Chapter 1 - Killing Game

"Tsu, hurry up!" Akira called to her friend.

"Yeah, coming!" Tsuki quickly rushed after Akira, putting her bag over her back.

"We're gonna be late on our first day." She pointed.

"Oh, I'm sure they can wait." Tsuki waved her hand.

Akira sighed as they started on their way to Hope's Peak Academy.

"So there's others like us?... Ultimates?" Tsuki raised a brow.

"Of course!" She smiled,"All different talents and stuff."

"And... They'll be nice?"

"Maybe." Akira shrugged.

"They better." Tsuki crossed her arms.

"Yeah, or we'll teach them."

"That's right." Tsuki hummed as they reached the entrance to the school.

"It's so... Big." Akira gasped.

"How are we meant to know where classes are in, that?" Tsuki pointed.

"They'll probably give us a timetable or something." Akira approached the gate.

"Hopefully." Tsuki tried the gate as it was locked.

Akira rolled her eyes and after an amount of wiggling, the gate fell down... She had been here for five minutes and already broken something.

"Already?" Tsuki sighed.

"Bad habits die hard." Akira shrugged, walking straight through.

Tsuki hummed and followed her friend through, looking around the front of the school. The outside was massive but it seemed almost bigger on the inside. Maybe that was because... There were no other students, it was completely empty.

"Are we early? You're telling me you were rushing me and we're early?" Tsuki crossed her arms.

"Can't be that early." Akira went to check her non-existant watch.

"No watch." Tsuki reminded her.

"You check then." She huffed.

"Yeah... My dad never got me a watch." Tsuki kicked some rubble on the floor.

"Can't get mad at me t-" Akira paused, grasping at the wall.

"What?" Tsuki spun on her heel.

"Nothing, just lightheaded, is all." Akira shook her head.

"Maybe it was something you ate." Tsuki began to look around before she herself began to get lightheaded.

"Hana, I don't like this."

"Me neither." Tsuki held her head, "Let's get some... Some air."

She began to make her way to the door, almost stumbling. Akira tried, failing to get anywhere near the door before she fell to the ground.

"Aki-" Tsuki attempted to get to her friend but soon enough followed her into falling, becoming unconscious.

God knows how much time had passed before they began to stir, finding themselves in a... Classroom?

"No, turn... The light off." Tsuki mumbled, putting her head in her arms.

"Uh, Tsu?" Akira nudged her.

"Mh?" Tsuki hummed tiredly.

"Where are we?" She looked around.

"My room, obvi-" Tsuki lifted her head, "This... Isn't my room."

"Since when we're we in class?" Akira stood up slowly.

"I... We were in the main hall, right?"

"Pretty sure."

"Did someone put us here?' Tsuki looked around.

"Maybe they saw us and carried us here?" Akira suggested.

"Maybe... Where are the others?" Tsuki asked.

"Not a clue." Akira began to look around.

"Oh! There's a note." Tsuki lifted up a piece of paper.

"Oh, read it."

Tsuki turned the page and read it, "Yeah... We're to go and meet in the gym."

"Does it have a map?" Akira questioned.

"Nope." Tsuki closed the page, "Onwards and outwards I say."

"Fine." Akira rushed out of the room.

"Okay... Oh! I found a map." Tsuki pointed to the wall.

Akira skidded to a halt and turned,"You did?"

"Yeah, in my pocket." Tsuki pulled it out of the jacket she had on.

"How'd you miss that?" Akira skipped over to her.

"I don't know I never lifted one." Tsuki admitted.

"Well, lemme see." Akira peered over her shoulder.

"Here." Tsuki handed it to her.

Akira scanned over the paper before throwing it back at Tsuki and running.

Tsuki blinked and looked at the map, "Akira- Wait for me!"

"Run faster!"

"Why are we running?" Tsuki whined.

"To get there faster." Akira pointed.

"I'm slow though." Tsuki chased after her.

"That sounds like a you problem." Akira stopped herself by grabbing onto a door handle.

"Okay, I'm here." Tsuki let out a sigh.

"Let's go." Akira pulled it open.

Tsuki crossed her arms as they walked into the gym... Seeing more than a dozen people.

"Woah, hey! Two more new kids?" A man with big hair pointed.

Tsuki immediately latched onto her friend once she heard the man talk.

"So, that means you guys are.." Akira trailed off, looking around.

"Yeah, we're the new students too." A girl with a red jacket nodded.

"T-today's supposed to be our first day." A short girl added.

"And who are you two meant to be?" A rather tall boy spoke.

"Well, my name is Akira Satoshi and I'm the Ultimate Arsonist." She hummed.

"Arsonist, hm?" He looked the two up and down.

