Annabeth's POV

I'm happy.

Luke is the only one who can make me happy. So I do as I'm told and try not to mess up.

"Annabeth!" Luke sounded mad.

"Did you talk to that girl again?"

I nodded shamefully and responded in a quiet voice. "It wasn't on purpose. I had bumped into her."

His fists clenched. "I told you! You don't deserve friends. You're a failure. I'm only trying to help you by making sure you don't get close because you're just gonna disappoint everyone you interact with."

"I know." I mumbled incoherently.

He walked back into our room, leaving me in the living room.

But he's right. I've disappointed everyone I've been friends with.
