A light wind rustles fledgling leaves, the songs of birds fall delicately upon your ears, and radiant sunbeams bounce off the perfect glass of your teapot. Inside is a papery thin flower, encased in a vault of amber liquid. Such is the beauty of flowering teas.
These unique creations will come to you in boxes labeled with Amazon paraphernalia (unless you are lucky enough to live in a place that regularly sells these) and will emerge looking like small alien balls of shriveled leaves.
Typically these little orbs of flavor are made with green tea leaves as well as the flower of the tea plant. They're painstakingly bound together and are by far one of the most beautiful sights to see on a calm, relaxed day.
Like any green tea, blooming teas should not be brewed using boiling water. Instead, use hot (almost boiling) water and slowly pour it over the ball. If you pour too fast, there's the danger of some leaves breaking off or even flipping the tea ball over and having it bloom the wrong way up!
Either way, these teas are very subtle and mild. The best way to describe them would be as a blend of herbaceousness along with some sweetness and a uniquely unassuming floral note. Additionally, since they are so very mild and weak, it's possible to brew an entire pot and while away the hours while sipping.
As a personal favorite, I've always got a few packets of these in my tea drawer. They're perfect for those days when everything you lay eyes on is beautiful and all you'd like to do is sit back and watch.

Tea Quote!
"If you are cold, tea will warm you; if you are too heated, it will cool you; If you are depressed, it will cheer you; If you are excited, it will calm you."