"Yeah, I do that." Akira shrugged,"And this is my best friend Tsuki Kubota, she's the Ultimate Archer."

Tsuki waved slightly, taking in everyone's appearances.

"Now, what about you long legs?" Akira raised a brow.

"Byakuya Togami, Ultimate Affluent Progeny." Byakuya introduced himself, fixing his glasses.

"So... You're saying your rich?" Akira blinked.

"Very." He nodded, "I'm the heir to the worldwide financial conglomerate, the Togami family."

"Bored of you, moving on." Akira walked over to two girls, muttering,"Asshole, am I right?"

"Don't like him already." Hana shook her head.

"Well, tell me about yourself." Akira looked at the girls.

"Oh! I'm Aoi Asahina. I'm the ultimate swimming pro." Hina smiled to the two girls.

"Ah, that's cool." Akira nodded.

"And... What about you?" Tsuki looked up at the muscular woman.

She wasn't going to lie, she thought she was a man in a dress.

"I am Sakura Ogami, the Ultimate Marshal Artist." She bowed slightly.

"Oh-" Tsuki copied her slightly.

"You look very strong." Akira told her.

Tsuki looked around before she noticed a small girl in the corner, "... I'll be back."

"Okay!" Akira waved.

Tsuki walked over to the girl in the corner, "Hello."

"O-oh, hello." She smiled softly.

"I'm Tsuki." Tsuki copied her smile, "You looked lonely."

"My name is Chihiro Fujisaki and I appreciate it."

"What's your ultimate?"

"I'm the Ultimate Programmer." Chihiro nodded slowly.

"That's cool." Tsuki nodded, "I'm an Archer- Ultimate Archer."

"Woah." Chihiro gasped.

"I like your cardigan." Tsuki bit her cheek.

"Oh, t-thanks." Chihiro fiddled with her fingers,"I like yours, too."

"I stole it so technically it's not mine... But thank you." Tsuki smiled.

"Nobody needs to know that." Chihiro chuckled slightly.

"Well- I'm gonna go back to my friend." Tsuki pointed to Akira, "She's called Akira."

"She looks like she needs your assistance." Chihiro nodded to Akira who was now bothering someone else.

"Bye bye, Chihiro." Tsuki smiled and skipped over to Akira.

"Arson is only a crime if you get caught!" Akira pointed.

"Who are you bothering?" Tsuki hummed.

"This boy." Akira hummed, referring to a boy with large eyebrows.

"Arson is a crime non the less!  The boy pointed.

"Is not!"

"What's your name?" Tsuki crossed her arms.

"I am Kiyotaka Ishimaru, the Ultimate Moral Compass." He introduced himself, rather loudly.

"Right.." Hana nodded slowly.

"I am not a criminal." Akira crossed her arms.

"You've burnt down places."

"But I wasn't caught."

"So?"

"I have no charges on my record."

"For now!"

"Be quiet." She rolled her eyes

"How dare you insult me?" Taka gasped.

"I did no such thing." Akira pointed.

"C-chatting up b-boys already, I see?" A purple haired girl stuttered out to the girls.

"Come over here, I'll throw hands." Akira turned.

"A-am I that ugly you w-wanna fight me?" She sobbed.

"We- Never said that." Tsuki spoke slowly.

"Hell yeah, bitch." Akira interrupted her friend.

"What's your name anyway?" Tsuki blinked.

"T-Toko Fukawa, not l-like you care a-anyway!" She stammered.

"We don't." Hana shrugged and turned to a quiet lilac-haired girl, "What about you?"

The girl raised a brow, arms crossed,"Kyoko Kirigiri."

"You observe things, I like you." Tsuki pointed.

The girl responded with a shrug. Probably not much of a talker. Tsuki looked at the girl for a minute before she backed up and wandered off. Akira obviously went back to what she was doing before, pestering the others.

"I am the ultimate fanfiction writer, Hifumi Yamada!" Hifumi announced.

"Good for you." Byakuya spoke sarcastically.

"What's fanfiction?" Tsuki asked.

"You uncultured-" Hifumi began before Sakura covered his mouth.

"I believe it do be writing based off a pre-existing story." She tried explaining.

"Oh! Thank you Sakura." Tsuki smiled.

"It is my pleasure." Sakura nodded.

"Was he about to raise a hand to a woman?" A man with... Pointy hair walked over.

"Corn head." Akira gasped quietly.

"What did you say?" He turned to Akira.

"Corn head." She pointed to his hair.

"My hair is not corn."

"Then why does it look like corn?"

"Because I- I styled it that way!"

"To look like corn?"

"No." He crossed his arms.

