Devos (Original Species)

Ah yes, my own original species I have been working on for a while now.

I'm going to go over their past and stuff, so if you don't want to read and just jump to pictures, just keep scrolling.

Devos (pronounced Dee-voh-s)

Devos are very tall, naturally lean muscles, horned creatures with leathery skin. They have very powerful haunches that allows them to jump very high, however, because of how unbalanced they are, they are unable to swim. They have finger fingers, that including a thumb, with three claws toes are their back feet. They normally have short tails to help keep them balanced when they stand-up right.

Their horns are normally used to show which role they play in their packs. I'll have a list to show with horns equal what.

They live in the state of Massachusetts in the USA, which may have played a role in their near extinction. They are very smart creatures, speaking English or whatever the dominant language is for their subspecies and learning basic herbal medicine, which they shared with native Americans in the area. Because of this, religious figures have seen these creatures as demons, and during the 1600s, the time of the Salem Witch Trials, a large majority of the species were killed.

Gotta make this clear, they are not demons. They are closely related to the goatman of American folklore and that's it.

Nowadays, these creatures are critically endangered and still feared by most. Because of people building and destroying their territory, they have lost most of their prey and land, keeping their numbers very low.

Devos were once docile creatures, not bothering humans, until they started killing and turning their horns into trophies. Then, Devos started to waste no time in killing humans that wonder into their territory.

Speaking of horns, back to that real quick. Devos have special veins in their horns, that, if broken too far, can speak death for the Devo.

Devos have a diet of that of an omnivore, but prefer meats like deer and sometimes birds. They will occasionally eat berries and sometimes eat fruit that they steal from farms.

Devo mothers normally only have one kid (yes, they are called kids, cause goats), with only one mother being recorded of having two.

Couples only take one mate for life, an old tradition from their own folklore of where a Devo loved another, but died to illness, and his mate mourned for him and never took another. It touched the hearts of the pack leader, and it was a law from then on. Not a smart idea now.

Packs normally have 20 - 50 pack members, but now be lucky if there are 15 members. There is a leader, either male or female, that makes sure the pack is running nice and sound.

Kids are watched over by most of the pack until their horns start coming in, where they are safe to start working with other Devos in their rank.

This is all I can really share right now, but I hope you guys like what I have with their info so far!

These are an semi closed species too, so if you'd like to make a Devo, please talk to me first. I will occasionally make adopts, it's just so their numbers don't get too big. They are endangered after all.

Take care!
