Prologue - Dissolved Hope

"This is it." Stevie sighed, looking up at the large building in front of me.

Oh, who was she? Well, her name is Stevie Hendrix and she has been chosen to attend Hope's Peak Academy. Her talent? She's the Ultimate Caregiver!

Just to make sure Stevie wasn't late, she arrived at precisely 7 A.M, a whole hour before the Entrance Ceremony began. All she had to do was take a step inside.

Stevie's heart skipped a beat as she entered the school. It was... Massive! The halls were empty, maybe she was a bit too early.

"Now, where to g-" Stevie froze as a sudden wave of dizziness hit her.

She managed to catch herself on a large column in the practically empty room. If there was one thing Stevie hated, which there were many to pick from, one of her top ten things she hated was the feeling of passing out. She despised it.

As her body lowered to the ground, her eyesight became blurry and her eyes fluttered closed.

**********************************

When Stevie woke up she realised she was in an empty classroom, her jaw hurt from sleeping on the desk.

"Did... Did someone bring me here after I passed out?" Stevie wondered, rubbing her head.

"Ah, you're awake!"

Stevie's head jerked up and she looked around. Her eyes quickly landed on a boy who was stood in front of her.

He had dusty, brown hair with purple streaks and warm brown eyes. He was shorter than her and wearing a plain white t-shirt, grey jeans and a dull, green jacket with fur around the collar.

"Sorry about the suddenness, I found you passed out on the ground and thought this would be better." The boy apologized.

"Thank you then, uh..." Stevie looked around awkwardly.

"Oh! I forgot to introduce myself." He realised,"My name is Daiko Magorobi, I'm the Ultimate Comedian."

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Daiko." Stevie smiled,"I'm Stevie Hendrix, the Ultimate Caregiver."

"It's nice to meet you as well, Stevie." Daiko chuckled before he looked to the side,"Do you wanna go meet the others?"

"Others?" Stevie blinked.

"Oh, yes, there are fourteen other students that I'm aware of." Daiko told her,"Since you were still conked out, I volunteered to stay with you until you woke up."

"Well, where is everyone?" Stevie looked around, standing up.

"They all spread out around the school." Daiko sighed,"They wanted to explore since, like you, they all remember arriving and passing out."

"Well, let's get a move on then." Stevie turned, taking in her surroundings.

The classroom was pretty average but... All the windows were plated shut, the clock showed the time, 8:30, and there was a note on the desk.

"Hm?" Stevie picked up the note,"Please make your way to the Gym for the Entrance Ceremony at your earliest convenience?"

"Should we go find everyone first or...?"

"Yes, we should." Stevie nodded and walked towards the door, nearly bumping into a girl that walked in.

She had purple hair with dusty, brown streaks and deep, purple eyes. She was around Stevie's height and wearing a grey hoodie, ripped denim jeans, a black and white scarf, a pair of round glasses and a white, fox mask on her head. Stevie also noticed a burn scar on the girl's face but it was clearly quite an old injury.

"Ack- Apologies." Stevie quickly spoke.

"Hehe, don't worry about it." The girl laughed,"It's not that big a deal."

"But-"

"Shh." She covered Stevie's mouth,"I said that it's okay."

Stevie gave in, she still felt a bit bad for some almost unexplainable reason.

"I guess I should probably introduce myself, huh?" The girl looked around,"My name is Terishi Magorobi but you can just call me Teri, I'm the Ultimate Actress."

"Hang on, Magorobi?" Stevie turned to Daiko.

The boy chuckled,"My twin sister, we're the proclaimed 'Twins of Joy'."

"Aw, that's cute." Stevie smiled.

"Let's just go." Daiko pouted, the easily flustered type, it seemed.

"That's why I came to get you, so you could get to know some people." Terishi rolled her eyes.

"Oh, be quiet." Daiko nudged her as they left the classroom.

The siblings began to bicker amongst themselves as Stevie looked around, eventually wandering away from them and into another room.

This room appeared to be the front entrance, although the door was blocked off by a large, metal one. As Stevie took in the detail of the room, she was tackled by someone in front of her and she nearly toppled over.

"Ooh, a newcomer!" The girl cheered.

