Chapter 4- Honeydew History!

Nothing worked. Aryk's parents took her all over the world to specialists who would try to cure her. Surgery after surgery after surgery. Magic wasn't very well known of a few years ago.

At a young age, the stress was hard on her. It wasn't healthy to have all of this built up on her. Yet what could she do about it? Nothing. Nothing but plaster on a smile that looked real and wait until she was home and her parents were gone to cry.

For her parents sake, Aryk would lie that things were getting better with each passing surgery. Over the year she had perfected a fake smile for them. After all, they were doing they're best for her. They wanted Aryk to be happy.

But they didn't know that this whole incident was caused by a dark magic, all the way back when she was 4 years old. And they wouldn't ever find out; not if Aryk could help it. She didn't want them worrying even more.

So for her parents sake, she pretended to be happy and kept the secret from them. When she enrolled for Honeydew Academy, she told her parents she was going to a boarding school in England with Candy.

Aryk's parents didn't stop her. They wanted Aryk to live her life to the fullest before death. Which they thought could happen at any given moment.

At Honeydew Academy, Aryk found out there were people just like her. There were other dwarves; dwarves that had been turned into phoenixes; heck with it, even phoenixes that had been turned into dwarves and people!

There were people from Candy's country, and neighboring countries. Which are all full of magic. And all of the teens that could afford it went to Honeydew. Most of them did. So Honeydew was huge. Honeydew was also founded from the 5 countries of Elftopia, Fruitopia, Princess Cat, Candy Land, and Narnia. The countries were on an island about the size of the United Kingdom and Ireland put together.

Honeydew consisted of 5 main buildings. The literature and history/geography building, the maths and sciences building, the activity center, the electives building, the building with cafeteria, library, auditorium and gym in it, and the magic building.

The building with literature and geography/history was named World of Literature, although everyone called it the Lit. building.

The math and science building was named Astromathical-- the name coming from science, magic, and math.

The activity center was simply called the activity center or activity central. But the popular kids called it "loser-ville", despite the fact that they were the ones who used it most.

The electives building was called the I'M HERE EARLY building, a.k.a Imhe (Ihm-hee), because every student always rushed to get to their classes on time. Don't wanna miss their favorite class of the day!

The cafeteria, library, and gym building was called the Collide building because nerds and jocks would often collide into one-another in a rush to get to the library or gym, or leave the library or gym. Sometimes even lunch staff would slam into the clumsy, running students.

Last but not least, the magic building. The magic building was called Magic Hall, because why not? Just magic classes were here and it was the reason why thousands of kids came here in the first place.

Of course, there were other buildings like the administrations office, stables, jobs, cafes/resturaunts, clubs and dorms spread around campus, too; but these were the main buildings. So the whole campus was huge.

The junior high is 7th & 8th grade. Girls were in dorms A and C. Boys were in dorms B & D.

The high school is grades 9th-12th. But only 9th and 10th grade have gender separated dorms-- dorms 1, 2, 3 & 4. So 11th and 12th grade shared dorms 5, 6, 7 & 8.

You would think that for 8,974 students, 12 dorms wouldn't be enough. But each dorm had 9 floors and each floor had 100 rooms. Plus, it was 2 to a room. And instead of having one long hallway on each floor, the dorms were in cross shapes. Shaped like this: ✚. There was 25 rooms down each of the four halls and in the center there was a lounge area on each floor where people would often hang out during dorm time or where parties would be thrown on weekends. It was quite a nice space actually, with chairs and side tables spread around the edges and an eternal fire place in the center of it all, with fairy lights strewn across the ceiling. Very extravagant. The downside though was you could find at least one couple hooking up in one of the lounges in a dormitory. Makes sense though. I mean, who wouldn't want a magical background when they get asked to be someone's lover (although none and I mean none of these couples last). Honeydew Academy spares no expense in giving their students the best expirience.

But where does all the funding come from? Each month a tax goes out to all the residents in all 5 countries that covers Honeydew's expenses. Yet that depends on your salary and if you went to Honeydew Academy or not. People who make less pay less and those who make more pay more. Then the factor if you went there or not comes in to play.

If you were there for oh, maybe only a year or 2 and made high salary, you would pay 2,000 Windzacoy (1 Windzacoy is the equivalent of 2 U.S. dollars) a month. If you attended Honeydew for 3-5 years and made high salary, you would pay in the 4,000 Windzacoy range. Now if you went there for the whole 6 years? Heh, you better be wishing you make a lot of money because sweetheart, at the very minimum, you would pay 10,000 Winzaroos (slang for Windzacoy like the word buckaroos)! And that is if you make low salary. If you were to make a high salary and attended the full intuition, you would pay at least 20,000 Windzacoy per month.

And after all this there is the cost of sending your child here! The cost for junior high for one year is 500 Windzacoy. If you enroll for 2 years (like it's the beginning of your 7th grade year and you sign up for both 7th and 8th) the fee is 800. The fine for one year of highschool is 1,000. Yet there is a deal where if you in your 9th year for all 4 years of highschool, the cost is only 2,500 Windzacoy. And if you attended HAJH before? You're in luck because you're just paying 1,000 for all 4 years of intuition.

Most start there 7th year and go all the way through 12th, but some start in their 9th year, too. Some even transfer throughout the year and are able to get in for free. I must say that that is a rare occasion, though.

There is summer break, fall break, winter break, and spring break. Summer is the longest, from May onto September.

A/N:

Another history/backstory chapter. These are very important so you know everything. I might put one between each chapter. Hope that all wasn't too confusing. But you need to know the layouts and buildings and economy and funding and money and all that jabba jabba.

Throughout this chapter when I was writing, I was speaking what I was typing in a Bunnicat Island (that is the name of the island that Honeydew and the 5 countries are located on) accent. I also really enjoy writing these stories. Super fun. Oh and if you were wondering, me and 2 friends of mine had to create a country or whatever is geography back in 6th grade. There were only 3 countries--Princess Cat, Candy Land, and Fruitopia. Each country for the 3 of us. And since they're kinda like countries you'd see in a book like this, I involved them in this book. Elftopia was added and Narnia, too. And there's Bunnicat island for you! And I promise I will put a picture of the flag on here sometime in the future. Idk what chapter but I know I will.

Adios el ninos y la ninas! Mucho gusto y soy hasta luego!!! :)
