Another Jalali Down

Ava just continued to chug and chug as she felt the alcohol burn as it went down her throat and into her stomach. Ava knew this was wrong, but right now she just couldn't take it anymore. Everything was just too much. She could even still hear Mal's screams of pure torture and she couldn't stop thinking about how she had been part of it.

How was it fair that Lola and April both got to leave while she had to hold Mal down while she kicked and screamed and begged them to stop! How was it fair that she was only 20 and forced to deal with such a huge responsibility as this! And how was it fair that her own parents could do this to her!

As the questions kept building up in her head and the anger grew more and more Ava's drinking increased rapidly until she could barely even stay up anymore from how much she had taken in. Just as Ava was about to just let the alcohol keep taking over the door opened as Tessa came back in.

"Um hi I'm sorry I just accidentally forgot my ... um are you okay?" Tessa asked in concern as she immediately ran to Ava. Ava just rolled her eyes as she looked at the younger girl and nodded then kept chugging.

"Are you sure because you don't look so good? Is this alcohol!" Tessa cried out as she grabbed the flask out of Ava's hands and smelled it. Ava just rolled her eyes again as she tried to act like she was fine despite barely being able to even focus.

"I... am...an...an... a...an...ad...an...ad...an ad...ult," Ava slurred out as she began to sway a little from the dizziness. Tessa quickly began to panic as she continued to watch Ava in her drunken state.

"How much have you drunk!" Tessa cried out, making Ava shrug as she honestly couldn't even remember. "3 orrr 4," Ava slurred out again causing Tessa's eyes to widen as she became more concerned.

"3 or 4 what! 3 or 4 bottles? 3 or 4 shots? 3 or 4 sips?" Tessa screamed out as she had no clue what that meant but she was pretty sure it was bad. "I...don't...I...don't...reallyyyy...re...mem...ber," Ava stumbled out as she felt her heart start racing and it was suddenly becoming hard to breathe.

Tessa just ran over to her again as she put her hand on Avas chest and could immediately feel how fast Ava's heart was beating. "Your eyes are glossed over! You're extremely pale and your breathing and heart rate are completely messed up! Why would you do this to yourself! " Tessa cried out again as she was only 17 and she didn't know how to deal with a situation like this.

She barely even knew Ava but for some reason she felt like she was watching her own sister do this to herself. Which was making this situation even harder and scarier for her to deal with.

Tessa began to panic more as she could see Ava starting to get worse and worse as she quickly started pushing the call button and screaming for help. Ava rolled her eyes again as she tried to get up but ended up just stumbling.

"I'm... fi...oh no..." Ava called out as she practically fell to the ground and started throwing up. This caused Tessa to almost lose it as she ran to help Ava up. "HELP! SOMEONE HELP!" Tessa cried out hysterically as she was terrified right now and just wanted someone older and experienced to help her with this situation.

Ava just quickly pushed Tessa away as she was barely even in control of herself right now. "I don't need youuuuu! My baby hates me cause of you! It's your fault!" Ava screamed out as she tried to push away from Tessa and get back up but as soon as she did she felt her body start to shut down as everything started to go black and before she knew it she was out.

"OH MY GOSH! HELP PLEASE! SOMEONE HELP!" Tessa called out as she just started hitting on the call button over and over again and continued to hysterically scream out for someone to come in and take over.

Finally to Tessa's relief the doctor ran in as she immediately looked at the traumatized teen who had been screaming out. "What happened!" The doctor asked as she quickly ran over to Ava and began to check her over. Tessa just started crying as she looked at the doctor.

"She was drinking and then she started swaying and throwing up and I think she has alcohol poisoning! She won't wake up!" Tessa sobbed out to the doctor who just nodded as she quickly called for backup.

"Wait, what do we do about her daughter?" One of the nurses asked as she pointed to the toddler who was still passed out once they had quickly rushed Ava back for treatment. "I can stay with her till someone else can come," Tessa hesitantly told the nurse.

It was late and she had school in the morning, but she didn't feel right leaving the poor toddler scared and all alone plus something inside her made her feel like she was meant to stay with Mal.

