Hooked a fishy

"Y/n!" A girl called from behind. I grabbed my green dress and turned to look at her.
"Mal! How are you?" I smiled
"I'm good! Hey! Could you by chance let me borrow your notes from Dignity class today? I completely blanked and missed two pages of notes." She was embarrassed, her cheeks turned pink but it looked elegant on her.
"Of course! Ill run them to you after lunch!"
"You're a life saver! Thank you!" She hobbled off in the heels she was still getting used to. It had been almost two years but she was still taking her time.
I guess I can only compare to girls that have been in heels since they could walk.
"Y/n!" A male voice called me this time.
I turned to see Jay and Carlos running toward me.
"Hi boys. What's up?"
"Can you help us for like two seconds? We are trying to practice this thing for the dance next week but we are terrible. Your mom made you take classes so please? We know you're good."
"Right now? I have equity class."
"Please it's really important."
"I can later tonight. I really can't miss class though."
"We have practice till 8."
"I have keys to the practice room. I can get in." I shrugged.
"Seriously?" Carlos squeaked.
"Yeah, my mom runs the class." I laughed
"Awesome! You're the best friend in the whole world y/n! You're magical!" Jay cheered and kissed my cheek
"She is a mermaid!" Carlos pointed out.
"Oh yeah!" Jay laughed and they walked off.

"Hey mom?"
"Yes honey?" My mom pushed her bright red hair behind her to look at me.
"Can I use the studio after hours? Some of the boys wanted to get extra practice in before the dance."
"Sure honey. Remember to lock up afterwords though."
"I know! Thanks!" I grabbed the keys and ran out of the house. I patted my bag to make sure I remembered my notes to drop off to mal and walked to her dorm.
It was a quick trip from her room to my next class which I actually shared with my future students, the VK boys.
"Hey, so I talked to some other guys and they wanted to join tonight. Is that okay?" Jay asked
"Sure!"
"Cool!" Carlos and Jay high fived each other.
Class was slow like it always was but notes were taken nonetheless. Jay mostly cheated off my notes the entire class and Carlos asked to borrow my book for the night. I reluctantly gave it to him.
"You two have got to be the most annoying men I know!" I complained after class.
"Hey! Don't put us under the same category as Chad!"
"I said you guys were annoying. Not insufferable."
I rolled my eyes and walked past them.

Third POV
The sun had gone down and the guys picked each other up and walked to the studio which was still locked.
They sat around and talked till they saw y/n jogging up to them.
"Sorry guys. I'm running behind. Happys son needed help with some homework and we went over our time."
She unlocked the studio and they all flooded in. She disappeared into the back to turn on the lights and get everything working.
She brought out her phone and connected it to the speakers around the building.
"Okay so are we just practicing or is this a lesson?"
"Both?" Carlos said with question in his voice.
"Sure, who needs it?" Everyone raised their hands and she sighed as she put her hands on her hips. This was going to be a long night.

