Chapter 20

Changbin's bed wasn't much bigger than Hyunjin's, but he had two blankets – for what, Hyunjin had never asked, but he assumed Changbin got cold easily when he first saw Changbin's collection of fluffy socks and oversized fuzzy sweaters that he only wore at home. Changbin was always very cute in them. Maybe he would be alright with letting Hyunjin wear them?

"Hyung," Hyunjin sat on the edge of the bed and tugged Changbin between his knees. He looked up through his lashes and smiled. "Kiss me."

Changbin, still looking flustered and blushing, softly lifted Hyunjin's chin with his fingertips and pressed a warm, chaste kiss to his lips. And lingered.

Hyunjin wanted to melt under Changbin's hands and become one with the bed, and drag Changbin down with him.

"Jinnie," Changbin whispered.

"Yeah," Hyunjin replied, and got under the blankets, watching Changbin follow him.

"You're so..."

"So?"

"Beautiful," Changbin said simply.

"Hyung." Hyunjin took Changbin's hand in the small space between them. "There's still a lot I don't know, but I really, really want to do my best with you."

"Same," Changbin smiled. "I love you, and whatever you need, I'll do my best."

"Hmm," Hyunjin pretended to think. "I need you to be the big spoon tonight but I also don't want to stop looking at you."

Changbin blinked. He shuffled closer, so their knees were touching. Hyunjin hooked an ankle around Changbin's leg.

"This is okay too," Hyunjin murmured. Despite wanting to see Changbin's face and the smile that seemed to have become a permanent fixture on his lips, his body recognised lying in bed and feeling warm. His eyelids were getting heavier. "Can you fall asleep like this?"

Changbin put an arm over Hyunjin's waist and adjusted the blankets covering them. So close that Hyunjin could feel his breath on his lips, Changbin whispered, "Yes."

Hyunjin smiled and closed his eyes. For a while, he felt his own chest rise and fall and felt Changbin's breath. Every small movement rustled the blankets softly, but Hyunjin didn't mind.

He fell asleep smiling.

Waking up in the arms of his boyfriend was wonderful, too. Hyunjin very desperately wanted to ditch all his classes for the day and not leave bed at all, but unfortunately for them both it was a Tuesday. Hyunjin sucked a hickey to Changbin's neck before he got up because he could, and because he liked the quiet sleepy moan he received as Changbin tried to blink the sleep away and turn off his alarm.

"Hyunjinnie," Changbin smiled when the alarm was finally quiet. "Good morning, love."

"Good morning to you too," Hyunjin said, shivering just the tiniest amount at the new nickname.

"You like it when I call you love?" Changbin asked, because he was too observant for his own good.

"I like a lot of things," Hyunjin replied, noticing how he was the one flustered and blushing now, and Changbin was smirking at him from under him. All because of one term of endearment.

"Sure, love," Changbin said, smiling, so Hyunjin kissed him before he could say anything else, uncaring of their morning breath.

"I'll make us coffee," Hyunjin swiftly left the bed, leaving Changbin staring at a space where Hyunjin wasn't anymore.

Making coffee was a familiar task. Today, Hyunjin made coffee with a smile. The thought of sharing his mornings with Changbin filled him with joy, and he briefly wondered how they'd avoided each other on the days Changbin had to leave early and go to work, but well – Changbin needed to be at the cafe by seven, and that was the earliest Hyunjin woke up, despite becoming a morning person. Today Hyunjin had just adapted his alarm to fit Changbin's schedule.

He resolved to enjoy the morning, to look at Changbin's fluffy bed hair, smile at him squinting into the light of dawn and brighten at the sight of a steaming mug of coffee.

Changbin kissed him on the cheek as thanks for every little thing Hyunjin did for him, from handing him the mug to squeezing toothpaste on his toothbrush to holding the door open for him.

Hyunjin didn't even mind the increasingly teasing remarks Minho and Felix made later. He was just happy to see Changbin for lunch again at the cafe, and accept the pancakes with a kiss on the cheek.

"I love you," Hyunjin murmured.

Jisung snorted next to him, a giant to-go cup of coffee in his hands and three muffin wrappers around him from his lunch. "I can't decide if I'm happy for you, or if I'm happy I'm not you, and whether or not I act the same with Minho without realising. And I don't know how I feel about any of that."

