Chapter 9 - Another Trial
"I hate this part." Tsuki sighed as they walked.
"Well, we have to do this, for Chihiro's sake." Akira patted her shoulder.
Tsuki nodded before they both entered the elevator. She was watching everyone, suspecting them all. Monokuma had dragged Toko, kicking and screaming into the elevator before it began descending.
"Where were you, hm?" Tsuki crossed her arms.
"My room." Toko crossed her arms.
"Suspicious.." Tsuki nodded slowly.
"You hid in y-your room after the incident too, you h-hypocrite." Toko muttered.
"Not important." Tsuki pointed.
"It-think it is important." Toko pointed back.
"Chihiro was my friend. Was she yours? No! So don't go pointing at me, Miss." Tsuki glared at her.
"Okay, let's calm down." Akira turned to Tsuki.
"I don't like her."
"Nobody does." Akira whispered to her.
"Well I don't like her more." Tsuki nodded.
"Debatable, but I can't judge it." Akira shrugged.
That's when the doors opened and everyone walked out, seeing the newly decorated room.
"Decided to change it up?" Akira raised a brow.
"Do you like it?" Monokuma clapped.
"Don't waste our time with stupid questions." Byakuya scoffed,"Let's get this iver with."
"Good good! You're rip raring to go! Gotta say I don't hate it, not at all." Monokuma pointed,"Okay then, let's get this show on the road, everyone please find your assigned seats!"
The students obliged, sighing as they reached their podium.
Monokuma went off about the rules and what would happen, until,"Let's talk about the murder weapon!"
"Well, Chihiro's fatal injury appears to be a head wound." Sakura began.
"According to the Monokuma File, the killer used a blunt instrument but... What kind of blunt object would it have been?" Taka asked.
"I bet it was an iron pipe!" Hiro stated confidently.
"An iron pipe? Can we all agree it was the dumbbell? It was found at the scene of the crime. It was covered in blood and nothing else at the scene could have caused that type of injury." Tsuki pointed.
"And the wound on the victim's head is consistent with the shape of the dumbbell." Kyoko added,"As far as I'm concerned, there's no mistake and no room for doubt on this one."
"You...Looked at her head wound?" Hina blinked.
"Kyaah!" Hifumi screamed, That's so creepy!"
"If you don't mind, I will proceed from here. Let's move onto the discussion of the culprit. Although believe the criminal behind this heinous act is already clear." Byukuya shrugged.
"I h-have a suspect too." Toko raised her hand.
"You do?" Kyoko raised a brow.
"Who better than t-the one Chihiro trusted most? T-tsuki." Toko pointed.
"You think I would kill my friend?" Tsuki quickly turned to her.
"To k-keep your secret hidden."
"She was my friend." Tsuki pointed,"I trusted her with my secret."
"L-likely story."
"Tsuki isn't that type of person." Akira shook her head.
"See?" Tsuki nodded.
"Can we really t-trust the words of a criminal?" Toko looked around.
"Hey, don't talk about my best friend like that! Taka pointed.
"And mine!" Tsuki pointed as well,"It doesn't matter if she's a criminal."
"Exactly, we proved she was trustworthy last trial." Kyoko added.
"She was trusted in the first place. Just because you killed Chihiro, doesn't mean you need to blame it on Akira." Tsuki crossed her arms.
"I d-didn't kill anyone!" Toko snapped.
"Excuses, Excuses... Anyway, continue Byukuya." Tsuki turned to him.
"Chihiro's killer is... The fiendish serial killer, Genocide Jack." Byakuya stated.
"I'm sure of it. Case closed far as I'm concerned." Byukuya shrugged.
"But... That's impossible!" Hina shook her head.
"Why? What makes it impossible?" Byukuya asked.
"Well... I mean, come on! There's just no proof for it." Hina sighed.
"Actually Hina, might know one reason he could be involved." Akira spoke up.
"What?" Hina turned to her.
"I found this file while I was looking around the archive in the library." She explained,"I guess it's some kind of confidential file the police put together on the Genocide Jack case."
"What? That's kinda weird as shit, isn't it? What something like that doing in the library?" Mondo scoffed.