The nurse just nodded as she quickly left and followed after the doctor. "I guess I'm skipping tomorrow," Tessa whispered under her breath as she sat down and sighed while looking at the sleeping toddler.

Tessa slowly began to drift away into sleep as everything was peaceful and quiet except the sound of the machines in the room, but just as Tessa was about to just give into the sleep Mal woke up as she started screaming and crying.

Mal had no clue where her mommy was and she didn't see her sisters or brother either, making her terrified as she just started crying even louder. Tessa immediately jumped up as she looked at the terrified two year old.

"Hey it's okay. I'm here. I know I'm not your mommy or anyone else but I'm still here," Tessa told Mal in her gentle voice trying to calm her down but unfortunately that did the opposite as Mal started screaming harder as soon as Tessa mentioned her mommy.

"MOMMY!" Mal sobbed out as she just wanted her mommy back. She wasn't mad at her anymore and she just wanted her mommy to hold her again. Tessa watched as Mal's screaming got louder and louder as she continued to cry out for her mommy.

"Probably shouldn't have said that," Tessa told herself as she continued to try and calm Mal down but unfortunately nothing seemed to be working. Before Tessa could really process what was happening the door opened again as April came rushing in.

"Please tell me this is just some sick joke!" April rambled out causing Tessa to turn away from the sobbing toddler as she turned her attention to April. "Um hi," Tessa began but was cut off as April didn't feel like going through any introductions or anything.

"Where is Ava!" April asked, getting straight to the point making Tessa feel uncomfortable. "I don't...I don't...I don't really know. She passed out and they rushed her for help. I should probably go now that you're here," Tessa nervously told April as struggled to get the words out.

April just nodded as Tessa quickly got up and left accidentally running into Lola who happened to be coming in as well. "Oh sorry," Tessa told Lola who just gave Tessa a smile. "Nah you're good," Lola told Tessa who just nodded and left while Lola quickly entered the room.

"How is she?" Lola asked April as she tried to calm herself down. "I don't know," April told Lola who just nodded as she started crying. "This is all my fault!" Lola cried out causing April to glare at her.

"What did you do to her!" April screamed out causing Lola to just cry more as she was feeling so guilty. "She was begging for me to stay and I should have! It's all my fault!" Lola sobbed out causing April to soften up as she stopped glaring at her slightly younger sister.

"It's not your fault. I should have stayed too," April told Lola who was about to respond when Mal's screaming got louder causing both of them to quickly snap out of it as they remembered Mal was still there.

"Oh my god how can I forget! Mal! It's okay, tiny. It's okay," April told the small toddler as she sat down by Mal and pulled her close to her while rocking her. "Mommy!" Mal cried out again causing Lola to join in as she sat down by them.

"She's just not feeling well right now but she'll be here soon okay," Lola told Mal trying to help April but Mal still didn't calm down and only calmed down once she fell asleep.

"I'll go check on Ava you stay here," both April and Lola told each other at the same time once Mal had fallen to sleep. "What are you doing?" April asked Lola who just looked at her. "Better question. What are you doing?" Lola asked April back who just rolled her eyes.

"I said I'll go check on her," April told Lola who scoffed. "No I will," Lola told April who just pointed to Mal. "Someone has to stay with Mal," April told Lola who just pointed to her. "You can do that," Lola told April who shook her head no.

"I'm the second oldest that puts me in charge. I'm telling you that you stay with Mal while I check up on Ava. Got that," April told Lola who just scoffed again. "You don't boss me around!" Lola told April in her stern voice as she was sick of the way April was talking to her.

All the arguments caused Mal to wake up yet again as she started crying again. "No yew!" Mal cried out. "Shh Mal it's okay. Look what you did!" April called out as she tried to calm Mal down again.

"Aw come on kid you're okay. I'm sorry for waking you up," Lola told Mal as she began to rub the toddler's back in comfort. "WAHHHHH! WAHHHHH! I wa mommy!" Mal cried out again causing both young adults to nod sympathetically.

"I know Mal we all do but she has to get better soon. I'm sure she'll be here really soon," April told Mal. "Um this is probably a bad time but I thought you might want news on Ava's condition," the doctor told the others as she came in and saw April and Lola trying to calm Mal down.
