Chapter 13
Chapter 13
"What is this? Even I don't know what it is," I spoke up. I saw that Cyborg had brought in one of the boxes that Steppenwolf was after.
"My father called it the change engine. It was found by the British during World War One," replied Cyborg. He looked down in sadness as he thought of his father.
"They studied it, but they couldn't even date it. It's so old," he continued.
"That's why almost no one knows about it," I spoke up. No one paid mind to what I said. Arthur had already gone to look around, leaving me to listen to what Cyborg was saying.
"It was shelved till the night that Superman died," finished Cyborg. That brought me down to memory lane. So when I saw my best friend, my brother, dying. That I could not do anything to save him, no matter my efforts. It wasn't until Arthur spoke did I get out of the haunting memories.
"What's on your weird mind?" replied Arthur. I had no clue as to what anyone was saying. So, I decided to ask what was going on,
"What are you saying, Bruce?" I spoke up. Bruce looked at me, and he looked hesitant to speak. Then, he gained all the confidence in the world, and decided to reply to both of our previous statements,
"Muscles. Coordination. Basic cellular integrity. A human being can only absorb so much," Bruce spoke as he was walking around. I didn't know where he was going with this, but I did not like it, not one bit.
"The Mother Box was designed to reshape a planet," Bruce finishes. I glance over to Diana and I think that she and I are on the same page if this was the idea that we think it is.
"So?" replied Arthur. He sounded as if he did not care about what Bruce was saying. As he was scoffing, he looked towards me, and he rushed over to me. Holding me in his arms, making me feel better than before.
"So...what if you were stronger than a planet?" finishes Bruce. My blood runs cold, I knew it, this could not be true.
"Your cells lying dormant, but incapable of decay. If you were in a conductive field... A boost from the Mother Box..." Bruce explains. He was cut off by another voice.
"...could bring "him" back to life," Barry finishes. Diana and I glance at each other, I could feel Arthur looking towards me. I could also feel Bruce staring at both of us. There was no way that I was going to approve of this happening.
"The Kryptonian ship has an amniotic chamber, which would be perfect..," spoke Bruce. He sounded excited that he was bringing Clark back to life.
"I know what the ship has Bruce. My answer for this will always be a no," I spoke up. I knew exactly what Bruce wanted to do and I was not going to take that risk.
"Autumn!" Bruce shouted at me. I looked towards Diana for help, and she knew that her words might make a bigger impact than mine would.
"Bruce, no!"Diana shouted back. That was when Bruce stopped.
"Why are you wanting to bring him back Bruce?! You are dealing with science and powers that are impossible to comprehend. We do not need a monster that looks like Superman roaming around the earth!" I shouted back at him.
"But it's necessary," replied Bruce.
"Why? Because of your guilt?" I told him. That made him stop in his tracks, knowing that I hit his answer dead on.
"Bruce, I was there. You didn't kill Superman. At some point, even you have to learn to move on," Diana finished. Bruce looked like he wanted to say something but he held his tongue. I spoke up again,
"And what am I going to do during this?" I questioned. Once again, Bruce looked guilty of doing something.
"Absolutely nothing, you will be our big gun. You are the only person that Clark will listen to if things do go south," replied Bruce. I scoffed at what he said, he looked serious enough and I had had enough of this nonsense. I knew that they needed to control him first, I needed to save my energy. I didn't even know what the kryptonite did to me. I don't even know if it is completely out of my system.
With a small nod of my head, I decided to agree with his terms. Followed by Diana's look of shock, I walked to Alfred, waiting to see if I was needed.
