The Lion and the Mouse compared to Blue period are not so different in the end. In The Lion and the Mouse the lion was sleeping and the mouse was messing with his slumber. The lion caught the mouse soon sparing the mouse because the mouse said they'll repay the lion's kindness. The lion soon got caught by some hunters and the mouse scared the hunters off. The mouse saved the lion. Now in Blue period Yatora Yaguchi and Ryuji Ayukawa are aiming for art school. But Ryuji quits at the entrace exam. He soon gets kicked out of his parent's house because they don't support him. Then Yatora calls Ryuji. Ryuji says along the lines "you wouldn't jump into the ocean if someone was drowning. You'd just throw a life jacket and leave". Leaving Yatora confuse, Ryuji and Yatora eventually meet. They end up going to a hotel, and they talk. Yatora saved Ryuji from a dark place, is the main point. That's how the stories are similar. They both are helping someone. But Blue Period is more realistic and modern. Because it deals with more modern belifes as well as more modern problems.