"The why of it is probably more trouble than it's worth so let's forget about that for now! More importantly, it outlines all the specifics of every Genocide Jack case it exceeding detail." Byakuya continued,"According to the file, there appears to be two defining characteristics in every Genocide Jack case. The first is the bloody message that is found in every scene of the murder."
"Oh, that's right! 'Booblust'!" Hifumi remembered.
"Actually... It's bloodlust." Tsuki corrected him.
"But more important is the other characteristics, something that has never been made public." Byakuya shook his head.
"Never made public? What the hell is it?" Mondo asked.
"Why don't you tell them, Akira?" Byukuya turned to her.
"Apparently, in every Genocide Jack case, the killer suspends the body in a certain way. Other than the killer, the only people who know about this are the higher-ups in the police department." Akira informed them.
"However, Chihiro was suspended in the same way. So, how did the culprit know about this when only high level police officials were made aware of it? There's only one logical answer I can think of. It's because the culprit in this case... Is the real Genecide Jack." Byakuya shrugged.
"No fuckin' way!" Mondo gasped.
"You're saying Genocide Jack is... One of us?" Celeste wondered.
"Yes, in fact, it's Toko." Byakuya pointed.
"Knew it!" Tsuki jumped.
"Wh-"
"Genocide Jack's true identity..is Toko Fukawa." Byukuya confirmed.
"You lie!" Hifumi pointed.
"Wh-wh-what!?" Toko stammered.
"Hey- Wait. Okay, hold on a sec! Toko has like, bloodophobia or whatever, remember? What kind of serial killer is afraid of blood?!" Hina shook her head.
"Is Toko Genocide Jack? The answer is yes... And no." Byakuya told them.
"Another riddle? Man, whys this gotta be so complicated?" Hiro groaned.
"Well, is it because Genocide Jack... Has a split personality?" Akira asked.
"Huh?" Hina blinked.
"I think read that somewhere in the file, too." Akira admitted,"They thought the suspect might have... What did they call it? Dissociative Identity Disorder?"
"O-okay... But still, to go and say that about Miss Fukawa-" Hifumi began.
"Is perfectly reasonable." Byakuya cut in,"Toko's strange behaviour after seeing the body is proof enough she has a split personality."
"You mean how she started acting totally different than usual, right?" Akira asked.
"That's right. Think back- She fainted when she saw Chihiro's corpse and then when she woke up..." Byukuya went over how she reacted.
"She was acting funny, that's for sure! That melancholy tone of her's completely disappeared." Taka agreed.
"Don't go assigning adjectives to my t-tone without permission." Toko pointed.
"Not to mention, once she regained consciousness and saw Chihiro's body, she was entirely calm." Byakuya added,"In other words, within her is one personality who can't handle blood and one who obviously can."
"No-" Toko shook her head.
"So when Toko trapped herself in her room, it's because she was scared of Genocide Jack?" Hina concluded.
"The reason she locked herself in her room wasn't to keep other people from getting in... It was to keep her other personality from coming out." Byakuya told them.
"What?" Hina blinked.
"Toko was afraid- Afraid of the murderous fiend inside of her, of killing even more people." Byukuya nodded.
"H-h-how!?" Toko stammered.
"Yeah, how can you know about this?!" Hina turned to him.
"I believe you misunderstood her." Byakuya stated, "What she's trying to say isn't 'How can you know all this?". No. What she wants to know is 'How could you tell them?"
"Huh?" Hina blinked.
"Last night, before Monokuma gave his 'motive speech', Toko and had a strange conversation. She said she had a murderous fiend lived within her and she was afraid it could appear and attack at any time." Byakuya explained,"And that trepidation is what's caused her to have such a bleak attitude. Isn't that right, Toko?"
"Urg... Gaah!" Toko held her head.
"This is all a lie... Right, Toko?" Hina asked.
"Y-you said you wouldn't tell a-anyone!" Toko shook her head.
"What!?" Hina blinked.
"Y-you promised! I-I can't believe you l-lied!" Toko shouted.
