Dion sighed loudly and scooted closer to me. I put my arm around him and kissed his horn.
"You alright?" I murmured into his hair.
"Yeah, I'm just worried about Nikon. He said the recovery and physical therapy will take a long while. So I don't know when he'll be back at work again."
"I don't think he will be back," I said and sighed. "Xander is taking him to Hydra to recover and honestly, I don't think they'll be coming back to New Delphi. Xander is very determined."
Dion nodded. "Yeah, I figured. Before it wasn't really a question of physical safety, but now? Nikon would be an idiot to not let Xander pay out his contract. He could die next time. He could've died this time."
I clenched him closer. "But he didn't. He's stronger than that."
Dion nodded and looked up at me. "You could've died when you got shot."
"It takes more to kill me, Dion. And I'm not just saying that to comfort you but... It takes a godly entity to kill me, my siblings and my father. Age, disease or mortal weapons won't kill us."
Dion widened his eyes. "What?"
"Yeah," I said a little awkwardly and shrugged.
"You won't... Grow old?"
"No, I'll stop aging around... Now. Actually."
"So we won't grow old together?" He looked terrified.
I didn't understand. His life would be hundreds of years considering he was half a nymph. They had very long lifespans, if they didn't actually get killed. He could die from a bullet-wound, but it was unlikely he'd die anytime soon from age.
"I... Don't see the issue. We'll have so much time together."
"But I'll die from age at some point. And I'll age. I'll grow old and wrinkle-y but you'll stay like this."
"I don't understand," I admitted. I really didn't understand the issue. "When you die, I'll go to hades with you."
"Arlo, my life doesn't just continue when I die! I know you have a different perception of this concept but this is my life, right now. I don't wanna plan my afterlife as well. Arlo, I wanna plan our life. Our actual life." He rose to his feet and folded his arms across his chest. "You'll have mortal children and you'll watch them grow up and grow old and die. How has this not occurred to you?"
I looked down at my hands. I didn't know what to say. He didn't understand where I was coming from and I didn't know how to explain it to him. This life up here was nice, but it'd mean so very little in the grand scheme of things. The afterlife was forever. We'd be together forever in hades. How could that not excite him?
I'd be with him and our future children in the Elysian fields until the end of times. Death wasn't the end. It was just another step on the ladder of life.
"I-I don't understand," I said again.
I heard him sigh very deeply. Then his hands landed on my knees, spreading my legs so he could kneel in between them.
"Tell me what it is you don't understand," he said softly.
"Life is... It's not just this. To me. It's forever. In the afterlife as well. Dying here is just another step. Then you meet all your loved ones in the afterlife and y-you..." I trailed off. I didn't know how to explain this.
"So, if I died tomorrow, you don't see it as the end of our relationship?" He took my face in his hands, gently forcing me to meet his gaze.
"No, because I will always be with you. No matter where you are." I bit down on my lip.
"You wanna be with me forever? As in, until time ends?"
I nodded.
He moved in and kissed me. Very passionately. It wasn't even soft or anything, it was still loving though.
"I love you," he murmured against my lips.
"You know I love you too."
"I'm sorry I got frustrated. I still gotta wrap my head around you not having the same perception of things as me."
I nodded a bit. "I know it's... A struggle..."
"Arlo, don't even go there," he said softly but still very firmly. "You're not a burden or a struggle. Sometimes people get frustrated, okay? It doesn't mean I don't still love you or that I don't wanna be with you. Forever." He smiled a little goofily. "Forever is a long time. You sure you can handle me for that long?"
I drooped my arm around him and pulled him into my lap. "You are the single most important person in my life. You make me better. A lot better. I don't wanna be without you."
"You won't have to," he whispered and kissed me again.
We went to bed kissing too. Dion wasn't at all done with me and he made that very clear as he undressed me. I kissed his body and he kissed mine. We were very gentle with each other and it was really nice. We had so many ways of expressing our love to each other and I liked all of them, but right now I couldn't really think of a better way than this.
He was under me, moaning softly, looking up at me as he ran his hands over my ribs. I was softly moving my hips back and forth and it felt amazing. He always felt so great.
I dipped down and kissed him, starving for his lips on mine. I just had to feel the softness of his mouth. Growls travelled through my body and I had to momentarily stop the kiss to let them out. It only made Dion smile. He pulled me down again, moaning loudly as I rolled my hips in a different way than before.
"You're amazing," he groaned and dug his fingers into my back.
I tried to not smile but failed miserably. It didn't matter though because he just smiled back and lifted his head, kissing me again.
I wasn't gonna last long like this. He turned me on beyond belief and it was getting harder and harder to not just lose myself.
Apparently, I wasn't the only one with this issue though, because Dion was shaking under me. It was a clear sign of him getting close. He also moaned louder now than before. I grabbed his hand and fitted my fingers in between them. I just had to ground myself somehow and he clenched his hand, the other really digging into my back now.
I went a little faster at him and then he was well taken care of. And that was all I needed to finish myself. I was drenched in sweat and shaking so much.
Dion gently pulled me down so I could rest my head on his chest. His skin was slick with sweat as well, but I didn't even care. I got to be close to him, hearing his heartbeat under my ear. I was the most content I could be.
"Tell me about the Elysian fields," he muttered tiredly.
"They're everything you want them to be. Everything you long for will be given to you. They're so beautiful. There are beaches, harbours, fields, forests, mountains, jungles. Whatever you want. Big cities, villages, lonely planes. Nowhere is off-limits, except for your own personal place. And that'll change after what you want the most. It'll move too. If you want jungles one day and a prairie the next, it'll move. You'll never go hungry but there'll be so much food. You'll never go thirsty, but there are spring with ambrosia and nectar. Everything you could ever want is there."
"As long as you are too," he whispered.
I kissed his chest, running my tongue over his skin. It tasted salty. "I'll be where you are."
"Promise me."
"I promise." I moved up and kissed him.
