"what do you think will happen to us?" doyoung asked worriedly to his boyfriend.

"i don't know..." the demon replied. "nothing good, that's for sure..."

the two heirs had been taken away from the crown room, because the discussion that would take place was apparently a 'ruler's decision', and the fact that the heirs were directly concerned was another excuse to have them excluded.

honestly, doyoung and jaehyun didn't mind.

they didn't really know what was about to happen to them, and this exclusion allowed them to stay a few minutes together, only the two of them, before something they couldn't even imagine happened.

needless to say, the atmosphere wasn't tranquil.

both boys were stressed, wondering how things will go in the future.

they were both lying on the bed of jaehyun's room, limbs entangled as they breathed in each other's scents as if it was the last time they would see each other.

they had no idea what could happen to them or to their realms.

but they knew that it was nothing good...

they could hear from jaehyun's room the screams of both parties.

they couldn't really decipher the words that were said – they didn't really want to understand them either – but they were aware that the four adults were screaming at each other.

"what if they separate us..." doyoung spoke as tears started to cascade down his cheeks.

"babe..." jaehyun let out, noticing his boyfriend's state.

jaehyun pulled himself up until he was sat on the bed with his back resting against the headboard. he then pulled doyougn's body up, placing him on his lap.

"don't cry..." jaehyun whispered, using his thumbs to wipe the tears away.

"b-but... i don't w-want to l-leave you..." doyoung started crying harder, nuzzling his face in the crook of jaehyun's neck to hide himself.

"i don't want either..." jaehyun reassured him, rubbing circles on his back. "but we need to stay strong."

"i-i c-can't..." doyoung cried. "i'm a h-human... i'm w-weak... i'm c-cold... i-i can't s-stay s-strong..."

jaehyun used one of his hand to cup doyoung's cheek and lift his head up, allowing himself to lay his lips onto doyoung's delicate ones.

he closed his eyes into the kiss, transferring all his love to his crying boyfriend.

doyoung kissed back without hesitation, letting himself lean on his boyfriend's body.

he felt so good there...

it was so warm...

it was so comfortable...

it was so addictive...

and yet, he would need to leave this.

"come on, babe..." jaehyun spoke when he saw doyoung breaking again. "you aren't any weak human..."

"y-yes... i a-am..."

"not at all, love." jaehyun kissed his cheek. "you're the strongest human i know."

"y-you're lying..." doyoung sniffled.

jaehyun shook his head. "i don't know many humans who would have been as brave as you and keep for them the secret of being locked up inside the demon realm during daytime when they didn't even enjoy it at first."

doyoung thought about it for a second.

it's true that he kept everything for himself.

he never told his parents about it, nor his best friend.

sure, he didn't know that jaehyun's threats were empty, but still.

he could have let it slip to his parents, and make sure that they solve everything between monarchs.

but he never did.

why?

he doesn't know himself.

perhaps because he found a liking in visiting this new world, these new people, his new friends...

"and also... you never broke in front of taeyong who wasn't acting nice towards us. and you didn't even break in front of me when i tried scaring you." jaehyun continued. "there are lots of things that prove how strong you are, doyoung."

the human sniffled, slowly nodding as he understood what jaehyun meant.

his tone was so soothing, and so calm despite the messy situation.

it was enough for doyoung to calm down – even if the awful feeling in the bottom of his stomach was still here.

"doyoung." jaehyun called, making the human lift his head and meet jaehyun's eyes.

the demon kissed the boy's tears away before pulling back and looking at him dead in the eye.

"i love you, doyoung. i will always." he whispered, leaning forwards to glue their mouths together in an intense kiss.

they kissed for long seconds until doyoung pulled back. "i love you too jaehyun." he said before going back to kissing his boyfriend passionately.

they knew it was surely one of their last kisses, and so, they tried to enjoy it as much as they could.

it held so much emotions...

it felt as if it was their first kiss... even if it sounded more like their last one...

"i'll wait for as long as it needs to have you, babe." jaehyun told once they parted from the kiss. "i'm ready to wait."

before doyoung could answer, they heard loud steps approaching jaehyun's bedroom, and then, saw the door being slammed open to allow the human king to enter.

the two heirs looked at the man expectantly, but let's be real, none of them expected something good.

"kim doyoung, we're leaving. say goodbye to this monster."
