Rosalie burst into the open space of the Auradon Prep courtyard with Krissy hot on her heels, the scene in front of them playing out almost as if the world had been moving in slow motion. Mal stood alone in the center of the courtyard, having beaten the two princesses back from Fairy Cottage, though where Ben and the other VKs were, Rosalie couldn't be sure.
The future queen of Auradon vanished in a cloud of purple smoke as Audrey's laugh echoed throughout the courtyard, accompanied by Celia's screams where the two stood atop the high tower, where Rosalie and Krissy had seen the pink lightning mere moments before. The cloud of smoke gradually grew until it finally dissipated, Mal's purple dragon form looming over them as she flew higher and higher to the top of the tower. Across the courtyard, Uma and Harry stood watching the scene before them, horror stricken as Mal attempted to face Audrey on her own, without the help of Hades's Ember.
Mal circled the tower, shooting bursts of flame in Audrey's direction and being careful not to fry Celia in the process, though it was to no avail, as Audrey easily deflected each blast with Maleficent's scepter. Audrey's laugh grew louder as a blast of her own was sent out from the scepter, pink lightning shooting through the sky in multiple directions. Rosalie looked over at Krissy just in time to watch a stream of pink lightning hit her cousin, instantly turning the Princess of Arendelle to stone.
"No!" Rosalie cried, reaching out and grabbing Krissy's shoulders, though where her cousin had stood only moments before now stood a cold pile of rock, perfectly carved to match her features, an expression of terror immortalized on her granite face. "No, no no no no."
"Rosalie!" Harry's voice echoed through the courtyard, and only then did she tear her eyes away from Krissy to see the Pirate calling for her to join them.
"I'm sorry," Rosalie whispered to Krissy, turning back to her briefly before backing away, and beginning to close the distance between her and the Pirates. "I'm so sorry."
Rosalie ran as fast as her legs could carry her, bounding across the courtyard and preparing to dodge any potential hits from Audrey as Mal attempted to ignite the Ember with a blast of her own fire, though she was unsuccessful. It had gotten wet, as Hades had warned would be game over for them, but Mal was hellbent on finding a way to reignite it, even if it killed her in the process.
"You made it back," Harry said, relief lacing his tone as she reached them, studying her to make sure she was alright as Uma's eyes stayed glued to where Mal continued to circle the tower. "Where are the others?"
"Did they not come?" Rosalie asked, her eyes searching frantically around the courtyard for any sign of Ben, Evie, Jay, and Carlos, even that of Ansel and Chad, or Jane, Gil, Doug, Lonnie, and Fairy Godmother, but to her dismay, they were alone.
"It's just us," Harry said.
"Help me, Mal!" Celia cried out from the top of the tower, Audrey's aim now sending various blasts in the dragon's direction, which she continued to dodge.
"She doesn't stand a chance without the Ember." Uma said, defeated.
Rosalie watched, horrified, as a blast of pink lightning connected with one of Mal's wings, sending the dragon toppling backwards as she plummeted towards the ground. Rosalie and Harry followed after Uma as she sprinted back to the center of the courtyard, as Mal managed to catch herself only mere feet before hitting the ground below. Rosalie noticed Uma's shell necklace begin to glow, though as the young sea witch reached for it, another beam of pink light came from the scepter, narrowly missing where Audrey had been aiming for Uma and sending Harry flying backwards into the wall behind them.
"Harry!" Rosalie exclaimed, running after him as Uma continued to try helping Mal, though to her surprise, he hadn't been turned to stone as Krissy had, but instead lay slumped on the ground where he had landed.
Rosalie reached the Pirate, kneeling down next to him to see that his eyes were still open, though cracks spread across the stone wall from the impact of colliding with the boy's body. There was a cut on his forehead, a slow trickle of blood falling down the side of his cheek, and he cradled his arm at an awkward angle as he leaned back against the ruined granite, looking up at Rosalie with a dazed look in his eyes. Rosalie's eyes began to well up with tears as she surveyed his injuries, causing his expression to change to an amused sort of curiosity, a smirk crossing his features.
"There's no need to cry over me, love." Harry assured her. "I'm not worth your tears, trust me on that one."
Rosalie sighed, frustrated as she willed the tears to spill from her eyelids. "Just shut up and give me a minute." she said exasperatedly, as the first tear finally fell from her eye, landing on his injured arm.
Harry watched in awe as Rosalie continued to cry, a small glow of golden light beginning to shine where her tears connected with his skin, and slowly, his body began to knit itself back together again. His ruined arm shifted back until it lay at the correct angle, and the cut on his forehead slowly mended, until nothing more than a scratch remained in its place. The mischievous glint returned to his eyes as he reached up with his now-intact arm to feel for where the cut had once been, a nervous chuckle sounding from his throat as he stared at Rosalie, rendered speechless for the first time in his life.
"What-?" he began to ask, though continued to find himself at a loss for words no matter how hard he tried. "How did you-?"
"C'mon," she said simply, rising to her feet and wiping her eyes before extending a hand to help him up. "We've got a fight to win."
