Chapter 4:
I laid on the hotel rooms balcony, watching cars fly by. Nash was inside trying to sleep, I did too but just couldn't. Now, the people in the next room over are fighting so loud it's giving me a headache...
There wasn't much to do now, it was almost evening. I'm starving...- The yelling got louder, making me jump. I gritted my teeth, sighing. I stood up and slid the door wide open.
Nash laid with his eyes half shut, forcing himself to stay awake. His eyes flickered shut before another yell making them shoot open. A losing game, like betting on a horse with two broken legs.
"You can't sleep with the noise huh?" I asked, leaning against the door. Nash shook his head, groaning."It's just so loud.." He groaned, turning over and placing the pillow over his head. I made a soft "hm" noise and turned around.
"Bree..?" He asked as I walked back on the balcony."Shut up!!' I yelled, smirking to myself as Nash watched me with a shocked expression.
"Wow.." He muttered as I laughed. The neighbors balcony door slam shut, almost enough to shatter the glass. I smiled at him, he nodded as he lowered his head back to his pillow."Thanks.." He whispered as I collapsed on the bed next to his.
Nash had his eyes closed now, whisked away by the desperation for rest. I sighed, pressing my face into the cool pillows. I'm so hungry, this is torture... But he just got to sleep..
I wonder if they have any vending machines around? I could grab the key card and get some, I do have a bit of cash.. I hoped off the bed, tiptoeing across the room. I grabbed the key card and made my way to the door.
I eased it open, making my way out quiet as I could. I really don't want to disturb him much since he just got to sleep. He is the one driving the car I may be stuck in a while...
-
I got some chips, and a pastry, and a candy bar, and- Okay maybe I did get a little more than I needed, but I'm not sure when Nash will be up or take me to get food again.. I continued walking up the stairs, we were on the 4th floor, I found the vending machines on the 2nd. It took me a while to find them honestly.
Now, I just need to make myself back into the room quietly..-
"Oh. Sorry.." My eyes met Nash's blue ones, he looked like he had been running, his shoulders rising and falling as he caught his breath. He stood at the top of the staircase I was climbing, scratching his cheek.
I furrowed my brows, coming up the final flight of steps."Did I wake you?" I asked and Nash bit his cheek."I thought you were going to find police or leave.." He whispered, covering his mouth as his cheeks turned a bit pink.
My lips parted before I pinched them back shut. I shook my head and walked back up the stairs. Part of me is startled, the other half feels a bit bad he looked worried.
"I just needed something to eat. You were fast asleep.." I explained, making eye contact with him. I grabbed my oatmeal pie, offering it to him."I haven't seen you eat, or drink for that matter. You should." I smiled, but Nash shook his head.
"No, I'll get a glass of water and go back to sleep.." He sighed, turning around and starting back to the room.
In the same minute, he paused, snapping back to me."Do you have the key??" Panic laced his voice and I jumped, nodding fast enough to shoot a pain through my head. I regret that...
He let out a relieved sigh, which confused me more.
"It's not that big of a deal, we can always explain we lost it in there-" "We aren't here legally, we can't go ask.." He whispered, leaning forward so I could hear him better.
"What..?" My mouth gaped as I held the key card close, to which Nash sighed."Come on, let's not talk like this in the halls Bree.." He motioned me to follow, hurrying back to our room.
I wanted to sink into the floor. I want to, but I can't. I gathered the panic in my heart and pushed forward, clinging to all my snacks in my arms.
-
Once we reached the door, I handed Nash the key card. He unlocked the door, holding it open for me."Don't look so pale, it'll be okay." He crossed his arms, to which I squinted my eyes at him."Okay, but we aren't playing Bonnie and Clyde.." I hissed, turning my head away from him.
Nash huffed as the door closed, I just returned to my bed. I dropped my food and sat down with a sour expression. I don't even feel hungry anymore..