"Is that what people do when they're in gangs?"

"You know I'm in a gang?"

"We're criminals, word gets around." She whispered to him.

"What's my name then?" He crossed his arms.

"Your Mondo Owada, duh."

Mondo gasped and uncrossed them, "Well played."

"Pleasure meeting you face to face." She held out her hand.

Mondo smirked and took her hand, shaking it. Akira smiled, bugging that rule follower was going to be super fun now.

"I believe we haven't introduced, I'm Celeste Ludenburg." The polite girl spoke.

"Nice dress." Akira told her.

"Why thank you." Celeste nodded.

"No problem." She nodded as well.

"Hey, so... Like, why are we here?" Junko crossed her arms.

"I wish we had an answer for that." Sayaka let out a sigh.

"So none of us know why we're he-" Leon began.

All of a sudden, a... Bear? Yep, a bear appeared and sat on the speaking podium.

"Aw! A stuffed bear!" Tsuki smiled.

"I'm not stuffed!" The bear shook his head.

"Ah! It talks!" Leon jumped.

"Of course I talk, I'm Monokuma and I'm your headmaster!" He introduced himself.

"Our... Headmaster is some bear?" Byakuya raised a brow.

"Not just some bear, I'm M-"

"We heard you the first time." Akira pointed.

"Okay, where's the real headmaster?" Mondo rolled his eyes.

"I am the real headmaster, Mr Owada." Monokuma told him.

"Yeah, I'm sure." Mondo scoffed.

"I am."

"So our headmaster is a talking stuffed animal?" Hiro tilted his head.

"I'm not stuffed!" Monokuma answered.

"Woah! Sorry dude." Hiro held his hands up.

"You can't call our headmaster 'Dude'." Taka pointed.

"Why not, Dude?" Mondo turned to him, copying Hiro.

"It's disrespectful!"

"I like this kid, ten points to Gryffindor." Monokuma joked.

"So can we get to our rooms or what? And how long are we here for?" Leon crossed his arms.

"Well, there is another important thing I need to tell you. When you'll be leaving." Monokuma then stopped,"You won't. Ever."

"What do you mean?" Tsuki looked at Monokuma.

"You will all be staying here indefinitely!"

"L-like until w-we die?!" Toko panicked.

"There is another way... The Graduation Clause!" Monokuma told her.

"Which is?" Junko rolled her eyes.

"You just need to kill one of your classmates!"

"Kill..?" Tsuki blinked.

"Kill!" Monokuma confirmed,"Any way you choose! Stabbing, strangling, bludgeoning, drowning, poisoning... I'm not fussed!"

"What the hell are you talking about? To kill each other-" Leon began

"Just causal murder, Y'know?"

"Why do we have to kill each other?" Hina looked at him.

"That's the whole point of a killing game." Monokuma pointed.

"Just let us go home!" Hifumi yelped.

"Hm, lemme think about that.." Monokuma stopped for a second,"Nope!"

He then disappeared, leaving the students with that earth-shattering news. Everyone just looked around at each other... They had to kill each other if they wanted to leave. Nobody knew who to trust... Akira shrugged though, she knew that nobody would trust her right off the bat, especially with this.

"So? What are we going to do now? Just stand around glaring?' Kyoko spoke.

"I mean, that sounds great and all but I'm gonna bounce." Akira began to walk

"You can't leave yet!" Hifumi yelped.

"Well, why not?" She asked.

"Because-" Hifumi began.

"Because we need to figure out who's controlling that damn bear." Junko pointed.

"There ain't no remote in my hands." Akira held them up.

"Well obviously." Byukuya shook his head.

"Just because I'm a criminal doesn't mean I'm behind this." She rolled her eyes.

"Wait, I found something." Sayaka held up a tablet.

"The heck's that?" Hiro raised a brow.

"It says my name." Sayaka turned it on.

Mondo walked over and picked it up, "Yeah, me too."

"And me." Hina added.

"It's a student handbook." Leon read out.

"And we need this because?" Byakuya scoffed.

"It has... Rules?" Tsuki swiped through them.

"Great." Mondo rolled his eyes

"Anyone who kills another student and becomes blackened will graduate... Unless they are discovered." Chihiro read out.

"So, just kill and get caught? Is that it?" Byakuya raised a brow.

"What happens if you get discovered?" Sakura crossed her arms.

"W-why don't you j-just kill someone and f-find out." Toko muttered.

"I'm not killing anyone!" Taka looked at everyone.

"Likely story." Byakuya turned on his heel, walking towards the door.

"We'll see everyone later then." Celeste waved and walked off.

"Sounds like a plan." Akira skipped away

Everyone had one last glance before they all split.