"You have only yourself to blame. You came to me with your tragic, little story. I didn't ask you to." Byakuya shook his head," This is the real world, not some romantic, fantasy fairytale."
"Gyah!"
"Besides, you broke your promise first. You said that as long as you were here, no matter what, you wouldn't let Genocide Jack kill anyone... Yet despite that..."
"You said i-if kept my promise... You'd go out w-with me!" Toko pointed,"That's the only reason promised!"
"How many times do have to tell you? I never said that." Byakuya leaned against his podium,"But you weren't able to do it - You just couldn't resist that rush you got from killing, could you?"
"I tried! I-I tried to control it! B-but-"
"But your efforts were useless. What a disappointment." Byakuya scoffed.
"Nghh... I hate you..." Toko muttered.
"Well, the opening act us nearly finished. All that's left is to hear from the person in question directly." Byakuya shrugged.
"The person? Y-you don't m-mean- Toko's body suddenly lunged backwards ward.
When she got back up... Well...
"Gyahaha! Well hello there! Is it me you were hoping to see?!" Genocide Jack laughed.
"Gah! Eugh, what the heck!?" Hifumi jumped.
"So you figured it out, huh? Well, whatever! What're ya gonna do?! I'm the Ultimate Murderous Fiend, Genocide Jack- Or better yet, let's go with Jill!" Genocide Jill laughed.
"What the fuck is this!?" Mondo yelled.
"Toko... What happened to you?" Taka blinked.
"Not Toko, that's a loser name! And what happened is a textbook split personality!" Genocide Jill smirked,"So what if one of them happens to be a serial killer? You should turn a blind eye to one's faults!"
"She's so... Intense!" Hiro shook his head.
"Like they say, sound in murderous fiend, sound in murderous body!"
"This one is so different than the one we've come to know." Sakura sighed.
"Yes, well, the world is composed of a front and a back, you know. Just like how every inning has a top and a bottom, or how in the depths of every truth lives a little lie..." Genocide Jill crossed her arms,"Behind every dark and gloomy soul lives another that shines as bright as the sun! Kyahahaha!"
"Um- Miss Jack?- Jill! Can I ask a question?" Hifumi asked.
"What's up?" She asked innocently.
"Some of us think you might be the mastermind behind our entire situation. What are your thoughts on that?"
"Well, I'll tell you this. I'm the Mastermind of all Masterminds!" Genocide Jill announced before chuckling,"Just kidding!"
"Then... It's not true?" Tsuki asked.
"Of course it's not true! How dare you try and associate me with that creepazoid!" Monokuma pointed,"And another thing! The police and government and society ij the outside world are totally powerless! I mean, they just let this idiotic, bloodthirsty maniac go buck wild all over town!"
"Sure, I'm a bloodthirsty maniac. But life is a pain, right? To live is to hurt other people. It's a necessary evil if you want to survive. The act of living itself causes pain for everyone... Just kidding again! Kyehaha!" Genocide Jill laughed.
This should be enough to convince you. This murderous fiend is responsible for Chihiro's death." Byakuya shrugged,"There's clearly a motive so there should be no doubt."
"A motive?" Sakura raised a brow.
"Remember what Monokuma told us? If someone didn't murder and graduate within 24 hours, an embarrassing memory or secret would be revealed." Byakuya reminded them,"Well, let's assume that Toko's secret was about Genocide Jack. If a secret like that came to light, Toko's life would have undoubtedly been forever ruined. So she had a very clear motive to never have that side of her exposed."
"Interesting.. Very very very interesting! But sorry! As much as I hate to admit it, I'm not the culprit!" Genocide Jill sighed.
"Huh?" Taka raised a brow.
"But... I cannot imagine anyone other than you that would kill someone in such a bizzare fashion." Celeste crossed her arms.
"Maybe so, maybe so! But nevertheless it's the truth." Genocide Jill told her.
"Do you really expect any of us to believe you?" Sakura rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, I could never believe a word you say, you monster!" Hina pointed.
Akira looked a bit hesitant though, this wasn't sitting right with her.
"Sorry! But I didn't kill anyone." Jill shrugged.
