The moment of truth

The last chapter is approaching ladies and gentlemen!

It won't be the end of Allam and Aloy's story, I still have one last surprise for all of you. I hope you enjoy this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Pov General

Allam opened his eyes and the first thing he saw was the window of his room, seeing that the sun was already outside. The man also realized that he had Aloy peacefully asleep in his arms. The young man smiled and kissed the woman on the forehead and got up from the bed.

As the soldier got up, he began to stretch his muscles and crack his bones, during his stretching, he checked the time and noticed that it was eight in the morning. The man changed into more comfortable clothes, sportier one's, you could say; and he left the room and went into the living room, where he would start his little exercise session.

The man did about 100 push-ups, 70 sit-ups, 60 crunches and went for a 3-mile run around the Sacred Lands, letting the fresh air of the region help him wake up. During his run, he greeted the Noras that he met along the way, who returned the greeting, accustomed to the presence of the ancient soldier.

For the Nora tribe, it was very normal to see the soldier exercising or training alongside the tribe's Braves in his spare time, so it was not strange for them to see the man running along the paths of the valley.

After his exercise session, the ancient soldier took a shower and changed into clean clothes. His clothing consisted of the woodsy camouflage pants of his old military uniform, with brown combat boots and a black t-shirt, over which he had a fur coat to protect him from the cold.

The soldier went to the kitchen and decided to prepare breakfast. Allam took some flour tortillas out of the cupboard, took a piece of smoked wild boar and cut them into small pieces, then heated them up, took two eggs and fried them, leaving the yolk a little raw, so that it would bleed when he bites into it, and took out a few vegetables and chopped them. The former soldier planned to make breakfast omelets.

As he prepared the meal, certain thoughts began to invade his mind.

Allam Pov

It could be that Aloy is pregnant. Will I be a good father? Will I be mentally prepared to be a dad?

I'm terrified of failing her...and it's not just because I'm insecure, will I be able to protect her from the world?

I took a breath and decided to push those intrusive thoughts out of my head.

Me: I shouldn't be thinking about that now, I should be concentrating on helping Sarah with the GAIA issue, that topic about the possible pregnancy, it will be for later -I told myself in a low voice to try to concentrate on my cooking.

It didn't take me much time or effort to make the dish, at the moment of putting the dish on the table, the curtains of the room opened and Aloy came out, half asleep. The woman pounced on me, giving me a big hug. I kissed the redhead on the forehead, making her smile at me.

Me: Good morning, beautiful -I greeted her.

Aloy: Good morning -she said, still leaning against me.

Me: Did you sleep well? No nausea today? -I asked curiously, she shook her head at me.

Allam: I'm glad, I've already made breakfast, it's on the table. Yours is that plate over there -I pointed to the plate at the other end of the table, she nodded and moved away from me.

Aloy sat down at the table, guided by the smell of food. I watched with a smile as she grabbed her tortilla and as she took her first bite of the tortilla, I saw Aloy's green eyes widen. The woman proceeded to eat the tortillas excitedly, apparently, she had liked them. Seeing her so happy eating, I decided to serve myself and sat down in front of her.

Me: Eat more slowly, love, the food is not going anywhere -I told her as a joke, making Aloy start eating a little slower.

General Pov

As the couple ate breakfast, the red-haired woman began to remember the important discovery she had made a few hours ago, but now that she was thinking about it a little more clearly, perhaps she should make sure that she really was pregnant before telling Allam.

Aloy POV

Me: Now that I realize, the data I read last night mentioned something about doing some kind of test to be 100% sure if I was pregnant -I thought, as I ate my breakfast.

Me: Maybe if I ask Janet about that test, maybe she can do it for me and know for sure...it will be embarrassing, but nothing I can't beat -I said to myself in my mind.

I was so deep in thought that the sound of a finger snap snapped me out of my trance. I looked at Allam who looked worried.

Allam: Are you feeling alright? -the man asked me, and I nodded.

Allam: Did you hear what I just said? -he asked me, and I shook my head, a little embarrassed.

