Chapter 20
Micheal
"Alright, how do I look?"
"Like a diva." David replies,
"I'm serious. Do I look casual or like I'm trying too hard?"
"You look good. She's probably just going to be surprised you're not in a suit."
"What happened to that Chris guy?" I ask walking to my desk.
"Burger boy?"
"Yeah."
"Oh, his girlfriend took everything and left. I don't know where he's at right now though."
"Good. Son of a bitch deserved it."
"Right, because he stole your girl who wasn't even your girl. What did you plan for the date?"
"You're going to have to wait because I'm not telling you unless she likes it."
He smiled and grabs his coat as he walks to the door. Speaking of that, "I have to go see Jules. Good luck with your date." He is about to walk out, but turns back around and shakes his head. "On second thought, I take it back. My luck is very precious and I will not be wasting it on your selfish ass." He finishes and walks out of my office.
Hannah
"Where are we going?" Is the first question I ask when I get in Micheal's car.
I hated surprises as much as I hated ordering more ketchup. Jules learned the hard way. For my twentieth birthday, she tried to surprise with a birthday party. I found out about it and made sure no one showed up, lying like she said it was cancelled. She wasn't very happy with me about that for a while.
Micheal starts the car and begins driving. "You look gorgeous." He replies, ignoring my question.
Have you seen yourself?
I had only ever seen Brick in suits or tuxedos, but now he was wearing tan khaki pants, a navy blue tee shirt and regular Nikes. Wow he looked good in anything.
I smile. "You should wear normal clothes more often. It makes you look more approachable. You know, less intimidating."
"I'll take you up on that." He responds and glances at me before directing his attention back to the road.
"In that case, I also prefer you with nothing, but that's a different topic."
He only laughs at this and I smile. He definitely looked better smiling and laughing compared to the usual frown he always wore.
"Alright, it's a surprise." He says and I groan.
"Could you at least give me a hint?"
"Nope."
"Come on, I'm dying from curiosity over here Brick!"
"Fine, it involves shoes. That's the only hint you're getting."
"Getting snow cones?"
"No."
"Ice cream?"
"No."
"The mall?"
"Nope."
"Micheal there's literally like a hundred things you use shoes in. Can you tell me another hint, please?"
"Okay, you have to move."
"Dancing class?"
"Hok-"
"Oops, looks like we're here." He stops the car. "Now turn around so I can blindfold you."
"Woah, Michael, if you wanted to be a little dirty with me, you could have just said that. I kind of prefer handcuffs instead though." I reply, letting him blindfold me.
He helps me out of the car as I feel him stand in front of me. "Shut up, freak. Take my hand so you don't trip. You have a reputation off of everything. Including your own feet."
"I do not. I am a very stable person. Thank you very much."
"Sure." He says and takes my hand. Leading is wherever we are going.
"Alright, I'm going to take the blindfold off in three... two... one."
Micheal
I watch her closely, trying to see her reaction. I don't know why I chose this as a first date. I had no idea what I was doing when it came to dates and romantic shit like that.
"Skating?" Hannah asks.
"Yeah, what do you think?" I respond, scratching the back of my head.
Fuck. I knew she wasn't going to like it. Should have just taken her to some fancy restaurant or something.
She turns to me with a smile, her dimples deepening. "I love it."
"Huh?"
"I love it. It's very romantic. When I was a teenager, I would always come by. It was the only place I didn't get bullied." She says, laughing and begins walking to get our skates.
"You were bullied? What about at home? Why couldn't you just tell your parents?"
She pauses and doesn't reply, only staring at the floor. After a while, I can't take the silence.
"Hannah?"
She blinks rapidly and looks up, "Um, they're dead. Yeah their dead. They died a while ago. But that doesn't matter, let's get to skating. "
"But wh-"
"Micheal, I said it doesn't matter okay? Now come on."
"Whatever you say."
We walk to the skated, and she points to the red roller skates.
"I want the red ones."
"Yes ma'am and I will get the black ones."
"Why can't you get red like me?"
"Because that makes me feel like a pussy."
She frowns. "A color makes you feel like a pussy or matching with me makes you feel like a pussy? Looks to me like someone's insecure."
"Both and I'm not insecure."
"Fine then. I'll just ask that guy over there if he w-"
"Give me the goddamn skates, Hannah." I groan and she hands the red skates to me with a proud smile.
After we have put them on and are prepared, we go to the roller rink. It starts off good. We hold hands and skate happily. But when she sees someone do a little spin, she decides to try it. She trips and makes both of us land on our asses hard.
When we get back up, she doesn't try anything else. Using me for support everything is good. We laugh and talk as we skate on the rink for thirty minutes or so. That is, until I leave for about two minutes to get hot dogs. I return to find two guards carrying Hannah towards me.
"What the hell happened?"
"I just slipped again. Brick, tell them I am fine." She says, rolling her eyes.
"Get up. Let me see if you can walk."
"Okay, simple."
She tries to get up and almost immediately falls down with a groan. "It's like someone is stabbing my freaking ankle."
I wave the men off and bend down to Hannah.
"Hannah, I'm going to take you home. God, I'm so stupid." I say, feeling like total shit as I picked her up bridal style.
"Oh no, this was my fault. Don't blame yourself. This was by far the best date I've ever been on." She replies with a small smile.
I grin. "Does that mean I can get a second one?"
"Are you asking me on a second date, Michael?"
"Yes I am."
"You do know after the second date, it's considered dating, right?"
I smile, "That's why I'm asking."
"I don't know the answer yet." She mumbles and turns away.
"Alright, I respect that. " I start walking out of the building.
"Thank you. Now put me down. I hate being lifted up. I'm not a damn baby."
"You also hate when someone tries to fucking help you." I grumble, setting her down in the backseat.
"What did you say?"
"I said of course I'll put you down beautiful queen. "
As I am about to close the door, she hits my head. To be such a small woman, she hit like a heavyweight wrestler.
"What the hell was that for?"
"Your head just looks like it's made to be hit."
I bend down and press a small kiss to Hannah's lips. She frowns. "What was that for?"
I shrug and grin, "Your mouth just looks like it's made to me kissed." I say and close the car door.
It isn't long before we are on our way to her house. After about ten minutes, I look back and see she has fallen asleep. I turn the radio down and let her. Soon we arrive.
As I am about to lift her, she wakes up, jumping slightly.
"I'm up!"
"I was just trying to bring you in."
"Oh thank you. I got it though." She replies, getting out of the car. She had a limo as she walked. If I had it my way, I would have carried her inside, but Hannah wouldn't allow it.
"So what's the verdict? Can I get a second date?"
"Yes, you may get a second date Micheal." She says, walking to my window. I pull it down to see her more clearly.
"What? Don't you want me to go home?"
"Hush."
I listen and Hannah leans in. She gives me the sweetest kiss. Her soft and plump lips press against mine and I smile. When I am about to push my tongue in, she backs away.
"Bye." she says. I stare after her lustfully as she walks inside her house and waves before closing the door.
I exhale deeply and run a hand through my hair. "Alright, calm down horny motherfucker." I whisper to myself, driving off.
