The exposition where we learn most about the characters is when Susan and Tracy are at school. It gives information about how Tracy likes Eddie, and hates Debbie because she also likes Eddie. This builds up to the rising act, where Lisa brings up Eddie and Debbie. Tracy is obviously uncomfortable, but it gets even worse as we build closer to the climax. Yet another girl named Cameron is dancing with Eddie, making Tracy cry. The falling action is when Susan and Hamadi see her, then the resolution is when they leave

The author used the flashback to give more information about Susan's grandmother, about Hamadi. The author used this to give more information about the characters, and what they mean to Susan. Hamadi helps with the conflict, easing it down.

The conflict in "Hamadi" is when Tracy cries on page seven because Eddie and Cameron are dancing. This type of conflict is man vs society, because Susan's friend Tracy wants Eddie, but pretty much everyone likes Eddie, says so on page three. So Tracy is definitely having a tough time, luckily Susan there!

Susan, the protagonist of "Hamadi", faces her friend crying. Susan does what anyone would do, unless you don't care, or an angry person. Susan comforts her friend as she cries. They soon move away from the crowd, so her friend Tracy can feel better.

Susan , the protagonist of "Hamadi", is seen in a different emotion. Susan at first is curious and questions everything we can see this throughout the short story. When her friend is crying, we see Susan in a different light. Susan is caring and isn't heartless on page seven.

Conflict I've experienced. I used to be depressed and I wanted change, wanted to be better. I built up the courage to tell my mother and I saw a therapist and got better. I currently still have depression, but I'm not suicidal anymore. My family is helping me get better.

"Hamadi" by Naomi Shihab Nye

I chose "Hamadi" by Naomi Shihab Nye, because it has spiritual and philosophical elements. I like books under that umbrella. It takes place with my beliefs.