"You say that, but do you really expect any of us to believe it?" Sakura asked.
"Perhaps if you had an alibi that would change things." Celeste nodded.
"Oh, an alibi, huh? Now we're talking!" Genocide Jill looked intrigued.
"When you compare your past murders to this incident... The modus operandi matches completely. Byukuya pointed.
"Are the methods of murder really exactly the same? I'm not so sure about that." Akira shook her head,"I think there's a slight difference between the Genocide Jack cases and this one."
"Huh? How's it any different?" Hiro blinked.
"Uh oh, you don't know? Well then, human garbage, let me tell you! I murder with passion and conviction! I consider myself a professional and I have a very particular way of doing things." Genocide Jill pointed,"If you go to an Italian restaurant they are very particular about everything! It'd be like it that same restaurant started using Chef Boyardee! This is no creation of mine!"
"Let me rephrase that, in a way that makes more sense. There are two clear differences between the Genocide Jack case and this one, it seems." Tsuki looked at Akira.
"For one, the cause of death is different. In all the Genocide Jack murders, all the victims were killed the same way." Akira explained,"According to the case file, they were all apparently killed with... A pair of scissors. But Chihiro died with a blow to the head, right?"
"Ah, yes! That is remarkably different from the other murders." Hifumi nodded.
"Wouldn't it be strange for someone who kills the same way without fail to suddenly change their method?" Akira raised a brow,"And there's one more, on more conflicting detail."
"That's right! In my recipe of murder, if the bloody message is tortellini... Then the arrangement of the body would be the pesto sauce!" Jill smirked.
"Could you please stop comparing killing people to cooking?" Hiro asked her.
"S-so are you saying the other difference has to do with how the body was arranged?" Taka turned to her.
"Do you remember what the killer used to suspend her? They used some kind of rope to hang her up by her wrists." Akira began.
"What is your point?" Celeste shook her head.
"Well, in all the previous Gen ocide Jack cases, something else was used to suspend them." Akira stated,"Specifically, pairs of razor sharp scissors."
"And guess what? I used my own specially designed scissors for the murders AND the arrangement. Like the said, I'm a professional. So naturally I'm very picky about the tools use! And! Andandandandand ya know what else?! Big Mac said there was two differences, but she's wrong!" Jill laughed.
"Big Mac... Are you referring to me?" Akira blinked, that was a confusing nickname.
"Listen up, Big Mac! There's actually one more difference!"
"Huh?" She blinked.
"My word! You really didn't notice? Take a look at who the victims were in each Genocide Jack case. There's a pattern there just waiting to be discovered!" Jill pointed.
"A... Pattern?" Sakura raised a brow.
"Figure that out, and it'll be plain as death why I couldn't have possibly killed that little loli girl!" Jill rolled her eyes.
"Is it because... Chihiro was a girl?" Akira asked her.
"Bingo! Bullseye! Right on the money!" Jill laughed.
"In all the Genocide Jack cases, all the victims had something in common. They were all men." Akira stated.
"They were all guys?" Hiro tilted his head.
"That's right! The people! kill with such passion and conviction... Are all adorable little men!" Genocide Jill then covered her face,"Kyaah!! can't believe said it, I'm so embarrassed!"
"The hell is wrong with you?!" Mondo pointed.
"I can't help it. I'm just a full-throttle boy-on-boy fangirl and the mopey side of me just hates it!" Genocide Jill gushed,"But now I'm on the fast track to becoming a full-fledges fanmadam!"
"So since Chihiro was a girl and not an adorable little man... You wouldn't kill her?" Taka raised a brow.
"Would an Italian chef suddenly start making ramen just because they're both noodles? Don't be stupid." Genocide Jill rolled her eyes,"I have too much passion and conviction to cross that line! That's the absolute reality of the one and only!"
"We get it. You've clearly explained your hobby and your philosophy. But that's not all that there is to it. It's a different matter entirely... When you're forced to kill in order to survive." Byukuya spoke.
"Quiet, lowly cur!" Genocide Jill pointed.
"Lowly... Cur?" Byukuya asked, confused.
