Annabeth woke to her half sister, Alice, shaking her.
"Annabeth, Annabeth wake up, you've got a quest." She said.
Annabeth groaned and rubbed her eyes, she was definitely not a morning person, especially not when she had a quest.
She picked out some clothes, and packed some extra clothes in a backpack.
"You gonna eat before you go?" Alice asked.
Alice was a thirteen-year-old demigod daughter of Athena, she had came to camp the previous month, and she was just the sweetest girl.
"Of course, I would never leave on an empty stomach." She smiled.
They walked to the mess hall, the smell of food invading Annabeths nostrils. She breathed it in, she wanted to make sure she breathed it all in before she went on yet another quest. This one she was going on with Percy, Piper, and Leo. They were going to find Poseidons.
"Oh, the food smells so good." Annabeth said.
"Yeah." Alice grinned.
Annabeth got a stack of pancakes and strawberries and blueberries.
"Thank gods for good food." Alice said.
"Thank gods." Annabeth agreed.
She shoveled it all into her mouth before you could say the word hi.
"You were done quickly." Macolm said.
"Yeah, I want to get some food in my stomach before I leave." Annabeth said.
She rose from the table, said goodbye to her siblings, and then ran towards Piper Percy and Leo, who were waiting for her by Thalia's tree.
"Ready to go?" Percy asked her.
"Of course." Annabeth grumbled.
Percy had gotten a bag of food, Piper got one of supplies, Leo wasn't trusted with anything, so Annabeth got a bag with four bottles of water.
They climbed into the car and they drove off to the city where they would catch a train.
After they got out of the car and got on a train, Annabeth already was thinking of the bad things that could happen to her.
Number one on her list was they run into a deadly monster and all die immediately. Number two was they find the Trident, but they don't handle it correctly and all die.
Annabeth could keep going forever, but Percy gave her hand a squeeze, which shook Annabeth out of her thoughts.
"What." Annabeth asked with more anger than necessary.
"Wow, calm down Annie, I was just trying to show love and affection." Percy said.
"Right, sorry, I'm kinda stressed about the situation, y'know, cause I still want to get a job." Annabeth said.
"I know, trust me, as soon as we can get things on a normal schedule, we can try and make it so we can get jobs." He said.
Annabeth raised her eyebrows "what kind of job would you want?"
"Dunno, like a marine biologist, or I could work at an aquarium."
"I'm picturing you talking with the sea animals and you are the only one who understands what's wrong with them, seems like a perfect job to me." Annabeth said.
"Uh, guys." Leo said.
"Yeah?" Piper asked.
"We kinda got trouble, theres a giant glowing monster, looks like its hot, temperature-wise that is." He replied.
"It's outside." Percy said.
"It's also our stop." Piper said.
"Well, looks like this is our first monster to fight today."
Annabeth gave a halfhearted cheer.
They got off the bus and immediately started fighting.
"What is this thing, everytime I get close to it, it gets hot!" Piper wailed.
"I dunno, I haven't heard of it." Annabeth swung her draken-bone sword at it.
Annabeth took a step back, Leo was blasting fire at it, which appeared to  be useless, but he still did it. She examined the monster, Piper was right, the closer you got, the hotter it got, but Annabeth wanted to be brave, so she charged it and stabbed it in the heart. It stunned the monster, but it didn't do much damage. Annabeth didn't back away, she tried to ignore the heat, and the fact she was getting a severe sunburn. She stabbed again. The monster was clearly a sort of creature of Apollo, because it wasn't like fire, it was more like sun.
"Annabeth, get away from that thing." Percy warned, attempting to blast water at it.
Annabeth threw her sword at it, the heat had really began to get to her, dizziness washing over her. The sword hit and the monster crumbled to dust.
"Annabeth, ANNABETH." Percy's voice was distant, but that didn't matter as she began to pass out.
A little while late she awoke in a field.
"Percy." She groaned.
"I'm right here." Percy said.
"What happened?" She asked.
"You fought that sun monster and passed out, Piper says it's heatstroke." Percy said.
Piper walked into view, along with Leo, who was holding a stick above his head shouting things about pancakes.
"Oh, Annabeth, thank the gods you are awake, I was starting to get worried." Piper pulled her in for a hug, which made her sunburned back hurt.
Annabeths head was pounding "How long?"
"About three days, we tried not to wake you." Percy said.
"Where are we?" Annabeth asked.
"Texas." Percy grinned.
"How did we get here?" Annabeth asked.
"By trains and buses, Poseidon says his Trident should be in Arizona." Percy said.
"Well, we should get going, shouldn't we?" Annabeth asked, and they set off in the sun.
