Roxi's POV

"Thank you for the ride." I said almost as much as the car came to a halt in front of the company building.

"Its no biggie." Richard's British accent was still as promounced as ever. I drew in a deep breath and then exhaled.

"I'm nervous."

I'm nervous.

The words played in my head over and over again.

I was never nervous.

Allow me to rephrase that statement, I was barely ever nervous.

But here I was, fidgetting like a little girl who was just caught stealing candy from a store.

"You're gonna be fine." He placed his hand over mine in a reassuring manner and then squeezed it and for a short moment,I let myself get lost in his deep blue eyes.

"I uh-" I slowly pulled my hand from his hold and then pretended to push some strands of hair away from my face, although I was pretty sure my braids were completely fine. I bit my lip. "I should go."

Silence.

He said nothing, he just sat there, staring at me. I cleared my throat.

"Goodbye Richard." I opened the door and then climbed out. "Thanks for the ride."

I was aware I had thanked him before, but believe me, when you run out of words, well... you're out of words.

He finally shifted his gaze and then nodded.

"Anytime."

I smiled and then turned to go.

"Roxi?" He called. I whirled around quickly. "You forgot this." He stretched a brown envelope towards me. I drew in a deep breath and then reached for it. "He would be one bloody idiot not to realize how lucky he is to have you." He paused. "All of you." He slowly added. There was hurt in his voice and I felt a slight pull in my chest. I smiled faintly and then sighed. I watched him reverse the car and then drive away.

I met Richard when I was sixteen. I had gotten a job at a coffee shop upper east side, Morning Glory, which his father happened to own. He was a spoiled ass rich kid and I was a poor girl barely managing to survive. Our relationship was a titanic ship just waiting to sink and deep down, I think we both knew that but we were just too in love with each other to acknowledge the fact that there was no future for us. Until he left for college.

And then I met Will...

I let out a breath as I moved towards the building in front of me. I smiled in response to the greetings some of the workers tossed my way as I made for the private elevator. I drew in another deep breath as I walked in. I pushed the button to the thirty-first floor and then reminded myself to calm down.

It was Will.

What could go wrong?

What would go right?

Urgh!!

The 'ding' sound from the elevator brought me back to earth. I drew in a deep breath and then walked out. His secretary, Denise seemed so engrossed in whatever she was looking at in her phone and didn't seem to notice my presence. Not until I spoke up.

"Is my husband in?"

She jumped in shock, dropping her phone in the process.

"Oh My Gosh, Mrs. Olsen-"

"Its okay Denise." I smiled sympathetically. "I won't tell." I reassured her. She relaxed a bit.

"I'm really sorry. I usually don't use my phone during working hours. I just-"

"Its okay." I cut her off. "Is William in?"

"Y-yes." She stammered. "I'll just- I'll place a quick call to let him know you're here. Let me just-" she bent to pick up her cell phone.

"Its okay." I pursed my lip. "I uh- I want to surprise him." I paused and for some reason, she grinned widely, causing me to smile.

"I won't tell." She winked at me. I grinned at her naively and then shook my head as I made for the door.

She had no idea.

I felt my feet come to a halt when I got to the door as I drew in a deep breath and then reached for the handle. I exhaled and then pulled it open, and then I froze. Completely. I don't know how long I stood like that but Will suddenly pulled away from the lady who sat comfortably half naked on his desk. His hair was an untidy mess and the first three buttons of his shirt had been undone. I let my eyes move further to examine the bare back of the lady who sat in front of him, trying to get the sleeves of her dress back on. She finally turned around to face me and I felt a light scoff escape my mouth.

Of course.

Alessandra Di Dominisis.

Will's work partner.
Wills hot white Italian work partner.

I felt a slight pull in my chest when he slowly withdrew his hand from her already exposed thigh and then raked his hand through his hair.

"Well I-" she pulled up her zipper. "I should go." She raked her hand through her hair as though it would fix the mess it was in. "It's good to see you again, Roxanne." She smirked as she walked past me, leaving a strong trail of her perfume behind as she walked towards the door. "We should have dinner together sometime when you're free." She had a smile glued to her face but her tone was mocking. I finally pulled my gaze away from his when I heard the door close behind me. Tears blurred my vision and I bit down on my lower lip to stop myself from falling apart. I drew in a deep breath and then exhaled. I could still feel his burning gaze on my skin.

"Roxi." He started.

I faked a smile and then looked up.

There was no way I was going to show that I was affected. That he affected me.

"I was in the area and so I thought it was okay to drop by and let you know Kate and Bob are coming over for dinner." He was quiet for a while before he spoke.

"You could have called." His voice was barely audible.

"Well, I was in the area." I bit my lip. "Denise didn't say you were occupied and your door was open so-" My voice broke.

What on earth was wrong with me?
I was usually so good at hiding my emotions but somehow, I couldn't keep them in check right now. Right now when I really really needed to.

"Coming here was a mistake. I- I should go." I stammered and without waiting for a response, I felt my legs bolt towards the door.

"Roxi!"

The teardrops threatening to fall from my eyes caused me to increase my pace.

"Roxi!" He grabbed my arm. I whirled around quickly and before I could stop my hand, it found its way to his face, causing it to tilt a bit to the left, but he recovered quickly. I bit hard on my lower lip when I felt a drop of tear roll down my cheek. I drew in a deep breath and then exhaled.

"Roxi." His gaze softened.

Great. He pitied me.

I felt a light scoff escape my mouth. Slowly, I pulled my hand away from his hold and then cleaned my eyes with the back of my hand. From the corner of my eyes,I could see Denise staring at us from across the table.

Just great!

"I'll see you at home, Will." I said slowly, and with that, I walked away. This time, he didn't hold me back and I didn't expect him to. But still, it broke my heart.

He broke my heart.

All over again.
