Marshall Arts School

Ruby's POV

The moment I got to New York City, the first thing I'd done was to enroll in Martial Arts School, also known as Gregory Martial School Of Arts.

It hadn't exactly been easy to socialize. It was difficult being the new girl in a community of stuck up rich kids.

No one believed I was actually talented. That was until I proved them all wrong.

It was easier to socialise from that point onwards. I was the best they had. Everyone became my friend and then I had enemies too.

That was of course before my injury two years from which I'd quickly fallen from grace to grass.

I'd gone to being Martial Arts most talented ballet dancer to being the girl nobody understood why she attended an art school.

Yes, my classmates were assholes.

I turned away lazily from my locker and then exhaled loudly. I had drama class next. I could feel the eyes of the students on me as I shut my locker and made for the door to the hallway. They made side talks as I walked but I tried my best not to pay any attention to them. My uniform was a red and black checked plaid skirt, a white shirt and a tie.

"I can't believe she came back here." I heard someone say as I walked past a group of girls.

"She flunked her routine in the semifinals." Someone else said. I drew in a deep breath.

"And there she was feeling all high and mighty."

"She's won it two times already. Its about time someone else won."

I increased my pace.

"I guess she wanted to be a three time winner, just like her mother."

"Didn't they say she'll never be able to dance again?"

"Then why did she come back here? Marshall is an arts school and without ballet, she has nothing-"

Finally!

I walked into the drama hall. The class became quiet all of a sudden. So quiet. One could hear a pin if it dropped, and then it became noisy. Voices rose from all angles till the teacher, Mrs. Vincent rose her right hand, motioning for them to keep quiet.

"You are late,Ruby." She said in her usual high pitched voice.

"I- I know .I'm sorry." I exhaled. She nodded.

"Sit down."

I took my normal seat at the far end of the hall, directly beside the window. That way, if things got too boring in class, I would always have something else to look at.

"Now class. As I was saying, "she paused. "An old student of ours has returned after being away for a couple of years." She paused. The class went quiet instantly. Who was crazy enough to transfer schools in twelfth grade? "A lot of you might know him since he is very popular among kids your age."

No fucking way.

Whoever this was had better be worth it.

Mrs. Vincent was blushing.

"I know you are all very excited to find out who it is and I do hope you will all be on your best behavior when he walks in." She paused and then turned towards the door. "Please come in." She called. Everyone waited in anticipation as the door opened slowly. The scent of his cologne introduce him before he even walked into the lab and when he did, jaws dropped.

This better be a dream!

"Would you like to say something to the class? Mrs. Vincent stepped aside.

"Yes please." He took her position in front of the class. He looked around for a while and his eyes seemed to light up when they spotted me. He threw a devilish smile in my direction.

"Hello Ruby." He grinned. "And every other person in this classroom." He paused again. "For those of you that do not know me yet, my name is Jason. Jason Monroe."

My jaw dropped.

What the actual fuck?!

Kimberly's POV

I let out a loud frustrated sigh as I threw my phone on the bed. Izzy's number was still switched off. It had been a week since I last saw her. As a matter of fact, I hadn't seen her since that night. When I woke up the next morning, she was gone and so were all her belongings. Her phone had been switched off and nobody knew where the hell she was. I was so worried. I looked up the moment I heard a knock on the door.

"Come in." I called softly.

"Hi." Elizabeth poked her head in through the door. I jumped a bit.

I was definitely not expecting it to be her.

She smiled faintly and then opened the door a bit more. My heart was racing. We had never gotten the opportunity to talk before. Not since the engagement dinner and I was nervous as hell. Who would be if they were exchanging glances with the woman that birthed the Monroe siblings? I rubbed my sweaty hands on my night dress and then exhaled. I'd been so surprised when I got a call from Roxi earlier and she'd told me that Elizabeth requested that I spent the night in the penthouse. I felt like I didn't have much if a choice. After all, she was my soon to be mother-in-law and I wanted a chance to get to know her better.

"You don't have to be frightened dear, I don't bite." She sat down on the bed beside me. I felt my cheeks turn red and I tried my best to cover it up with a smile.

"I'm sorry Mrs.Monroe, I-" The rest of my words dried in my throat. She smiled kindly and then gave me a sympathetic look that said she understood.

"Call me Elizabeth." She reached for my hand and then squeezed it. "How're you feeling?" She rose her eyebrows. "You'll be married in two days. Are you nervous?"

I paused for a short moment. Was I nervous?

I didn't feel nervous.

I shook my head. "Not really."
She smiled warmly and then stuffed her hand in the small pockets of her night dress. She pulled out a small jewelry box.

"I got you something." She stretched it towards me. My heart sank.

"You-" I paused. "You didn't have to."

"Come on." She stuffed the box in my hand. I reached for the lid of the box and then slowly pulled it open. I gasped as I stared at the beautiful charm bracelet in the box.

"Oh My God!" I muttered softly. It was the most magical thing I had ever seen. A gold charm bracelet with tiny, little fairies dangling from it.

"Its an heirloom." She went further to explain. "Its been in my family for years. From my great great grandmother, to my great grandmother, to my Grandma, my mother, and then to me." she smiled faintly as though she was deep in thought. "I want you to have it." She continued. I frowned and all of a sudden, I felt as though I was taking something that wasn't mine.

"I-" I stammered. "I can't."
Her face fell and her eyebrows rose in an inquisitive manner.

"You don't like it?" Her expression saddened.

"No!" I answered almost immediately. "No." I repeated, a lot calmer than the first time. "Its not that. I-I love it but it isn't mine." I turned red with embarrassment when I realized how stupid I actually sounded." I mean, Roxi is your daughter. This-this should be hers." I stammered. She looked at me for a moment before she let out a low chuckle.

"Don't be ridiculous. I want you to have this." She pulled the bracelet out of the box and then looked at it for a while. "I know this sounds stupid, but this bracelet brought a lot of luck to me. "She paused. "My kids believe its just some bracelet with a silly superstitious belief behind it, and even if it might be, I want it to go to someone who would grow to appreciate it." She stretched the bracelet towards me. "The way I do."

I looked at the bracelet for a short moment and then looked up at her. Her eyes watched me expectantly, lighting up when I offered her my arm.

She fastened the bracelet round my wrist and then smiled.

"It looks beautiful on you."

"Thank you." I returned the smile.

She nodded and then stood up.

"You should get some rest." She gave my hand a light squeeze.

"Goodnight Mrs. Monr- Elizabeth." I corrected myself quickly. She chuckled.

"Goodnight Kimberly." I watched her walk away until she was out the door. I slowly lay down on the bed and then exhaled,my eyes never leaving the bracelet.

Good luck

Good luck

Good luck.....

I could really use some luck.

And then I slept off.