Allam: Well, I was just saying, how about we go visit Sara and see if we can help her with this GAIA mess. If I'm not mistaken, Janet should be there today too -explained my boyfriend and I nodded.

Perfect!

Me: Sure, why not? -I said with a smile, to which he nodded.

After breakfast, I changed and got ready to leave. After donning my Shieldweaver armor, we headed to the SIGMA Cauldron, Sarah's workplace. After an hour, we reached the cauldron. After Sarah had moved her work to the cauldron, we used the alternate cauldron entrance, since it goes to the cauldron's core directly. I opened the door and we walked inside it. We walk through the corridors of the cauldron until we reach the core room.

General Pov

The whole room was in an uproar. On its sides were boxes filled with supplies or machine parts. Some rooms were created to accommodate the teenager in case she had to stay longer in the place. There was also a test gallery, where Sarah tested or repaired the weapons and armor, she made for Allam and Aloy. Shattered or charred mannequins could be seen around that area.

In the center of the room was a huge holographic map of the region, but before that map was there, it was GAIA. The pair saw the teenager working tirelessly as she surveyed the most renowned facilities in the ancient world, hoping to find any clues about a copy of GAIA.

Allam: Hey -said the ancient soldier and the young brunette looked up when she heard her voice.

Sarah: Allam, Aloy, how are you? -The teenager greeted, moving away from the table to give the aforementioned a hug.

Allam: We're fine. But you? You need sleep-said the ancient soldier looking at his younger sister with sympathy.

The teen had big dark circles under her eyes, her gaze looked tired, and her hair was a mess.

Sarah: I'll be fine...after I find that stupid copy -said the teenager somewhat irritated by exhaustion.

Aloy: Why don't you let Allam, and I check? Perhaps we can find more information about a copy of GAIA -said the woman and the teenager remained thoughtful.

Sarah: Okay...Allam may have more luck finding something, being a military man -she said walking away from the map.

Aloy led the teen to her room and Allam walked over to the map. He connected his Focus to the terminal and accessed the data and maps. As the data loaded, more locations appeared on the map. Former military bases and installations, plus the nuclear silos that Allam had control over.

Allam: Bingo -the man said, bringing a confident smile to his face.

With Sarah and Aloy...

Aloy was leading the exhausted teenager into her bedroom, to let her rest. She opened the door to Sarah's bedroom and helped her lie down on her bed. The teenager thanked her for her gesture, as she sighed tiredly.

Sarah: What are we going to do, Aloy? I need to find that copy of GAIA, I have to repair the terraforming system to make the machines go back to work like they were before and if I don't do it, many people are going to die and -said the teenager, catastrophizing the situation, but Aloy put her hand on the teen's shoulder and smiled at her.

Aloy: Don't worry, we'll think of something. For now, just rest -said the redhead, to which the brunette nodded.

Sarah: You're right -said the teenager.

Sarah let out a sigh and began to remove her overalls, leaving her in her underwear and her shirt, nothing more. The young woman wrapped herself in her sheets and asleep after a few minutes.

The redhead turned off the lights in the room and let the teen sleep. Aloy walked through the halls until she came back to the main room. As she entered, she realized that Allam was not alone, Janet was also next to him reading the data.

Allam: I doubt it's in Massachusetts -commented the old soldier.

Janet: You never know, Al. Maybe one of Miriam Technologies branches will have a copy -the curly-haired girl explained.

Aloy cleared her throat to get the siblings attention, causing them to turn their heads in the direction of the sound.

Janet: Oh, hey Aloy, we hadn't seen you there. How are you? -the teenager greeted.

Aloy: I'm fine. Hey, I have to ask you a question, it's a...personal matter -said the redhead somewhat embarrassed, which caught both siblings off guard.

Janet: Sure. Why not? -the young woman agreed.

Janet: Excuse me Al -the dark-haired woman apologized and the old soldier simply smiled at her.

Allam: Don't worry, go and help Aloy, I'll keep looking for information here -said the ancient soldier, reassuring her.

