More Hospital Time

"So how is she?" April asked once they had been taken to a room and had run tests on Mal. The doctor just sighed as she looked at April making April worried as she didn't like it when doctors sighed like that.

"Okay I don't like that sound!" April told the doctor as she began to worry more. "We're not too sure yet," the doctor told April, making her look at the doctor in disbelief. "She coughed up blood!" April practically screamed out as she couldn't believe the doctor wasn't doing more to help her sister.

"Yes we are aware of that," the doctor told April, making April almost lose it as she was worried about her sister and didn't like not knowing what was wrong. "Coughing up blood is just normal now!" April asked with an attitude as she didn't care if she sounded rude she just wanted answers.

"I never said that. It's definitely not normal. We have her on antibiotics and ivs. She will need to stay here until her symptoms have died down," the doctor told April who nodded as she started to calm down a little bit.

"Okay but what is actually wrong!" April asked as she again wanted answers. "We're actually still waiting on those results but for now she should be fine as long as she's here. I assure you we are doing our best to make sure she has the best care available," the doctor told April who nodded as she was starting to get frustrated again, but didn't want to start anything if Mal was at least getting the help she needed.

"So anymore questions," the doctor asked making April nod as she was getting curious about how Mal's levels were going considering she wasn't around much before but now that she was she wanted to be involved,

"Yes, how is treatment going?" April asked, making the doctor sigh again. "Like I said we're still waiting on the final results on those as well," the doctor told April, making her lose it as she couldn't take it anymore.

"So you know absolutely nothing right now!" April asked with an attitude as she was sick of getting no answers to her questions. "We're doing our best I can assure you," the doctor told April, making her scoff.

"Then how do you not have any information! She has leukemia and she's coughing up blood and throwing up! Do your fucking job!" April screamed out as she couldn't take it anymore. She wanted to know what was wrong with her two year old sister, but the doctors didn't seem to know anything.

"I'm so sorry for the wait but it just takes time to get the results sometimes. I assure you we will let you know as soon as we get them," the doctor told April as she completely understood her frustration.

"Just hurry up then!" April called out, making the doctor nod again as she got up. "Yes of course! I'm going to go check up on those now," the doctor told April as she quickly left. Once the doctor left Mal just smiled as she reached for April.

"I wa pway!" Mal told April who just looked at the toddler. "You want to play?" April asked as she had been trying her best to understand Mal but sometimes she still struggled. Mal just smiled and nodded, making April sigh.

"Mal we can't right now. You have to stay here," April told the toddler whose eyes widened in panic. "No pokies!" Mal cried out, making April sigh as she nodded. " I know they suck huh," April told the toddler trying to bond more with her, making Mal nod.

"No pokies!" Mal cried out again as she tried to pull at her IVs making April panic as she immediately grabbed Mal and stopped her. "No!" April told Mal sternly, but Mal just ignored her as she pulled the ivs out anyway and took off running.

"No pokies!" Mal cried out again as she took off out the door making April panic as she quickly ran after her. "MAL!" April screamed out as she ran to try and catch up with the runaway toddler.

Once Mal had made it out of the room she kept running until she accidentally ran into someone knocking her down and making her start sobbing as more bruises started to form. "Whoa sorry!" Lola told the toddler as she helped her up, making the toddler look at her in shock as Lola looked just like her mama and big sisters.

Lola just laughed as she looked at the shocked toddler as she found it both adorable and hilarious. "Am I that scary?" Lola jokingly asked the toddler, making her shake her head no as she finally managed to get past her shock.

"Well I'm just here waiting on my friend Jenny. Turns out it's not a good idea to make bets with someone who's normally not reckless," Lola playfully told the toddler just trying to keep her occupied as Lola was bored and she could tell the toddler was scared.

Lola wasn't that big on kids, but there was something about this one that was just different, but she couldn't figure out why. "I hab a nobow pokie! Owie!" Mal told Lola as she pointed to her arm where it was bleeding a little from when she pulled out the IV.

Lola just smiled as she looked at the little girl. "You're adorable you know that," Lola told the toddler who was about to respond when April finally caught up as she ran and picked up the toddler.