"I would never kill for a reason as petty as survival! And! If by some fluke, I did kill to survive... Why would I bother with the message and arrangement? It would make me the obvious suspect!"
"That... Does make some amount of sense." Celeste agreed.
"Plus! Whatever reason have for killing, I would never leave out my prized scissors!" Genocide Jill added,"Who would go out of their way to use a big, stupid, heavy dumbbell?!"
"Maybe you used the dumbbell cuz you could'nt find any scissors in the school?" Hifumi suggested.
"Any scissors? I don't just use any scissors! only use my own set of high-class, envy if the entire world scissors!" Jenocide Jill snapped.
"Okay? Whatever, there still isn't any in the school." Tsuki rolled her eyes.
"Are you so sure about that?" Genocide Jill smirked before pulling out two pairs of scissors, Tada!"
"Gah! She's fully equipped!" Hifumi gasped.
"That's right! So I can kill anywhere, anytime! Why would I resort to dumbbells and rope when have my trusty scissors by my side?" Genocide Jill pointed at Tsuki,"Go ahead, tell me I'm wrong. You can't, can you? Gutter dogs, all of you! Not to mention, I have no clue how to tie a good knot. So ropes totally out of the question anyway!"
"I have no idea what's going on anymore! Could such a hein ous villain really be innocent?!" Taka shook his head.
"But... The body really was suspended, right? And nobody but the police knew about it..." Mondo looked around.
"Yeah! That's why we figured it had to be the real deal and not zome copycat killer or whatever!" Hina agreed.
"Hold on! Byakuya... It's possible you could have found out, isn't it?" Akira raised a brow,"You'd have no problem gaining access to classified government documents or internal police records. Plus, you'd already looked through the Genocide Jack case file before this app happened, hadn't you?"
Byukuya said nothing in return.
"Are you saying... Mr Togami did it?!" Hifumi covered his mouth in shock.
Byakuya remained silent.
"Then the reason he pushed the theory of Genocide Jack being the killer was because he wanted to pin it on her." Celeste nodded slowly.
"So he rearranged the scene to disguise it and make it look like I'd put my stamp on it. The adorable glasses man was behind it all? Ahh! I'm on fire!" Jill fanned herself.
"Well, Byakuya? What's your response!?" Taka turned to him.
"I see... So now the suspicion falls onto me. Then must ask, when would you say I began acting suspicious? Surely you must have an answer." Byukuya hummed.
"Looking back on it now, the way you were acting before we discovered the body was a little strange." Akira recalled, "You dragged me away to look at nothing and then wanted to go check the girls locker room right away, right? But since you're a guy..."
"I should have naturally thought of the boys locker room first. Is that what you wanna say? The victim was Chihiro, a girl. Hence why said we should check the girls locker room first." Byukuya explained himself.
"Nothing strange about that, I'd say." Hifumi shrugged.
"On the contrary, there's something very strange. Akira pointed.
"Okay then, what's so strange about it?" Byukuya questioned,"Go ahead, share with the class."
"So you said Byukuya was acting kinda weird before the body was found? But he was acting. weird... How?" Hina asked Akira.
"If you're presented with the opportunity to check out the girls locker room, you absolutely take it! That's a natural reaction from any guy!" Hifumi spoke up.
"The victim was Chihiro, who was a girl." Byukuya explained.
"I'll tell you what's so strange about that... Because up until we actually discovered the body, we couldn't have known who the victim was!" Akira crossed her arms,"So your claim that you went to the girl's locker room first because Chihiro was the victim doesn't hold up."
"I see... That's a good answer, I must admit. Interesting... Very interesting indeed! But your reasoning is still too weak!"
"Huh?" Akira blinked.
"What's wrong? Is that it? Surely you've got more than that. Go ahead, show us. What's the matter? You're not finished already, are you? There must be more to it." Byukuya continued to taunt her.
"There is... I think." Akira but her lip.
"There is more to it. Think about it. We just talked about the differences between this case and the Genocide Jack incidents. The proof you're looking for is hidden there." Kyoko finally spoke.
"Oh? Proof that I'm the culprit, you mean?" Byakuya raised a brow.