Janet nodded and left with Aloy, taking her somewhere a little more private, so they could talk. Both women entered one of the empty rooms and sat on some boxes.

Janet: All right. What did you want to talk-? the young woman asked, but she was interrupted by Aloy.

Aloy: IthinkImpregnant -said the redhead red as a tomato and quickly.

Janet: W-Wait, come again? -the teenager asked, not sure what she had heard.

The huntress sighed and stomped her hands on her face, trying to work up the courage to tell the news to the second youngest Blake.

Aloy: I think...I'm pregnant -the redhead said sheepishly, causing the teen to look at her in surprise.

Janet's eyes widened and her mouth was almost on the floor. The teenager smiled and jumped at the redhead, who was taken off guard by the reaction of the minor.

Janet: When did you find out? How many weeks have you been? Does Allam know? Are you thinking of names? Do you want it to be a boy or a girl? Can I name the baby? -Asked the excited teenager, almost jumping with emotion.

Aloy: J-Janet, wait. I'm not 100% sure, I read some data on my focus, and I had the symptoms it was talking about. I read that there is some kind of test that I can do to know for sure if I'm really pregnant or not -explained the woman and the dark-haired teenager nodded, listening to the woman's words.

The young Blake began to think about the words said by the redhead, until she had an idea.

Janet: Wait for me here, I'm going to look for something that can help you -said the teenager, to then leave the room and come back a while later, carrying some kind of device.

Aloy: What is that? -asked the redhead curiously, as she analyzed the machine with her Focus.

The machine was medium in size, it looked like some kind of microscope, but twice as big. The device had a holographic screen on the top, in which the name of different body fluids were read on it. Under the screen there was a compartment, in which there was a rack capable of carrying several sample tubes.

Janet: It's based on a machine from the past, I call it The Analyzer...because I don't remember the real name of the machine, but I'm 85% sure that that's what it was called -explained the teenager with a smile.

Janet: Sarah helped me put it together. In simple terms, this baby analyzes body fluids looking for irregular things that we may not be able to see -explained the young woman.

Aloy: Like piss-? the redhead asked, but her question was quickly answered by the teenager.

Janet: Sweat, blood, urine; whatever is liquid and comes from your body, the machine will analyze it and tell us what it will find -explained the young woman again.

Janet: Well, we need a blood or urine sample, whichever you prefer -said the teenager as if nothing in the world, but the redhead was dumbfounded.

Aloy: B-Blood or u-urine? -asked the young woman and the black-haired woman nodded.

Janet grabbed two tubes and held them in front of Aloy.

Janet: The one on the left is a urine sample tube and the one on the right is a blood sample tube. You decide which one you want to fill, it doesn't have to be both -explained the black-haired woman as if nothing happened, while Aloy looked at both bottles unsurely.

Aloy: I'm...going with the...urine? -she said, not quite sure of her answer.

Janet: Well, urine is then, let me explain everything you have to do and we can start -said the teenager passing her the urine bottle.

Janet explained to Aloy what she was supposed to do and sent her to the bathroom to do what she was supposed to do. After a few minutes, Aloy came back into the living room with a jar full of urine. Janet grabbed the vial, gloved, of course, and inserted it into the analyzer.

Janet: Now, let's wait -commented the teenager, looking at the time in her spotlight.

Aloy: How long do we have to wait? -asked the redhead curiously.

Janet: Well, this device is better than the one in the past. Before, it took you hours or even days to know your results, but this baby does tests in a good couple of minutes -explained the black-haired girl, to which Aloy nodded.

Both girls sat on the boxes again, this time in a somewhat tense silence. Janet decided to break the ice. The teen caught the redhead's attention, causing her to focus on her.

Janet: What if you really are pregnant? -asked the black-haired girl.

The huntress heaved a sigh.

Aloy: To be honest, a part of me is excited, I never had a mother and...the fact that I may become one makes me very excited...but at the same time, it worries me -explained the redhead, surprising Janet.

Janet: What are you worried about? -asked the young woman.