"There you are!" April called out as she just held Mal close to her not even noticing the other girl who looked almost identical to her. "Oh sorry she ran into me. I was just talking with her. Dude she's adorable you're lucky," Lola told April as she assumed the toddler was hers.

April just rolled her eyes as she hated the word lucky right now. Nothing about this situation was lucky. "I wouldn't really say lucky right now," April told Lola with an attitude making Lola confused before she remembered where they were.

"Oh right, hospital! She looks fine though what's she even here for. Did she like fall and need stitches or something because that's why I'm here. My friend Jenny is not good at being reckless," Lola rambled out but she immediately stopped when April spoke up.

"We're here for Oncology," April told Lola, making Lola completely freeze up as she tried to remember what that was but immediately felt like throwing up when she realized what oncology meant.

"Oncology? Oh wait, that's the um...the..." Lola began but was interrupted again when April had enough. "Cancer unit?" April asked Lola, making Lola sadly nod. "Yeah um that. I'm so sorry I didn't realize. She looks so normal, well not normal but um... you know what I mean right!" Lola rambled out as she was feeling sad and didn't want to upset April anymore than she probably had already.

"Yeah well anyway if you'll excuse us she should be in her bed with her ivs not wandering the halls! Mal let's go!" April told the toddler who just shook her head no as she squirmed down and ran to Lola.

"Noooo! No pokies!" Mal cried out, making April hold back her tears. "Mal come on please," April practically begged the toddler who just shook her head no as she clung tighter to Lola.

"No!" Mal cried out again as she clung on tighter to Lola. "So is she um here for treatment or..." Lola asked as she wanted information because she was curious, but she didn't want to be overstepping her boundaries.

"No she just had that but she was coughing up blood and had a fever," April told Lola making Lola gasp as she looked at the little girl that was clinging to her. "Oh my god! Is she okay?" Lola asked as she didn't like the sound of that all and it was scaring her.

"Look to be honest I don't know. The doctors don't know sh*t! And honestly I'm not the one that normally deals with this stuff. My twin sister that I didn't even know I have does," April told Lola making Lola look at her like she was insane.

"Okay what?" Lola asked in confusion, making April sigh. "It's complicated," April told Lola who just nodded. "Wahhhhh! Wahhhhh! I wan mama! Owie! Owie! Owie!" The young toddler just started crying out, making Lola panic as she immediately handed the toddler back to April.

"Is that normal," Lola asked in concern, making April lose it as she was trying hard to deal with this all but it was too much. No wonder Ava was always so stressed and drinking."I don't know! Okay I don't know! I don't even know what I'm doing!" April cried out making Lola look over at the toddler as she got more worried.

"Okay she's getting like really pale! What kinda of um cancer does she have?" Lola asked in concern. "Leukemia why," April asked, making Lola worried. "That's the blood one right?" Lola asked, making April's eyes widen in realization.

"Yes! Okay look it was nice talking to you um..." April began making Lola finish for her. "Lola," Lola told April who just nodded as she didn't really care at the moment but didn't want to be rude as Lola was just trying to help.

"Yeah okay um Lola but I should seriously get her back to that bed before something happens!" April quickly told Lola who nodded as she was about to just let April go, but she just couldn't do it.

"Right but I um I know this is stupid but do we look the same?" Lola asked as she tried to not say anything, but just couldn't do it. "Okay we definitely do!" April told Lola as she looked at her in shock, making Lola nod.

"Yeah I thought that but didn't want to say something since you're busy clearly but I just couldn't help myself," Lola rambled out again making April just roll her eyes as she didn't have time for small talk.

"Yeah well my twin looks like me too and so does our other little sister and our parents apparently love giving kids away so I would look into family DNA tests heads up," April told Lola making Lola look at her in complete shock and disbelief as he tried to take in what April said.

"Huh," Lola asked, making April shrug. "I'm just saying you can never trust anyone, sometimes even your own family. Anyway I really have to get her back before something happens or before they call the authorities and claim I'm trying to walk out with a cancer child without being discharged," April told Lola as if what she just said wasn't completely life changing as he just walked away with Mal leaving Lola by herself in shock.

"Wait! Great and she's gone!" Lola told herself as she just made her way over to the receptionist as she wasn't done talking with that slightly older girl that looked like her especially not after that bombshell she just dropped on her.
