Chapter 4 - W-wait, what?

Everyone begrudgingly followed Monokuma to the Video Room. Inside, there were various computers. Cool! But... What did he have planned to make them want to murder?

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Kirari stepped inside, thinking,"I wonder what he wants."

"Welcome!" Monokuma greeted them all.

Ray followed in behind, muttering something about Teddy McFluff.

"I heard that!" Monokuma pointed.

Kirari laughed but quickly hid it with a cough which soon turned into a coughing fit.

"You alright?" Terishi raised a brow.

"I'm fine." Kirari muttered.

Ray glanced curiously at Kirari before turning back to Monokuma,"What the heck do you want?"

"To give you all a motive!" Monokuma announced,"A motive to kill!"

"A... WHAT?!" Kirari questioned.

"A motive. Do I need to spell it out for you?" Monokuma asked.

"If I'm being honest, I don't need much motivation. I lost half my sanity being around a certain talking bear." Ray hissed.

"Well, what would this motive be?" Kirari raised a brow.

"A video." Monokuma answered, ignoring Ray.

"Alright, are you going to show us it now or?" Kirari asked.

"Jeez, impatient much?" Monokuma sighed,"Here."

Monokuma then began passing out discs. Ray took his disc and headed over to a computer in the corner of the room. Akira swiftly took her disc as well and put it into the computer beside Ray's, putting on the headphones Monokuma gave her. Kirari took her disc and went to the computer in front of her. The twins gave each other a look of reassurance before inserting the discs into computers next to each other. Soon enough, the others began watching their videos and...

"Do you find this amusing?" Ray asked in a dangerously low voice,"That's my fucking sister!"

"Oops." Monokuma giggled.

Ray inhaled a deep breath before muttering,"Well, if I kill now I'll die so chances are, I'll see her in hell if I do kill."

Stevie was quickly rubbing her eyes, trying to hide the fact that she was crying.

"You better watch what you eat, Teddy because when you mess with my best friend, you sign a contract that you're ready for death threats." Kirari said icily, thinking to herself,"Keep up the act. If they think I'm strong, they won't bother me."

"Damn, your videos sounded pretty bad." Akira looked between them all.

Ray checked his pockets and realized he still had the knives...

"Should I try to kill the bear?" He wondered.

"That's against the rules." Jeff sighed,"He'll execute you on the spot."

"That's true..." Ray growled before he sent a bewildered glance at Jeff.

"What?" Jeff raised a brow.

"How...?" He blinked.

"I'm the Ultimate Chess Player, reading people and their strategies is sort of my thing." Jeff shrugged.

"I'm leaving." Kirari hissed, gritting her teeth.

Ray turned back to Monokuma,"No one is falling for your bs motive, bro. Try harder."

"Yeah, it's stupid." Akira shrugged, seemingly unaffected by the video.

Ray looked at Akira,"Should we like... Go be emotional support or something?"

"Knowing us, we'll just make it worse, but we can try." Akira answered.

"That's true... Anyway, didn't you want to tell me something?" Ray questioned.

"Mhm." Akira nodded, pulling him out of the room.

Sancia was still stood in the video room, staring silently at the screen. Her gaze flickered to Monokuma ever so often. She didn't know what to think of the video. She wanted to sob but there were too many people crying already. She sighed. What had her life come to?

"Hey." Jeff turned to her,"You can cry if you want, we won't judge."

"N-no. It's fine, I'm fine." Sancia managed a shaky smile and paused before asking,"And you?"

"Of course I'm alright." Jeff shrugged,"The videos are probably fabricated."

"Y-you think?" Sancia stuttered, still struggling to get her words out without choking.

"Obviously." They nodded.

Sancia was unsure what to say. She was tempted to watch the video again just to see if what they were saying was true or if they were just saying it for comfort.

"How can you tell?" She asked in the end.

"I can't be certain, obviously, but this is a motive. Monokuma wants us to believe it's real so we'll murder someone." Jeff explained.

"Do you think..." Sancia played with her shirt,"Do you think anyone will fall for it?"

She frowned, using all her willpower not to fiddle with the knife fastened to the inside of your jumper.

"Well, judging purely on human nature, I'd say yes." Jeff sighed.

