Chapter 7

I reached my hand out towards the head of the shark, and I started to pet it. It started to tilt its head towards my hand, closing its eyes somewhat. This shark sees to act like a dog, and I laughed to myself at that thought. I kept petting the shark and it kept leaning even more onto my hand.

Then, in an instant, Arthur put his hand on top of mine. The shark seemed even happier that both of our hands are on top of it, petting it with love. Against, in an instant, both of our hand intertwined with each other, pulling somewhat away from the shark. It was just Arthur and me at that moment, both of us in our own world. Nothing could ruin this moment in my eyes. Both of us started to lean even closer to each other, one more push and we would be kissing, when suddenly, my phone rings.

Both of us pull away from each other as fast as possible as if we were teenagers who were caught in an unforgivable act. Well, if one of us had leaned in, we would be kissing, but I won't worry about that yet.

"Autumn, we need you back at the base. You've run out of time," was the first thing Bruce Wayne said on the phone. With the tone of seriousness that he had, I knew that it was important.

"What happened?" I questioned.

"We finally have some answers. Now tell your boyfriend to go home and protect the box in Atlantis," finished Bruce. With that, the phone call was over, and it was time to go back home. Back to Kansas, and I will only come back to Gotham unless they need me again.

"So, I guess this is goodbye?" I spoke up. The shark was long gone, and it was just the both of us. I had a fear that I would never see Arthur again, that this was just a one-time thing. I didn't even know if life back in Smallville will keep me happy. But, it is my duty, it is was I have to do, and I will do this for Clark.

"Do not worry Autumn, I will always find you. We will see each other again, that is my promise to you," replied Arthur. He cupped my face with one of his hands, pulling my hair away from my face. I closed my eyes, and I felt Arthur place a kiss on my forehead. Then, with sounds of splashing, he was gone.

With that, I flew back to Smallville, back to my home.
