Personality

Gretchen is certainly ambitious, determined and rebellious. She has high expectations from her parents and she is expected to achieve them, however her ideal ambitions lie somewhere else: in becoming a blacksmith. She is extremely stubborn and short-tempered, you'll always find her arguing with at least someone. She can also seem quite grumpy most of the time and a tad irritated. She's usually an idealist and mostly trusts her gut, which could be wrong most of the time. However at times, Gretchen tends to be blunt, straightforward and a bit of a realist.

She is adventurous and daring. Gretchen is always up for a new discovery. If she were a guy, she would most definitely be described as chivalrous. Sadly, she isn't courteous at all. She is very clumsy, especially whenever she attempts to dance elegantly. Speaking of, she's quite a messy girl who doesn't understand politeness and elegance, let alone wearing high heels. As mentioned before, she is rebellious and a rule-breaker. She escapes the castle whenever she can just to learn more about forgery and substances and basically all kinds of stuff. This also makes Gretchen a rather curious gal.

She is also a tad overprotective of her little brother, and protects him at all costs. This leads her to become extremely faithful and loyal. She is a trustworthy person and will never leave your side. However, her first impression to others may seem like she is rude and careless - which she most likely is. Being rude can lead to her becoming a sassy yet sarcastic girl who doesn't know how to control her mouth. This can lead to her being an improper lady with a feisty attitude. Yes, she can also be short-tempered, as mentioned before, and looses her cool easily. She's not the most tranquil person in the world.

Gretchen can also be distant and aloof. She's very inattentive and always shuts her ears close whenever she is forced to listen to lectures. She can also be a tad clueless at times but not as clueless as Natsu Dragneel. She doesn't care about what others think of her and believes that she can be whoever she wants to be: if life wants to be fair anyways.

Skills

FORGING — in her free time, Gretchen learns about forging from her neighbouring blacksmith. Since she is very fascinated by it, she might as well learn more about it in secret, which she did. Soon enough, forging had become her strength.

HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT — she's amazing at physical combat, for she has learned from the best: her father. It is because of how great she is that some people might as well mistaken her as a warrior.

WEAPONRY — she is great at not only forging weaponry, but also using them. She is able to fight with long-distance weapons and short-distance weapons, however she still needs some practice.

Flaws

BIG MOUTH — being sarcastic and having such a wild tongue can get Gretchen into trouble at times. She can't control what she says sometimes and it ends up with terrible consequences.

INATTENTIVE — she barely pays attention to her mother's lectures or anything in fact. She doesn't pay attention at all much and this can lead her to become clueless of a specific situation most of the time.

BLUNT — as mentioned before, Gretchen couldn't care less about what other's think which leads her to thinking that she can say whatever she wants to say, making her have a bit of a bad attitude. At times, she can be straight-forward and blunt towards sensitive people and she can hurt their feelings without realising it.

ETIQUETTE — Gretchen is definitely not fit to be a Queen. She's not elegant, punctual nor does she have good etiquette. She even gets bullied at times because of how unfit she was to be Queen. But does she care? Nope.

Backstory

Gretchen grew up in the royal family of Attrusa. As a child, she was meant to be used to etiquette, being elegant and becoming next in line for the throne as Queen. However, even if she was to be trained when she was young, Gretchen was always a disappointment. She would stumble and fall upon every step she would take while dancing 'elegantly' and she would trip whenever she attempted to wear high heels. Gretchen gave up on the royal life and knew that her interests didn't lie there so she ventured outside of the castle one time in the middle of the night and decided to explore the peasant village.

You see, Gretchen never got to explore the peasant village nearby because her mother was strict and was afraid that she'll become a peasant herself when she hangs out with them. Nevertheless, being the rule-breaker she is, Gretchen went out in the middle of the night one time to explore it. There, she met a hardworking blacksmith busily forging a sword. Amazed by it, Gretchen had decided to ask the blacksmith all about his job. It was from that day onwards did she knew that her interests lie in forging things.

Her mother, the Queen of Attrusa, had grown suspicious of her daughter day by day. Soon enough, she found out when she was taking a midnight stroll around the village. Having a short-temper then, the current Queen of Attrusa had the blacksmith be executed right on the spot, despite it being midnight and despite her daughter's protests. Since then, the two had never looked eye to eye. Currently, her mother had become terribly sick and has given up her crown. Gretchen is soon to become the new queen of Attrusa.
