongho nodded, finally traveling to the bed beside Yeosang.
Jongho pushed play on the latest Twice song. He watched the music video for a few seconds before gaining enough confidence to lay beside Yeosang.
Yeosang, noticing the younger coming closer, opened his arms for him to lay on his chest. Jongho smiled softly and curled into his side.
A little into cuddling, Jongho had a few questions. Yeosang noticed the gears turning in Jongho's mind, asking what he was thinking about.
"I don't know how to word these questions without them sounding accusatory or mean," Jongho said, speaking softly.
"You don't have to word them well, just ask," Yeosang said, smiling softly at Jongho's care.
"How do you live like this; no medical insurance, no identification, no way of having a stable food or monetary income?"
"Well, I had to change my name, so nothing I have or had are correct anymore. I just don't think on what I don't have."
"I know how to get you set up on all of those! I'm also on government assistance programs, so helping you get them yourself won't be an issue!"
"That's sweet, but no thanks. I can't let you do that. I don't wanna let you help me."
"It's not a "want to" kinda deal. I'm gonna help you regardless of you asking for it."
Yeosang smiled at that and shook his head.
"Not yet, then."
"Okay."
The pair continued talking for hours, enjoying each other's company; neither caring about the time until Jongho's phone rang.
"We've got school tomorrow, Jong. Are you coming back?" Yunho asked. Jongho's eyes widened seeing the time being a quarter past eleven pm.
"Yeah, I think so!" Jongho responded. Yeosang gave a small pout as the brothers spoke.
The pair hugged sweetly before Yeosang led Jongho back out to the side by side.
Yeosang handed Jongho a hoodie, allowing him to wear it before starting up the ride.
Yeosang could see Jongho's worry in the corner of his eye. He slowed down a little more, soon arriving back at Jongho's house.
"I had fun today. Thank you for having me over." Jongho quickly kissed Yeosang's cheek, his own burning a vibrant cherry shade, then rushed into his house.
Yeosang grinned, lightly touching his cheek.
Jongho, however, was embarrassed. When he realized Yunho had seen it all, his embarrassment grew.
"How was it?" Yunho asked, genuinely wanting to know. Jongho went on a huge rant about Yeosang.
"He's so sweet! He and I talked the whole time; I laid on his chest as we did. He let me play my music despite it not being his favorite!"
"Then why are you so rosy? Did you kiss?" Yunho teased, making kissy sounds.
"So what?! Is that a crime?"
"...oh my god you kissed him?! You had your first kiss finally?" Yunho exclaimed. Jongho whined but nodded, covering his face with his hands.
"Does he know?"
"No; I want it to stay that way."
"Fine, just go get ready for bed. You have your senior year to start, and I have to get ready for my first college semester," Yunho said, shooing the younger up the stairs.