She had dark grey hair, the ends of which looked burnt and were void of pigment, one of her eyes was a vibrant green and the other was completely white. This girl was clearly shorter than her and wore a black, overall dress, a pale red bowtie, a singular white glove, heavy duty boots and had bandages on her legs and arms. There were many, MANY, burns all over this girl's body and even though they looked sort of old, Stevie didn't want to touch them in case she accidentally hurt her.

"Satoshi, let her go." A stern, male voice spoke.

Stevie looked him up and down as the small girl, Satoshi, let go of her. The boy had black hair, one yellow eye and one that was completely white like Satoshi's and tanned skin. He was very tall and wore a black suit, heeled boots, white gloves, a top hat, a golden cross earing and a monocle. He also had a scar over his white eyes.

"Forgive her, she can get... Excitable." The boy sighed, holding out his hand,"My name is Ray Luciano, I am the Ultimate Chef."

"Oh, uh, Stevie Hendrix. I am the Ultimate Caregiver." Stevie shook his hand.

"Caregiver, huh?" Ray raised a brow.

"I care for people, that's pretty much it." Stevie admitted.

"I like that!" The girl hugged her side,"I'm Akira, the Ultimate Arsonist!"

"I think being an arsonist is pretty cool too." Stevie patted her head.

"Not scared of a criminal, eh?" Ray asked,"Brave, yes, but stupid."

"I'm not stupid just... Trusting." Stevie crossed her arms,"If you're just gonna be rude, I'll leave."

Ray smirked,"Go on then, I dare you."

"Ray!" Akira pouted as Stevie turned and walked out.

"What an asshole.." She thought to herself as she began wandering the halls.

Eventually, Stevie came to a sort of centre area with benches and at least two other doors that she could count. Sat on the benches were three interesting looking students.

"Oh, hey!" Stevie waved,"Are you Hope's Peak students too?"

"Aye, lass." A boy nodded.

The boy has long, ginger hair pulled into a plait, one green eye and one blue eye and freckles on his face. He was quite tall and wore an untucked, white shirt, a blue hoodie around his waist, grey ripped jeans and trainers. He had a very noticeable Scottish accent, a hundred times stronger than her faint accent.

"Well, my name is Stevie Hendrix and I'm the Ultimate Caregiver. What about you three?" Stevie introduced herself.

"I'm Scott, Scott Callahan, the Ultimate Bagpipe Player." The ginger boy raised his hand.

"The name's Crystal Cobain, I'm the Ultimate Lead Singer." The girl in the middle nodded her head slightly.

Crystal had mid-length, brown hair that was dyed pink at the ends and pale, pink eyes. She wore rather heavy make-up around her eyes, mainly eyeliner and she wore a black, backwards cap, a dusty purple tank top, a black hoodie around her waist, grey ripped jeans, trainers and sunglasses.

"And I'm Scorpius Veleno, the Ultimate Digital Artist." The last girl spoke up.

Scorpius had a greyish tint to her brown skin and long, black hair that was pulled into a plait, covered one of her eyes, was dyed green at the front and her eyes were a dark, green colour. She was average height and wearing a green and grey hat, an unzipped, grey hoodie, a black t-shirt, ripped denim jeans, trainers and fishnet gloves.

"Those are all really cool names and talents." Stevie smiled.

"As I've told before." Scott smirked.

"Oh, hush." Crystal giggled, pushing him off the bench.

Scott squeaked as he fell to the floor.

"Oi!" He yelled.

"You'd best go find some other people, they could be at this for a while." Scorpius whispered to her, taking out her drawing tablet.

"That... Yeah, that seems like a plan." She sighed, looking at Scott and Crystal arguing.

Stevie rolled her eyes and walked through some larger doors to find a... Prize Room? There was a machine filled up with prizes and there were many interesting prizes lining the walls. That's when Stevie locked eyes with another girl who had turned around.

"Eep! O-oh, hi!" She waved nervously.

The girl had long, vibrant, purple hair with teal streaks and teal eyes. She was shorter than Stevie and wearing a black, oversized jumper, ripped denim jeans, black flats and a necklace with a paw print charm.

"Sorry if I scared you, my name's Stevie Hendrix. I'm the Ultimate Caregiver." Stevie held out her hand.

