What happened in John's story is that he got over the decrypting loneliness because he found a flower and felt like the flower, he found had leveled with him emotionally. The flower changed his stray hope and despaired. What happened in Willam's story is that he saw daffodils and it cured his deathly depressed gaze at life, and so it made him happy and filled him to the max with joy to be alive and not cremated. The flowers relaxed him now whenever he feels sad, he'll be thinking of the flowers that made him joyous and feel gay instead of sad and loathing of life. Both give hope and happiness instead of a void of loneliness because they went outside and interacted with nature.
