"hello doyoung, let's go for your 20th day?" yuta said after appearing through the portal he had opened.

however, instead of being greeted by doyoung, standing in front of him with a giddy smile, he had to search for a while before finding the human.

"doyoung? what are you doing?" he asked, approaching the boy that was sitting with his arms crossed on a chair in front of the window.

"i don't want to go." doyoung replied, pouting.

"why today? you seemed particularly happy to go yesterday." yuta questioned.

strangely, doyoung had taken a liking to being picked up by yuta every morning to spend his day in the demon realm.

yuta was quite surprised to see doyoung waiting for him to arrive through the portal.

and this kidnapping had turned into a pleasing visit of an unknown world.

but it seemed like something made him change his mind today.

"i don't want to go."

"but why?" yuta insisted. "jaehyun will be mad if you don't arrive on time..."

"let him be mad. he's always like that anyway." doyoung mumbled before looking through the window, as if yuta wasn't there.

the demon understood immediately that this had to do with jaehyun.

the demon heir was usually very kind and understanding, and he made everything for doyoung's stay to be the best possible.

but, sometimes, jaehyun could be scary. as taeyong had said before, he was very possessive over every and anything.

"what did this big doofus do this time?" yuta asked with a sigh.

"nothing."

"doyoung. i can see he did something." the japanese raised a brow.

"i don't know! he's just being kind and everything, and the next second he's scaring the shit out of me, almost pinning me to a wall to hit my face." the human let out with a pout.

yuta sighed deeply, slapping his own head against his forehead in despair. "oh my god..." he let out. "do you mind waiting for me here for... an instant?"

doyoung looked at the demon strangely. "huh... yeah?"

"great."

and with that said, yuta jumped back into the portal he had previously opened, the passage from one realm to another disappearing behind his back, and leaving a confused doyoung alone in a silent room.

"jung fucking jaehyun!" yuta yelled as soon as he appeared inside the demon heir' bedroom.

"is this a way to talk to your future souverain?" jaehyun raised a brow, finishing to dry his hair with a towel. "and where is doyoung?"

"this is a way to talk to your stupid best friend, whether he's the future souverain or not!" yuta replied. "you scared the shit out of doyoung, and now he doesn't want to come anymore. why can't you chill down a bit and control this possessiveness you hold in?"

jaehyun rolled his eyes, not really understanding the matter.

"i scared him? i barely touched him. just pulled him closer to make sure he understood what i had to say clearly. i didn't even pin him to a wall."

"let me remind you that doyoung is a human, stupid." yuta hit the back of his head. "they don't have the same training as us, they're easily scared, and the most important thing is that they actually think that our two realms should remain separated!!" yuta kept going. "so, this is the reason why you need to double your efforts and make his stay as enjoyable as it can be. and this will be possible if you act like the gentleman you are without letting your dominant side showing up!"

jaehyun scoffed loudly, throwing his towel on the bed and crossing his arms over his chest.

"what did you expect him to do? just nod while he was claiming that taeyong was a friendly dude?!" he asked, obviously pissed.

"listen, i don't care about yours and taeyong's history. i just want the realms to be reunited as much as you. and our only chance to make this possible is to make our realm seduce doyoung." yuta explained.

"you suddenly gained in maturity." jaehyun noticed that his usually derpy best friend was giving him life lessons.

"i just realised how important his role is in our well-being." yuta said. "and i was tasked by you to make it work. so, i'm not going to give up. and you should too."

"great then." jaehyun said sarcastically. "and how do i start?"

"by apologising and going to pick him up in the human realm." yuta announced, before opening a portal. "here you go."

jaehyun rolled his eyes before stepping inside the portal.

doyoung was still sitting on his chair in front of the window, admiring the bright blue sky of his realm.

he had stayed there since yuta left – only standing up once to turn up the heater and wear a fluffier jacker in order to warm his cold body.

he hadn't moved when he heard the portal opening behind his back.

he knew yuta would start speaking and find a way to convince him to comeback after whatever he had done in his realm.

however, the voice he heard wasn't yuta's.

"doyoung?" jaehyun's voice said, making the human tense on his seat. he wasn't ready to face this scary demon again.

the so-called boy didn't turn around.

doyoung?" jaehyun repeated, taking a few steps forwards while doing so.

however, the human kept his trembling eyes fixed on one fluffy white cloud in the sky.

jaehyun approached him to the point he was standing right behind doyoung.

the human could even feel the heat escaping from his body warming him up.

"doyoung..." jaehyun spoke again, placing a hand on doyoung's shoulder. "i'm here to apolo- "

"don't touch me!" the human shrieked in fear, standing up and trying to get the furthest away from the demon.

jaehyun looked at doyoung sadly.

he hadn't imagined he could scare the human that much doing what he had done.

"i'm here to apologise." he said, his head hanging low. "i shouldn't have reacted that way yesterday. i was just angry that taeyong tried to approach you when i told him not to, and i let all my anger out on you..."

doyoung blinked a few times, staying silent, but noticing the way jaehyun's face contorted in sadness and regret.

"i just want to protect you." jaehyun assured. "i did it a bit too harshly though...and i'm very sorry about that. i promisethat from now on, i'll be more careful with my words and my actions towards you... we're not from the same realm, and we have different ways of life. i'll try being gentler like you are here... i promise."

doyoung nodded slowly, gulping the small lump that had formed in his throat in the process.

"i'm sorry as well." he let out. "i kept asking you about taeyong when i had noticed that he wasn't someone you seemed to appreciate."

"it's not that..." jaehyun told. "i want to protect you from him. he's not someone good for you."

doyoung sighed.

here they were again, stuck at the same point of the conversation as the day before.

"listen, jaehyun. i accept your apology, and i'll try making efforts myself. but i have one condition."doyoung said.

"what is it?"

"tell me why you need to protect me from taeyong."

jaehyun passed a hand through his slightly wet hair, making doyoug's brain malfunction for a second in the process.

he sighed loudly before giving in.

he hadn't much choice, and doyoung seemed like someone good, someone who knew how to keep secrets – because he would be the third person to hear about this, just after jaehyun and taeyong themselves.

"taeyong used me to get to the head of the realm. he planned on marrying me and take the power for his family to reign instead of mine. but fortunately, i found out, and we broke up." jaehyun explained. "and now that you're here, and that you're also the heir to a realm, i'm scared he'll try doing the same thing with you."