"Damn." Sancia stated, trying to desperately stop the constant trembles from running through her body,"Human nature sucks."

"Considering how both you and Ray are armed, it makes it more likely." Jeff hummed.

"How did you-" Sancia stared at them in shock before registering what they had said,"I would NEVER!"

Her voice came out as a sort of hiss. Sancia was absolutely terrified by that idea, and even more terrified by the fact that only a few moments earlier, had she considered it!

"Obviously, I'm not scared of you. You're more scared of what you saw in that video but... Someone in this room is." Jeff shrugged, turning to leave.

Sancia stood up abruptly and called after them,"Wait-"

She felt horrible. Someone was scared of her? Sancia. Scary? That... Disturbed her.

"Who... Who is it?" She asked quietly, hoping she could... Apologize.

So she could prove she was innocent and not harmful. She just hoped that they would answer.

"Try and figure that one out yourself, darling." Jeff then walked out of the video room.

Sancia visibly sagged. She stared after them for a while before exiting, only pausing once to glance behind her at the few remaining students. She slowly walked along the winding hallways, eventually coming to her do and settling into the bed. Sancia stared at the wall, allowing her petrified mind to drift away into a fantasy world of her own.

"Mm.." Jay murmured, scanning the other people.

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

"I saw what happened with Stevie last night." She told him.

Ray's eyebrow raised.

"Because I had a nap, I wasn't tired and decided to snoop around to find my lighter since it's been missing since I got here." Akira began.

"Uh-huh." Ray nodded.

"I thought the kitchen would be a good place to start so I went there. Turns out, Stevie was in there. I saw someone go in first and so, me being curious, I followed inside too." Akira continued.

"Reasonable, but who is this person and what did they do?" Ray asked, growing impatient.

"I'm getting to that bit." Akira poked him,"They went in to find a weapon to defend themselves, a knife. Stevie saw and approached them and, well, they weren't expecting it.."

"Jesus, I thought someone hurt her. She was just frightened, thank god." Ray murmured.

"Yeah, getting threatened with a knife can do that to people." Akira nodded,"Maybe we should head to Daiko's dorm, he didn't look so good."

"Yeah..." Ray sighed.

"We'll make him feel better again." Akira then headed in the direction of the dorms and Ray followed her.

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Kirari walked out of the room. The moment she stepped outside, her mask broke. She stifled sobs as she ran back to her dorm. Kirari finally made it back to her dorm. She didn't bother locking the door, she let herself cry. Her tears seemed to never run out. Kirari took a deep breath. It's fine... He can't do anything her, if he wants to use her to make me kill someone... Wait, he CAN! Nevermind, just calm down. Kirari swallowed. Maybe I should take a walk to clear my head...

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Terishi sighed, bringing Daiko back to his dorm. The video had left him shaken up and she thought he'd be safer there. While passing by Kirari's dorm, she heard something that made her stop. Crying? Terishi stood outside listening, quickly jumping back when he heard her footsteps.

Kirari shakily stepped out of her room and noticed her,"O-oh, you're Terishi, right?"

"Yeah.." She nodded slowly,"Do you need to talk?"

Kirari nodded,"Might as well."

"Come on." Terishi gestured for her to follow.

Kirari did so, sadly thinking back to the video.

After a few moments to silent walking, Terishi turned to Kirari,"Was it bad? The video, I mean."

"Y-yeah... He has my best friend." Kirari told her.

"I'm sorry.." She sighed,"He's got my theatre group."

"Oh! Are you okay?" Kirari asked, momentarily forgetting his own troubles.

"I'll be alright. The real question is, are you okay?" Terishi pointed.

"I mean, there may be a few mental breakdowns in the future but other than that, I'm fine." Kirari replied, trying to be optimistic.

"Well, just remember that I'm here if you need someone." Terishi told her.

"Thank you! I'll be there for you, too! She beamed.

"Great." Terishi smiled softly.

"What kind of jewellery do you like?" Kirari asked,"I want to make a thank you gift."

"Oh, I'm not sure. I don't usually wear jewellery." Terishi chuckled nervously,"Maybe surprise me?"

"Well, would you prefer earrings or a necklace?" Kirari tilted her head.

"Hm, a necklace." Terishi nodded.

"Alright! Any favourite colours?" Kirari asked.

