Percy's POV

I was thrilled when I saw Piper walking towards us with Annabeth. I was hoping to becoming as close as we were back then. But, she had stopped coming.

No one had noticed. No one had noticed the fakeness of her laughs, her smiles, her entire face. When she flashed that dazzling smile, her eyes were dull.

To be fair, I had been the only one to have seen her genuinely laugh. And gosh, it was beautiful. Especially if I knew I was the cause of the happiness.

I wanted to snap out of it. I thought I had gotten over this silly elementary crush, but Annabeth had captivated me.

I've seen her with Luke occasionally. He doesn't make her smile. He doesn't hold her hand as if she's special. He doesn't make her happy.

I wanted to make her happy.