"Don't let it make you so upset. We won't be the people to even get in trouble for this, which no one will." Nash sat down on his bed, both of us just looking ahead. I glanced at his reflection in the TV.
"Is that what you said when you decided to steal that money?" I asked, crossing my arms. Nash closed his eyes as he inhaled deeply."You have no idea what happened."
"Oh but, I'm surely roped into it so don't I have a right?" I turned to face him, but my words appeared to catch him off guard. Nash's eyes were now wide open, fear laid in them for a moment.
My heart dropped a moment as guilt surged. Why am I feeling guilty for a criminal..?
"I'm sorry.. I'm just not... Used to this." I space my words, biting my cheek as he nodded."I know."
Silence filled the room as we both stared down. I could almost cut the tension it's so thick. Oh goodness, I pray this doesn't remain this way... I glanced at Nash's legs as he tapped his foot. He lifted his hand to his mouth, biting his nail.
He's a nervous wreck now.. Oh, I feel so guilty...
-
We stayed in silence, until Nash eventually went back to sleep. I stayed on the balcony, eating my snacks and connecting the stars until I could make a picture. It was the only entertainment I had that didn't involve the TV and I don't want to keep Nash up with it..
I hope this entire chaotic adventure isn't so... Quiet. But I do have to admit it's really pretty here. I wouldn't mind staying for a while just with a bit more freedom..
I heard a door open, making me jerk around. Nash stepped out of the bathroom, pushing his now damp midnight blue hair back. I furrowed my brows at his sudden change in appearance. He glanced at me and shrugged, rubbing his eye.
I felt the temperature on my cheeks rise as I blinked a few times. Oh. I mean, he did a really good job..
I stood up quickly, sliding the door open."I see you did it.." I smiled, breaking the painful long silence we had."I just needed a change, but it's too long for me.." He huffed, struggling to keep it pushed back.
A perfect idea to help us break some tension popped into my mind.
"I can help!" I chimed, a bigger smile taking up my face. Nash stared at me before looking up and inhaling."How..?"
"I can cut it, a new cut, make you look different! I would've helped dye your hair too, but don't worry, I used to cut all my brothers hair, they wanted several different things." I reassured, Nash biting his lip."Promise to not mess it up..?" He asked, and I smiled.
"What would you want?" I tucked my hair back, looking toward the knife blocked. I'm sure the hotel provides scissors if they have knives..
"Whatever you think is best, just don't give me short short.." He sighed, sitting down at the island counter. I nodded, looking around for the scissors. I found them in the drawer in front of the knife block, making me smirk.
"I've got something perfect in mind."
-
Cutting Nash's hair wasn't as tension relieving as I thought it would be. His entire body would tense with I'd get close to cut a piece.
It just made this tension grow. But I'm almost done.."Just a few more front pieces okay?" I gave Nash a gentle smile, but he avoided my eyes, staying quiet as a dormant child.
I sighed, brushing the last few pieces into place. I set the scissors down and backed up, examining him.
I tucked my own hair behind my ear again, chewing my cheek. I think I did a pretty good job because he looks really good..
He pushed and made eye contact with me, getting up.
"I'll look in the mirror.." He whispered, heading toward the bathroom. I nodded slowly, looking down.
I placed my hands on my cheeks, gulping. I felt hot to the touch, so I'm sure it's shown on my face this entire time. My gosh...
"Oh, you did a really good job. Thank you." Nash chimed from the bathroom, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Of course. I'm happy you like it." I smiled as he flicked off the light, stretching his arms.
I stared a bit, watching as his plain black t-shirt tug against his chest.
"It's 11 PM. Maybe we should rest for the night now..?" He suggested, walking to his bed.
I nodded, lowering my head."Oh- can we have the TV on..?" I asked, grabbing my bag.
"Sure, it won't bother me.." He yawned, undoing the bed entirely and crawling into it.
I carried my bag close and started into the bathroom. I just need to change before bed. I have to get out of these jeans shorts and crop top.