"No it's forward back left right." She pointed to Carlos. He messed it up again and she pinched the bridge of her nose. "Jay can you please help him so I can get others started?" Jay was picking it up easily, he was mostly just here to practice, so he helped others.
I walked over to some of the younger kids and started to teach them but when I got to the part where I needed a partner I was stumped. I needed someone who was good at dancing as my partner but Jay was helping others.
"Damn..." I cursed looking around.
"Need a partner?" A Scottish voice trilled behind me. I turned to see a boy in leather smirking at me.
"You good?"
"I can hold a count or two." He shrugged
"Good enough."
She turned her attention back to the group grasping to her for help and explained the first steps. She turned to him and put her hands in his shoulders like she explained.
"I'm Harry by the way."
"I'm y/n."
"Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too."
The music started and he wasn't kidding. He could hold a count or two. In fact he was better than that. He was really good.
"So how do you know how to dance like this?" She asked looking up at him.
"I think it's the pirate dueling practice I have. Keeps me light in my feet."
"I can tell. You're following perfectly."
We continued to dance on and off, pausing only to explain more to the kids watching.
"Okay I want you guys to pair up and practice." I saw them all awkwardly stand a pair with each other. I started the music and wasn't intending to dance.
"Well?" I heard from behind me. I turned to see Harry holding out his hand. "Wanna dance?"
I rolled my eyes but grabbed his hand and he pulled me in.
The song was slow and everyone was using it as time to practice the shuffle that is used for slow dancing.
"I would say you're a bad dancer but I just can't since you have really good rhythm."
"Well being on a boat and sword fighting every day really works that."
"You we're on a boat? For how long?"
"From the time I was born to about seven. My mom passed away after that and since then my dad moved onto the isle. He doesn't go to that boat anymore. He gave it to me and then when I had to take care of him  I gave it to Uma. It's pretty much her home now."
"Uma..." the name rang a bell but it took me a second to put a face to the name "Shes Ursalas daughter right? The one with the awesome hair?"
"That's how you know her?" Harry laughed
"Hey, I know when someone has good hair. I get it from my mom. After she tried to very inefficiently tried to take care of her land hair, she decided to get into it."
"Wait... your mom is Ariel isn't she?" I laughed and he let out a long 'oh' while looking at the sky. "That makes so much sense."
We both nodded our heads. The song changed to another slow song so we stayed where we were.
"Here. Let me show you something. I watched my parents do it when they would dance on the boat deck."
He lead me on a couple moves and given my dance background I picked up on it pretty quickly.
"You remember this from when you were that young?"
He shrugged and pulled me back into him. I felt more comfortable so I put my arms around his neck and he placed his hands politely on my waist.
"It's kind of the only memory I have of them. It's only of the only ones I have of my mom. Every night I would lay awake and repeat it over and over again hoping to not forget about it."
"You miss her don't you?" I mumbled
"Every single day."
"What about you? What do you remember about your parents?"
"A lot." She laughed. "My mom and dad were like the perfect couple. They obviously know the importance of communication." We both laughed at my joke.
"Tell me a deep memory."
"Well... I remember when I was about nine that my mom came home and she brought my dad a cake. It wasn't anyones birthday, no anniversary, nothing special about that day. But she told him 'every single day is special enough for a cake because it's another day I get to spend with the love of my life... and my husband'." I smiled down at the floor "Dad looked so offended but you could tell behind the face that he was completely and totally obsessed with her. That's how I know their love is real."
"Wow. That's... so sweet. I hope that one day I experience that."
"Me too," I nodded "I hope someone can love me like that."
"Someone will. I can guarantee that."
The music stopped, the people started to get antsy so they took off.
"Have a good night you guys! Get some sleep! And focus on school! I know the dance is coming up and you're excited, but please use these last couple days to focus on school!"
"Yes mother." One little boy sassed as he walked past me to walk out of the studio.
Everyone had departed and I found myself alone in the studio. I pulled the chords of the speakers to turn them off and locked all the doors. I walked to the back of the studio to turn off the lights. I left the front set on to keep a dim light in the building. I grabbed my keys and locked the back of the studio so no one could get in.
I sighed a big sigh and I picked up my dance bag.
"Harry." I gasped as I turned and saw him standing in the doorway.
"Sorry. Didn't mean to startle you."
"It's alright. What are you still doing here? It's late."
"I came to say that I... really enjoyed today. I think you're cool. So when are you free to hang?"
"I can be free any time after 5 every day this week."
"So how about we grab dinner or something?"
"This is starting to sound more like a date." I hinted
"Maybe. Would it be so bad if it was?"
"I'll have to consider it, hooky."
"Don't call me that."
"Why? I think it's got a good ring to it." I smirked up at him
"Well then I guess I'll just have to call you fishy."
"If you do that I will personally sick an alligator on you. And I can do that, I have mermaid heritage."
"Alligators aren't even in the ocean."
"Okay?"
"Mermaids and alligators don't live in the same aquatic environment." He a-matter-of-factly said.
"Who said mermaids don't exist in lakes and rivers?"
"Now you're just messing with me."
"No I definitely am." I walked toward the front door and he followed
"So dinner or not?" We both stepped out of the building and I turned to put the key into the lock
"Wow... pushy! But... sure. Not a date though! It's gonna take a lot more than this to get me to go out with you, hooky."
"It's a challenge then?"
"Sure. Whatever you feel." I locked the door behind me and turned to say goodbye.
"Well then. I'll see you tomorrow night for dinner. I'll pick you up from your room at 6."
"Sounds good."
"Want me to walk you back?"
"Nah, I'm good. Besides I have to drop off the keys to my mom."
"Alrighty then. Good night, fishy." He leaned down and placed a soft kiss on my cheek.
He turned and started to walk away. I was stunned at the action but slightly excited by it. He was very attractive. I just had to get to know him first. Before I acted on my impulse to fall in love with him