"What, the difference between the cases? You want me to explain it again?! When I want to kill use my vefy own special scissors. And I use those same scissors to arrange the body!" Jill pointed.
"But Chihiro was suspended with... It was some kind of rope, was it not?" Celeste asked.
"That's right! It absolutely was." Taka nodded.
"Then there must be something very fishy indeed about that rope!" Hifumi concluded.
"Hey, Byakuya! Where'd you get it from, huh?" Mondo turned to him.
"I'd never seen that rope before in my life." Byukuya shrugged.
"Actually, I'm pretty sure you have seen it before because, you see, that rope - Or should I say... That extension cord." Akira pointed.
"What?! An extension cord?" Hifumi gasped.
"Byakuya, you've used the extension cord in the library more than once, haven't you?" Akira raised a brow," And the same extension cord that was in the library all this time... Went missing after the murder! And there's no way someone who uses that extension cord as much as you do wouldn't discover that fact!"
"Then Byakuya must be the one who took the extension cord! I can't imagine any other possibility!" Taka announced.
"That's what you think? Then your conclusion is this... I killed Chihiro, then hung her up in the girl's locker room and wrote that bloody message. I intentionally made it look like Genocide Jack did it. Is that right?" Byakuya glared at them.
Akira was quiet, that's what she thought but Byakuya's attitude was making it hard to believe.
"What's wrong? I asked if you believe that's what happened." Byakuya tilted his head.
"Hell yes that's what happened! So that's it, right? Byakuya's the killer?" Mondo pointed.
"I don't disagree with not disagreeing!" Jill hummed.
"He kept calling this a game, right? So he'd be totally willing to do something like this to win." Taka pointed.
"Um... Sorry, but could we hold on a second? I think we need to talk about this more." Tsuki raised her hand.
"Huh? Do we really need to? We've already decided who did it." Hiro shrugged.
"I know, but still... There's something that's bothering me." Tsuki sighed.
"Is that right? Then what, pray tell, us still bothering you?" Byakuya crossed his arms,"I killed her in the girls locker room, then disguised my crime. Specifically, dressed up to make it look like it was the work of a homicidal psychopath. What about all that bothers you?"
Tsuki tilted her head,"You said you killed her in the girls locker room, right? But are you sure? Isn't it possible she was killed somewhere else?"
"How disappointing... What kind of question is that? Even in a world of disappointments, this is a true letdown." Byakuya scoffed,"She was found dead in the girls locker room. There is absolutely no question about that. How could the scene of the crime been anywhere else?"
"Well, I believe it's entirely possible that she was killed somewhere else and then carried there later." Akira spoke up,"Along with the test of the murder scene!"
"The rest of the murder scene? That was awfully specific... Please tell me you have a reason for that." Byakuya hesitated at a point.
"I believe I do." Akira stated, did she just... Take Byakuya off guard?
"Hey! Don't move on just yet. What do you mean she was killed somewhere else?" Taka leaned towards his friend.
"If there's any chance the murder took place somewhere else, let's see the proof!" Byakuya pointed.
"The proof she was killed somewhere else... Is the poster hanging in each locker room." Tsuki nodded.
"Your evidence is.... Just some posters?" Byakuya raised a brow.
"The poster in the girls locker room was a picture of a big-boobed supermodel. Don't you think that's kind of strange?" Akira asked,"Why would the girls locker room have a poster like that?"
"I bet those massive jugs of hers were fake! Kyhaha!" Jill laughed.
"Meanwhile, the boys locker room had a poster of the super popular boy band 'Tornado'. Again, that doesn't really seem to being in a boys locker room." Akira told them.
"So you're saying that maybe the posters were switched?" Celeste raised a brow.
"And there's one other thing I noticed about the locker rooms. You know what I'm talking about, right Sakura?" Akira turned to her.
"You're referring to my protein coffee, aren't you?" Sakura hummed.
"Protein coffee?" Hifumi raised a brow.
"While I was in the girls locker room, had spilled some of it on the carpet. But noticed after the murder, the stain had totally scrubbed away." Sakura explained.
