CHAPTER SIX: bohemian rhapsody
{ " put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger now he's dead " -- bohemian rhapsody, queen, 1975 }
Evie stared back at the redhead in shock. Of course she had heard through the grape vine of Archie's "extracurricular activities" with his old music teacher, and hearing that she was dead was definitely a shock.
"Oh my goodness." She said, finally breaking the silence.
"And they think it was the same person who tried to kill my father." Archie muttered, his voice a little shaky. There was a darkness in his eyes. It was unlike the shade of lust they had been the previous night; this shade was one of hatred.
"The Black Hood?" Evie asked in a low voice. Saying the name out loud made the whole thing a lot scarier.
Archie nodded and rubbed the back of his neck as he looked at his phone. Most of his texts had been about the Black Hood, and asking he was okay, since he hadn't answered his phone because he'd been hooking up with Evie. There were three texts, though, that were from Veronica.
Ronnie ❤️
I guess you aren't coming, then?
Ronnie ❤️
I'm waiting, Archie.
Ronnie ❤️
Your loss, asshole. 👋
The boy chuckled, much to Evie's surprise, given the recent news.
"Andrews? Everything okay?" She asked.
"More than okay." He laughed and showed her the text messages.
Evie smirked as she read them over. Noticing the heart by Veronica's name, she quickly snatched the phone from Archie's grasp.
"Whoa, hey!" He exclaimed, tackling her down onto the bed to try and grab it back.
Evie opened up Veronica's contact and changed her name to "Her Lodgessness", complete with a middle finger emoji. She then typed up her own phone number into a contact, then gave the phone back to Archie, who was still laying on top of her. Evie then realized she was still only dressed in her undergarments.
"Here, Red. I think after last night, you should probably have my phone number." She smirked up at the redhead.
Archie grinned and looked at his phone, quickly typing in "Evie 🐝" as the name and erasing the "Honeybee" Evie had written in. He added a little bee emoji next to it, just for fun. "Hey, I saw all three of your tattoos last night, Genevieve. I think I've earned the right to call you Evie." He whispered, a wild grin on his face.
"Which three tattoos?" Evie asked, feigning confusion with a playful smirk.
"Well, this one, for starters." Archie said, gently running his fingers along the snake on her side. "Then this one." He said, leaning down to kiss the small cross that was behind her left ear, sending a shiver through Evie's body. "But my favorite ..." he slid his hand down her side, stopping on her right buttocks. A small little honeybee played peek-a-boo behind her black underwear, and the sight of it made Archie want to repeat every event of the previous night.
But, he had to get home. He needed to shower and change his clothes. They still had school today.
The two got up, and Evie prepared to sneak him out so her brother wouldn't notice. Before he finished hopping out of the window, Evie pulled him in and gave him a long kiss. As she pulled away, leaving Archie breathless, she shot him a wink. "The Serpents are planning a little surprise at school today, Andrews." She smirked and slid her finger down his chest. "I think you're going to like it." She whispered before practically pushing him out of the window. She then shut it behind, watched to make sure it looked like he had left the Jones's trailer, and then quickly hopped in the shower to get ready for school. She then put on her rebellion outfit, which consisted of a pair of cutoff jean shorts, an old, black, Southside High t-shirt that had been turned into a crop top, and her boots. She threw long pants and her jacket over it, just for the ride to school on the bike. If for some reason she fell off, she really didn't feel like getting roadburn.
Evie then grabbed her bag, her helmet, and her keys, muttered a goodbye to her brother, and raced off towards Riverdale High School.
The Serpents all met in front of the school, dressed in every single way that could break the dress code, besides the "gang symbol" part. Evie, Sweet Pea, Jughead, and Toni rounded out the front. Evie watched as the students around them watched in shock. Evie found herself searching for the brown eyes of a familiar ginger, but he was nowhere to be seen. Unfortunately, his ex-girlfriend was.
"Good morning, Veronica!" Evie said, greeting the girl as cheerfully as Veronica had the Serpents' first day at Riverdale.
Veronica gave Evie the coldest glare. "What are you all up to? Dressing like sluts and hobos?"
"We're protesting the dress code, Veronica. We want our jackets back." Jughead piped up.