Aloy: The fact that I was created to save the world. I stopped HADES and HEPHAESTUS, but GAIA is still inactive, HEPHAESTUS is still doing its thing and I fear that the terraforming system will damage life on Earth. I am the one who must restore GAIA and repair the system -explained the woman, to which the teenager looked at her with pity.

Both sisters know what happened during their adventure in the Cut, so they were well aware of who was creating the combat machines. She got up from her box and took Aloy's hands in hers.

Janet: Aloy, you would do all of that if you were alone, but you're not. Sarah and I are awake, and we can access the Zero Dawn facility, you're not the only one capable of doing so. You don't have to carry the weight of the world on your own -the young woman said, looking into Aloy's green eyes.

Janet smiled at her and gave the redhead a hug, the woman responded with an equal hug.

Janet: I know it's hard, living knowing your life is all about saving the world, but you shouldn't face this alone. At some point in our lives, we feel like the world wants to fall on us, but we can't let those thoughts destroy us. We have to have courage and determination -said the teenager, the redhead listened carefully to the young woman's words.

Janet: When the war against the Faro Plague broke out, I watched as my whole world fell apart, close friends dying, beloved family members being thrown into the fight for their lives, my older brother on the front lines of the war. I thought...many times...in finishing it all...but my family was there to support me...and I remembered the people who died so that I could live -said the teenager, receiving a surprised look from the redhead.

Janet: When I learned to heal people, I felt useful and that I was changing the world, in my own way. Sarah learned about mechanics and engineering so that she could help the soldiers and not give in to the machines and Allam...he was a natural born fighter and became an expert machine killer, in order to save the world. Imagine the pressure I felt when I had someone bleeding to death in front of me and I didn't have enough supplies to heal them, or Sarah not knowing how to repair certain equipment the soldiers needed, and even Allam, being at war trying to save civilians and having the machines killing each of his buddies...as I told you, we have all felt that the world wants to fall on us, but we cannot let that cloud our vision of what really matters, our family and friends and the support they give us -said the teenager with a smile.

Aloy was more than surprised by the maturity of the young brunette. Janet's words made her reflect a little on the future and that "destiny of hers".

She was no longer alone; she had a family and she had friends who wanted to help her. The world doesn't depend on her alone...not anymore. The redhead hugged the teen tightly, who hugged the woman back.

Aloy: Thank you -said the hunter, submerged in the hug.

Janet: You're welcome. That's what family is for, right? -The black-haired girl responded with affection.

As both women embraced, the sound of a bell was heard, drawing the attention of both women.

Janet: The analysis is finished. Ready to know the results? -The teenager commented to which the redhead nodded.

Janet carefully read the information that the device was providing her, until she found what she was looking for.

Janet: Okay Aloy, I have your results -said the young woman inhaling some air.

Janet: You're pregnant -said the teenager, waiting to see the redhead's reaction.

Aloy was surprised, although she suspected it, she felt very different hearing it from someone else's mouth. She was pregnant and was going to be a mother. A smile began to form on the redhead's face, as she put her hands on her belly, caressing it gently.

Aloy: I'm going to be a mom -said the huntress with immeasurable happiness.

Janet: Congratulations -said the teenager with a smile.

The redhead hugged the teenager, and she was almost jumping with excitement.

Janet: How are you going to tell Allam? -the teenager asked, causing the huntress to think about how to tell him.

Janet: Maybe... you can drop a couple of hints about the pregnancy. Maybe he'll realize after a few -commented the black-haired girl, but the redhead looked somewhat insecure about her decision

Aloy: I don't know Janet. It's a good idea, don't get me wrong, but there are times when Allam becomes half stupid and doesn't get the hints -explained the woman, remembering the many times that her boyfriend failed to identify hints.

Janet: Don't worry, if he doesn't notice, we'll go for the most direct method -said the young woman and the hunter nodded.

Aloy: I like it better that way, but let's use your idea and see what happens -said the redhead, to which the teenager nodded.