"Sancia Seijō, the Ultimate A-animal Trainer." She shook Stevie's hand, her sleeve covering her hands.

"Oh, what kind of animals do you train?" Stevie asked her.

"W-well, I usually just train pets that are a bit troublesome like cats and d-dogs but there have been some occasions where I was asked to help out with some more d-dangerous animals." Sancia explained.

"You should tell me all about it later." Stevie told her, turning to leave.

"A-alright, I will." Sancia nodded.

Stevie walked out and saw Crystal and Scott still bickering and Scorpius bopping her head gently as she drew. Stevie sighed and headed along the corridor to reach a blue door and a pink door. The pink door was locked so she entered the blue door.

Inside was a room filled with monitor screens and spinny chairs. Stevie noticed two people in there already, neither speaking to the other.

"Hello, uh-"

"Just a moment." The person at the back spoke, before walking over,"Ah, yes, my name is Jeffrey Sicilian, the Ultimate Chess player. They/Them pronouns, please."

Jeff had mid-length, black hair, amber eyes and scattered freckles. They were slightly taller than Stevie and wore a white shirt, purple tie, black jacket and trousers, heeled shoes, glasses, white gloves and an intricate purple and white hair clip.

"It is lovely to meet you, Jeff." Stevie smiled, extending out her hand.

Jeff smiled back at her, shaking her hand in return before they both turned to the other person in the room, sat on a chair.

"Yūrei Kitsune. Ultimate Medium. That's all." Yūrei spoke calmly.

Yūrei had short, curly, black hair with a white fringe, very light skin and their eyes didn't open. Yūrei was very short and wore a black blazer, black skirt, rolled up white socks, black flats and she seemed to have a small pair of teal, translucent wings.

"Oh, well-"

"Stevie Hendrix, Ultimate Caregiver. I already know."

Stevie paused momentarily, this was new.

"Uhm... Well, I hope you have a good rest of your day, if possible." Stevie nodded slowly and walked out of the room.

As she did, she almost fell over as Daiko jumped onto her.

"Christ- Daiko!" Stevie crossed her arms.

"Heh, sorry. I just got excited because I found you again." Daiko chuckled nervously.

"We found you again." Terishi corrected, walking over with hands on her hips.

"Same thing." Daiko rolled his eyes.

"Uh, can you guys be quieter? I'm trying to read along there." A blonde person walked over, pointing behind them.

They had long, messy blonde hair that flowed behind them and like Scott, they had one green eye and one blue eye. They were taller than Stevie, had prominent undereye bags and were wearing glasses, a large, pink and blue hoodie, black trousers, trainers and had a pair of headphones around their neck.

"The name's Jay, Jay Young. I'm the Ultimate Traditional Artist." Jay sighed, holding her sketchbook tightly.

"Oh, can we see some of your drawings?" Terishi asked.

"No!" Jay quickly shook her head,"I mean, uh-"

"Don't worry, it's not a problem. You don't have to share if you don't want to." Stevie told her,"Well, see you later."

"Y-yeah, see you." Jay nodded slowly as the trio past them.

They made their way to the cafeteria where they spotted a bunch of people, four to be exact. Inside the cafeteria was a large, long table in the middle and a few other tables scattered around. There was also access to a kitchen, most likely where all the food was stored.

"I do hope that you all are enjoying your tea." A male bowed before noticing the newcomers,"Ah, come in, come in."

He had long, black hair that was pulled into a plait and mysterious, grey eyes. He was definitely taller than Stevie and wearing a black suit, white shirt, black trousers, heeled boots, black top hat with a dark red ribbon, white gloves and a dark red ribbon instead of a tie.

"My name is Dimitri Suzuki. I am the Ultimate Butler, at your service." Dimitri bowed to them.

"E-eh? No need to bow!" Daiko spoke quickly, gripping Terishi's arm.

"Dai, chill out. It was nice to meet you, Dimitri. I'm Terishi, the Ultimate Actress. This idiot is my twin brother Daiko, the Ultimate Comedian and that's Stevie, she's the Ultimate Caregiver." Terishi explained simply.

"I'll introduce myself next." A blonde girl raised her hand,"My name is Kirari Doragon but you can just call me Kira! I'm the Ultimate Jeweler."