"Shut up, Sungie," Changbin said, but a customer needed his attention so he had to turn away.

"You know," Jisung said conversationally to Hyunjin, "Chan-hyung and I had to hear him pine about you for months. It was kinda cute in the beginning but I was seriously starting to wonder if he hit his head somewhere, because you're pretty and all that but the way Changbin talked about you was like, I don't know, dude."

"Like what," Hyunjin said, both curious and mortified by his curiosity.

"I'll tell you," Jisung smirked, "if you call me bro first."

"I'll kill you first," Hyunjin hissed, lowering his voice.

Jisung blinked. "Damn, that's the exact noise Dori makes when I pet him wrong. Are you related to my child? Am I your father? Wait no, this is one thought too much."

"I'm older than you by six months," Hyunjin rolled his eyes. He couldn't help but smile at being compared to Dori. Not that Jisung would realise, anyway. "... Bro."

"What!" Jisung yelled, "I just heard something? Did you say that?"

Hyunjin facepalmed. "Yes, Jisung. I won't repeat it."

"Bro," Jisung shook his head. "Binnie-hyung is bringing out the best in you. You know I love you no matter what, right?"

"Of course," Hyunjin nodded. "I love you too, but I'll murder you if you try to hug me again."

Jisung laughed. "Fair enough. Changbin really called you the love of his life, one time. Mostly he just talked about how pretty you were, which is kinda adorable. But that one time, we were in the studio all night, talking about what kind of new songs we wanted to make. And he just pulled out a usb stick I had never seen before and showed us some very awesome beats. And guess what his lyrics were!"

Hyunjin furrowed his brows. "I don't know, happy songs? He said he likes making songs that make people feel good, lately."

Jisung took a sip of his coffee and took his time humming at the taste and dealing up the dramatics. "They were lovesongs. Like, ten of them."

"Lovesongs?"

"Yup," Jisung's eyes focused on something behind Hyunjin, so he turned around.

Changbin was completing an order for a customer, multiple cups of coffee before him that he topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle.

"He said they were all for you, and that he hoped he'd get a chance to show them to you. The next day he threatened us with no hugs for a month if we ever said anything to anyone, and that those lyrics were embarrassing and they'd never see the light of day, ever." Jisung raised a knowing eyebrow. "He didn't say anything about deleting those files."

"Oh," Hyunjin said. So, Changbin had not only been in love with him without Hyunjin noticing a single thing, he'd also written love songs. "I hope they're not sad love songs."

Jisung didn't reply for a moment. "You really love him too, huh?"

"Yeah," Hyunjin met Jisung's eyes. "He's... like, I've always known he's the best person I know, and of course I've always known he was handsome. I've met him. Now I've spent so much time with him, it just hit me that I really just... want to be with him."

"You're valid, Jinnie," Jisung smirked widely, "I get it. After all, I felt the exact same thing when I met Minho-hyung and realised I was gay –"

"Sungie," Hyunjin hissed as he rolled his eyes so hard his head hurt, "I've fucking known I'm bisexual for years. There's no sexuality crisis here. What are you on?"

"Ha!" Jisung whooped. "You called me 'Sungie.' You've never done that before. I now pronounce us best friend and best friend, forever soulmates whose only disagreement is the place of cats in the universe. We'll be bros from now until forever, I'm not sorry, there's no way out now. If you and Binnie-hyung fight you will both have to suffer my anguished tears until you're back together. Being in Stray Kids is a forever kind of thing."

Hyunjin didn't know what to say to that.

Apparently neither did Jisung, because when he couldn't think of how to continue what he was saying, he just froze in place and blinked occasionally.

Hyunjin let Jisung panic internally for another moment before he sighed. "Just show me your cutest Doongie videos, I know you want to."

Jisung, relieved that the moment was over, breathed in and talked about Doongie until Changbin came back to them. Changbin, who knew Hyunjin enjoyed hearing about the cats despite what his miserable (mirror practiced) expression might say, burst into laughter and excused himself to the back to avoid giving away Hyunjin's secrets. Like the amazing boyfriend he was.