"Well, not really." Terishi shrugged,"I like purple."

"Got it... Well, it's a simple idea really but at least I'll finish it quickly!" Kirari nodded.

"It doesn't need to be extravagant, my personality is enough." Terishi winked.

Kirari let out a soft chuckle,"Well, I'll go work on it now!"

"Stay safe." Terishi waved.

Kirari sprinted to her dorm and began to work on the necklace. She planned for it to be a purple necklace with the word 'Terishi' on it and a mask on the 'T'. Once she had the basic shape, she began to work on making the necklace purple. Finally, she added the last details on the mask. Kirari burst out of her room and then realized she didn't know where Terishi's room was. She then looked around and knocked on a random door.

"Yo." A girl with black and green hair opened the door.

"Oh! Sorry, I'm looking for Terishi. Do you know where she is?" Kirari apologized?

"Oh, Masky? She's along the hall."She pointed,"I'm Scorpius, by the way."

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Scorpius. I'll get going now." Kirari walked to where Scorpius had pointed and knocked on the door.

Terishi opened it, hoodie now around her waist,"Hey."

"Hi! I finished the necklace." Kirari held it out to her.

"Oh, thanks." Terishi smiled, leaning against the door.

Kirari stood there awkwardly with her hands out,"So... Are you gonna take it or?"

"Oh, sorry. I got distracted." Terishi quickly took the necklace.

"It's alright!"

Terishi smiled and put on the necklace, it hanging down and being visible below her scarf.

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Soon enough, they reached the dorm and Akira simply walked in. The door wasn't locked, surprisingly.

"Yo, can we come in?" Ray asked.

No response.

"Daiko? Where are you hiding?" Akira began looking around.

Ray glanced skeptically around the room,"There's one person who most likely knows where he is."

"Who?" Akira asked.

"Terishi, who else?" Ray said as if it was obvious.

"Oh, that makes sense." Akira nodded.

Ray walked out of the room and began to search for Terishi. Coincidentally, she had just walked out of her room.

"Yo, Terishi!" Ray called.

"Ray?" She raised a brow,"Do you need something?"

"We're looking for Daiko. He seemed really upset and as his friends, it's only reasonable we try and make him feel better." Ray explained.

"I left him in his room a couple of minutes ago." Terishi told him.

"... We just checked there and assumed you'd most likely know where he would be." Ray told her.

Terishi sighed,"We're checking again."

"Okie dokie, then." Ray said.

Terishi headed back to Daiko's room with Ray and scanned the room, adjusting her glasses.

"He's under the bed." Terishi pointed.

"Ah. To be fair, I knew he was short, I just didn't think he'd be able to fit under there." Ray crouched down and spoke in a low, calm voice,"Hey Daiko, it's gonna be alright. Your sister, Akira and I are here. You can come out whenever."

It took a couple minutes but Daiko eventually crawled out, rubbing his eyes.

"Good lad. Now then, do you want to talk about it?" Ray asked.

"No..." He shook his head.

"That's okay, you can tell us about it later." Ray turned to the girls in search of help with emotional support.

Terishi bent down and wrapped her arms around her brother. Ray backed up, waiting for Daiko to calm down.

"We'll be here when you're ready." Akira ruffled his hair.

"Hope the guys okay, he seems ruffled up." Ray sighed.

"I mean, the videos seemed pretty bad for you guys." Akira shrugged.

"'Twas my little sister, the only family I have left." Ray shook her head.

"I see." Akira nodded,"Mine was my cat."

"Well, that's not too bad, I hope." He sighed.

"Yeah, I feel bad for everyone else with their families involved. Ferrans can look after himself." Akira shrugged.

Ray nodded in understanding before asking intently,"Who do you think is going to die first?"

"If I'm being honest." Akira then whispered,"Scott. He seems too gullible."

"Fair enough." Ray nodded.

"Then again, he does seem like he could fight back." Akira mumbled.

"Reasonable as well! Now, if you were going to murder someone, who would it be?" Ray asked quietly.

"Hm, I'm not sure." Akira shrugged.

"I actually have a person in mind but it's awfully risky. Anywho, let's go back inside and check on Daiko." Ray said the first part quietly.

Akira nodded, biting her lip slightly.