Kirari had mid-length, blonde hair and light, blue eyes. She was just below average height and wore gold-rimmed glasses, a little, golden crown, a golden necklace, golden bracelets, a dark red cardigan, a black oversized shirt, denim jeans, trainers and her nails were painted red.

"And I'm Ash Rosenberg, the Ultimate Florist. Also known as Kira's new bestie." A pink haired girl spoke up.

Ash had mid-length, rosey, pink hair, had deep, green eyes and a couple freckles. She had tanned skin, was average height and wore dungarees, a necklace with a red gemstone, a white hat with red flowers on it and trainers.

"I'm last, huh?" Another girl looked around,"Well, I'm Dawn Kamakiri and I'm the Ultimate Mantis Conservationist."

Dawn had short, navy, blue hair with a white streak at the front and light, grey eyes. She was just below average height and was wearing glasses, a grey hoodie, black skirt, rolled up socks and black flats.

"It is so good to meet you all, you've all got such interesting talents and-" Stevie was cut off by a strange voice over the intercom.

"Testing, one, two, three! Can you all hear me? If you can, can everyone make their way to the gym right away for the Entrance Ceremony."

The crowd in the kitchen looked around at each other before following Dimitri's lead and eventually ending up in the gym with everyone else. All of a sudden, a little, black and white stuffed goat jumped onto the speaker's podium.

"A... Stuffed goat? Cute!" Ash smiled.

"I am not a stuffed goat! I am Monoyagi, this school's Headmistress!" The goat put her hoofs on her hips.

"Right, nice joke." Ray rolled his eyes,"Now where's the real Headmaster?"

"No jokes here, Mr Luciano. I'm the real Headmistress." Monoyagi assured him,"Now, I suppose I should tell you why you're all here."

"Enlighten us." Jay scoffed.

"I've brought you all here to participate in a... Killing Game!" The evil goat announced.

"A... A what!?" Ash gasped.

"Y-you can't be serious." Dawn shook their head.

"Oh, but I can be serious and I am! You will all be stuck her for the rest of your school lives... And by that I mean forever." Monoyagi grinned.

"Forever?" Crystal blinked.

"That's right! There is, however, a way to graduate and escape from the confines of your new home." She told them.

"And what, pray tell, is that?" Dimitri raised a brow.

"Murder!"

The crowd fell silent. In order to escape they had to... Murder... Another classmate of theirs, the hall to kill a friend?

"It doesn't matter how you do it, whether it's bludgeoning, drowning, burning, poisoning, electrocution or whatever! As long as that person is dead, it counts! It's that simple!" Monoyagi laughed.

"P-please, just l-let us go!" Sancia begged,"I don't want this!"

"Ugh, come on! I'm letting you guys go kill each other with no intervention from law enforcement and this is how you react? Kids these days." Monoyagi scoffed.

"Exactly, we're kids! Why would you want us to have to do something like this!?" Stevie yelled at her.

"Watching hope like yours crumble into despair... It's exhilarating!" Monoyagi burst into maniacal laughter.

All of a sudden, Ray lunged forward and grabbed Monoyagi with one hand.

"Not so tough now, huh?" Ray questioned, dangling the bear above the ground.

"H-hey! We can talk about this, just put me down!" Monoyagi struggled.

"Like hell!" Ray rolled his eyes.

That's when a faint beeping noise was heard throughout the hall.

"H-huh? What's that?" Scorpius looked around.

The rest of the crowd looked confused until Akira ran forward.

"Ray! Throw it! Let it go!" She shoved him.

Instinctively, Ray released the goat and launched it into the air... Where it exploded! Everyone covered their ears, the explosion was deafening.

"At least she's gone... Right?" Jeff looked around.

"Nope!" Monoyagi popped back up,"I'll let you off with just a warning that time, Ray."

Ray growled and crossed his arms, clearly pissed. Monoyagi preceded to hand out tablets she called 'Student Handbooks' that contained their school rules and room keys then... She left.

What were they going to do? They were trapped with no means of escape. Monokyagi had threatened to blow them up with her clones if she caught them breaking the rules, breaking school property being one of them. They were hopeless...