Both girls left the room back to the main room. Upon arrival, they saw Allam reading data on a map, while he drew imaginary lines in his mind on topics or things that only he knows about. The ancient soldier noticed the presence of both women and greeted them.

Allam: I see you guys already had your talk; I hope Jan has been helpful Aloy -said the soldier and the latter nodded.

Aloy: You have no idea, love -the redhead said with a wide smile.

Hours later...

Allam, Aloy, Janet, and a more rested Sarah, were having lunch, taking a break from their search. As they ate, Allam had noticed that Aloy was already halfway through her second meal. The redhead noticed the surprised look on her boyfriend's face. The redhead decided to take the opportunity to break the news to Allam about her pregnancy.

Aloy: What? -the woman asked, making the soldier blush, embarrassed to be found out.

Allam: N-Nothing, it's just... I'm surprised... that's all -said the soldier nervously, unable to put into words what he wanted to say to his partner.

Aloy: I know it's a lot, but I feel like I'm eating for two -said the hunter, while she looked at the man, out of the corner of her eye.

Allam: Haha, you look like me then. But maybe it's normal, I've always thought that you eat very little, since you move and run a lot -said the soldier with some amusement.

He didn't get the hint?!

The redhead looked at Janet and she saw how the black-haired woman covered her sister's mouth, to prevent her from screaming with emotion at what she heard.

Aloy turned and looked back at the soldier, who was eating his food without any problem.

Me: Well, I say it because I've been eating a lot and it seems as if I have someone else inside me that needs to eat -I told him and this time without causing a reaction in the man.

Allam: Well, maybe you have some...uh, parasite -the ancient soldier said.

Aloy: I wouldn't call it a parasite, more like...a gift -the woman said mentally.

Janet: I don't know, I don't think it's a parasite, I feel more like it's a little person -said the second youngest of the Blakes.

Allam: Hahaha, maybe you ate a dwarf -said the man and the women just looked at him in disbelief.

Janet Pov

He can't be that dense, can he?

That man needs a couple of screws on his head.

Sarah Pov

Is he being dense, retarded or both?

This man is hilariously dense, oh my God.

Aloy POV

You know what? To hell with this shit.

Me: For fuck's sake Allam, I'm pregnant, what more hints do you want? -I told him and the man gaped at me, he was frozen in surprise.

Allam: Y...Are you s-s-serious? -the man said, his lips beginning to quirk into a smile.

I nodded with a smile and Allam had the biggest smile I have ever seen on him in my entire life.

Allam: I'm going to be a dad -said the man in a low voice, as he got up from his seat and approached me.

I was getting emotional, I'm not one to cry and I hate when people see me cry but seeing him smile...it filled me with happiness. The man hugged me and lifted me into the air with all his strength, taking me by surprise.

Allam: I'M GONNA BE A DAD! -the man yelled excitedly.

I looked at Allam and I saw his brown eyes becoming crystal clear, as if they were about to cry, it was an immeasurable happiness, I had never seen him so happy. He was so happy that he was laughing. The man lowered me and gave me a deep kiss on the lips.

Allam: Aloy, this is the best news in the world -said the man happily.

Allam knelt on his knee and took my hands in his, I heard his sisters gasp in surprise.

Allam: Aloy, you are the most beautiful and amazing woman in the world, from the first moment you thawed me out of the ice, I was attracted to you. There is no one in this world, with whom I would ask to spend the rest of my days. I don't have a ring, and this is all off the cuff, but Aloy; Will you marry me? -the ancient soldier proclaimed and after he said the last words, that's when I understood what he was trying to do.

Small tears of happiness escaped from my eyes, I felt a lump in my throat and the best I could do was nod. I threw myself to hug him with all my strength, and then give him a tender kiss on the lips.

I listened as the two teenagers cheered and clapped for us. When we broke away from the kiss, we brought our foreheads together and I lost myself in Allam's brown eyes.

Me: I love you -I told him and he smiled at me.

Allam: I love you more, Aloy -said the ancient soldier, a smile plastered on his face.