"The stain on the girl's locker room carpet wasn't scrubbed away. In fact, found it on the boys locker room carpet." Akira informed her.
"That's... Definitely the stain from my protein coffee!" Sakura pointed at the photo.
"Then... Does that mean that the carpets were switched to? But... Why would anyone do that?" Celeste raised a brow.
"To move the murder scene from one locker room to the other. It's certainly plausible, don't you think?" Tsuki shrugged.
"I can certainly follow your reasoning, but... Why would the culprit bother doing that?" Celeste raised a brow.
"Huh?" Tsuki blinked.
"Why would they got through all that trouble of switching the scene of the crime? Actually, an even bigger question, if the murder did take place in the boys locker room... Then how did Chihiro get in the boys locker room in the first place?" Celeste questioned.
"Well-"
"To get into the locker rooms, you have to swipe your e-Handbook across the card reader device. But Chihiro's handbook should have only allowed her access to the girls locker room." Celeste explained, "She had no way to get into the boys locker room to begin with."
"No! She did have a way, and I can tell you what it was." Hiro jumped.
"I highly doubt that." Celeste rolled her eyes.
"Shut up! I'm telling you I know how she could've done it." Hiro pointed at her.
"Is it really possible? Could Chihiro really have gotten into the boys locker room somehow?" Celeste asked.
"Ah! I got it! She must have hacked her e-Handbook. She was the Ultimate Programmer after all. I'm sure it would have been no problem for her!" Taka announced.
"No, I don't think that's it." Hiro shook his head,"She used the thing that was in the main hall."
"Huh? What thing?" Hifumi asked.
"I'm talking about Leon's handbook of course-" Hiro began.
"No, I don't think Chihiro used Leon's handbook." Akira cut him off.
"Why not?" Hiro was taken aback.
"Because Leon's handbook was broken." Akira stated.
"Oh, well then, yeah. I guess that would be pretty impossible." Hiro agreed.
"I am struck silent by how quickly you gave up." Sakura sighed.
"Plus, isn't there a regulation against using someone else's handbook?" Celeste raised a brow.
"Actually, the rule states that loaning your handbook is prohibited. It says nothing about loaning one. In other words, you could borrow a dead person's all you want and you'd be safe." Byakuya explained.
"Yup yup yup! Hit the nail square on the noggin"!" Monokuma grinned.
"Of course, if it were broken that wouldn't make sense anyway." He shrugged.
"So then, she must've hacked hers like said!" Taka spoke up,"She used her Ultimate Programmer skills and-"
"Bzzt! You can't fix an e hand book. The instant you open one up a security buzzer starts blaring!" Monokuma corrected.
"So if she didn't use Leon's handbook and she didn't modify her own handbook..." Sakura looked around.
"Maybe Miss Satoshi's initial assumption is... Wrong?" Hifumi raised a brow.
"It seems like there's no way she coulda got into the boys locker room, so I guess so." Hina reluctantly agreed.
"Okay then, I vote for Byakuya!" Taka raised his hand.
"Hold on a second." Kyoko spoke up,"I agree with you though, I think you're on the right track."
"What the- You finally decide to open your mouth and that's, what you've got to say? There's no way she could get in the boys locker room! So-" Mondo began.
"Why are you so sure she couldn't get in? There's still one other way she could've gained access." Kyoko crossed her arms.
"What?" Mondo raised a brow.
"What are you talking about? What other way is there?" Taka questioned.
"Well... To explain that, why don't we take a little break from the trial? I'd like you all to see something. Kyoko sighed.
"Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait! Just what do you think you're doing?" Monokuma questioned.
"Don't worry, this will make the whole trial more exciting. I'm sure this thought must please you?"
"Huh? It'll make things more exciting?" Monokuma gasped, "Well, alright then!! declare an official class trial recess!"
"Huh? For real?" Hina gasped.
"Now then, what is it you wanna show us? It better not be boring or I'll be VERY unhappy!" Monokuma told her.
"Oh, have no doubt it'll meet your lofty expectations, shall we go?" Kyoko gestured for them to go.
And before they knew it, with Kyoko leading the way... They arrived back at the crime scene.
