Devesh: Why grahas? I mean u seem quite well in characterization, not a wider plot? Why not your own world?

Author: Indian mythology (history) has been the greatest treasure amongst all other mythologies of the world, the earliest recorded, the most read. The essence of its holiness hasn't been awarded the appropriate place that it deserves. Amidst the great Ocean of knowledge, very little light has been thrown on the extremely vital bodies of science and astrology, the Navagrahas - the rewarder of the deeds of all living beings. Hence it is my attempt to write The Divinities of Navalok to highlight their essence in the form of a fantasy tale that is amusing and at the same time informative to the young audience.

Devesh : You nearly stopped writing for studies, was comeback easy? How did you deal with it?

Author: I had stopped writing to focus on my primary goal to Crack NEET, which I eventually was successful at. It was difficult to get back to writing to be honest but with time, the flare was back. As I would never stop thinking about the etched out plot in my mind, the scenes were forever fresh and it was painless to write when I once started. I did face some technical issues initially but gradually became habituated with it and writing became easy.

Devesh: The most hilarious incident of yours while u were writing your book?

Author: I found a lot of answers while writing my book which I do find amusing if not hilarious. For one thing, I had always thought that you seek answers to unanswered questions but my writing surprised me by giving answers which I had never wanted to know. Also, there were times when certain incidents occurred in real life that matched the plot while I was at it, which I find mysterious yet hilarious.

Devesh: Other than writing, what do you like, as if in spare time?

Author: I love reading books a lot, specially Fantasy and Romance along with a touch of spirituality. Writing my poems and converting them into songs is something I specialise in. I craft stuff when free along with painting and sketching. I am trained in Kuchipudi and love to dance too. Cooking Indian dishes is a favourite pastime as well.

Devesh: The most beautiful and the most harsh comment u have got on your work?

Author: I don't exactly remember the comments and I beg pardon for not being able to quote them. I remember one user expressing that Navalok was one of the best books she had ever read and compared it to the great works of Amish Sir. That till date is the best comment for me which shares it's value with another user commenting how my book turned her into a Fantasy lover. I think it is a great achievement on my part as a writer and I humbly thank my audience for accepting my work. The harshest comment was a blessing in itself. I completely agree that without criticism we will never be able to improve ourselves. The user here told me to edit my story as it was meaningless to include some unnecessary parts and with time I realised that the reviewer was correct and her honest words made me edit Navalok to what it is today. I am thankful for every review specially the ones which helped me to improve my work and I appreciate them for their time and patience.

Devesh : If Rev wouldn't have been there, as if not her, who else?

Author: Revati is an irreplaceable character. She is the best description of a person stepping into her adulthood who is confused and in dilemma, not knowing what to do. The chaos in her life shows how all of us face various situations and how guidance and good companionship help us to rise again after facing many failures.

Devesh: Any advise for emerging writers (any mistake you did and u think they shouldn't)???

Author : Just write it. Whatever you have on your mind. Just write it. You may look at the word count of big, fat books and wonder how the author took to writing such a good book but don't worry. Nothing happens in a day, you must work hard, think about the plot, enact the roles of your characters, visualise and imagine the scenes, play it in your mind and then pen it down. It might sound difficult in the beginning but as you start planning on a daily basis, you will realise this is where you have always belonged. But take the first step. Don't think about criticism right in the start for that may demotivate you. Remember that even the best of the best works have flaws. When time comes, accept them and edit it to better your version but don't be afraid. Be courageous, take to your desk and write the world that you have in your mind without thinking about the outcome. You must begin and finish the tale to know where you went wrong before editing. So have patience, work slow but steady and craft your story. All the best.