"And this is how you plan on getting them back?" She asked, looking up and down at the group. She turned to Evie and smirked. "Honeybee, are you sure this isn't just your own messed up way of trying to get more boys to look at you?"
Evie snorted and rolled her eyes at the girl. "Trust me, Lodge, I don't need to make any of them look. They all just do." She pushed past the girl and entered the school, where Principal Weatherbee and a group of other faculty members stood.
The rest of the Serpents followed her in, Sweet Pea standing tall by his sister's side.
"Principal Weatherbee, I understand we are breaking the dress code." Evie began. "But you see, when you make us take off our Serpent jackets, you take away part of us. It'd be the same as making sure no one in this building wore a single piece of clothing representing Riverdale High." She watched as a redheaded boy in a blue and yellow letterman's jacket entered the building, and smirked as his eyes went wide as he took in the group. "Hey, Andrews." She called out, bringing the attention to Archie.
Archie's cheeks flushed as he looked over at Evie, trying to prevent the emotional effect she had on him from being known to everyone. "Yeah, Honeybee?"
"Would you mind taking off every piece of clothing you have on representing this school?" She said, crossing her arms. Archie gave her a look, and she winked at him. She'd seen him 100% nude only an hour before. What was the big deal with taking off his Riverdale stuff?
He sighed and shrugged out of his jacket, then handed it to her. He then peeled out of his t-shirt, and stood before everyone, showing off his glorious muscles. "Principal Weatherbee, I think she's right." Archie said, looking over at the Serpents. You can't expect them to not wear their Serpent gear, just like you would never make us abandon our Riverdale apparel."
The principal stared down Evie and Archie, before sighing and shaking his head. "You all must be back in school appropriate clothing by the end of first period, but other than that ... you may wear your Southside jackets and any other clothing."
A cheer erupted in the group and the principal made his way back to his office. Someone wrapped Evie up in a bear hug, and she laughed seeing that it was Fangs.
"You did it, Evie. You're a friggin' genius!" He cheered, lifting her up into the air. Evie laughed and kissed his cheek, then hopped out of his arms and walked over to Archie, who was putting his shirt back on.
"Hey, Red." She called out, a smile on her face. "Thanks."
He grinned back at her. "You're welcome, Honeybee." He handed her his Riverdale jacket. "Here. Then you can cover up before you go and change."
She smiled at the sweet gesture. Apparently, there were still gentlemen in the world. "Thanks, Andrews." She winked at him and snuck by, leaving him with a pat on the behind as she made her way towards the bathroom, where she could change into her Serpent jacket and a pair of school appropriate denim shorts.
As she was on her way back out of the bathroom, she was stopped by a furious Veronica Lodge. "Where did you get that jacket? Steal it?"
"No, I don't steal." Evie said with a smile. "He gave it to me to cover up after our little demonstration. Wasn't that sweet? You've got yourself a good boyfriend there, V." She said in a mocking voice.
Evie knew Veronica and Archie weren't together anymore, but Veronica didn't know that Evie knew that.
Veronica scoffed. "Mr. Andrews and I are no longer together. Go ahead, have my leftovers, you Serpent Whore." She flashed a fake smile and gave a little wave before spinning on her heels and stomping off.
Evie started to laugh to herself as she leaned up against the wall, inspecting the jacket. It was warm and comfortable, and it had a familiar smell to it. The same smell she'd woken up with this morning: a faint smell of soap mixed with the scent of aftershave.
"Honeybee." Sweet Pea's voice creeping up from behind her nearly scared the crap out of Evie.
"Hey big bro. My plan worked." She said with a grin.
"Yes, I see that." He said, smiling, but not quite returning the smile Evie had. "So, question: that male visitor you had this morning ... I couldn't quite tell who it was, nor did I really care, until this morning, about five minutes ago. Then, it became crystal clear. What the hell are you doing sleeping around with Andrews?" Sweet Pea hissed.
His sister quickly shushed him, and rolled her eyes. "What the hell do you care? It's fun. And he's friends with Jug, you know that." Evie scoffed.
"Yippee. Because you know I'm just the biggest fan of Jughead's." Sweet Pea muttered.
"Oh whatever." Evie rolled her eyes. "I don't care what you have to say, Sweet Pea. Just keep it quiet. It doesn't matter to you anyways. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a jacket to return."
