Kai, Mickey, and I are paired up in English class for a presentation about a mental illness. We chose post-traumatic stress disorder. Michael helps out a lot, providing little bits and pieces about the symptoms. Kai and I look at each other once he heads to the restroom. We're at Kai's house, working on the PowerPoint slideshow.

"Is he okay?" I ask Kai. He thinks for a few moments. "He had a major panic attack a few days ago," recalls Kai, "I helped him a bit, but he acted like I was going to hurt him." I think for a few moments. "Do you think he was ... r-raped?" I stutter.

Silence descends upon us as we think about the possibilities that this happened to Michael. We also have a clear idea about who the rapist is. Luca Richards. Now we know the truth about what happened the evening of Michael's birthday. We just need to find a way to tell the police without Luca or Michael finding out.
