It was a dreary Tuesday, rain was falling and the wind was picking up. Due to the disappointing weather you were alone in your home. Sat in your favourite chair, the TV playing a random channel, most likely teleshopping, you took the chance to gather your thoughts. It was a year today you had started dating Mituna Captor, the Gemini troll from Alternia. You were happy although, Mituna didn't seem as happy, however he sure did work hard to seem over the moon. You didn't understand. Had you forgotten something important to him? Did something bad happen? Were you not enough? Nothing you could think of could explain his hesitance to accept your love. 

You picked up your phone, the time was 17:18 and checked your messages. Nothing. You had sent a text or two, saying good morning and to try to get him to call you. You barely had any credit. He had seen them four hours ago but hadn't even attempted to write back. You decided to call your phones contractor and buy more credit, you had important things to do. Yet when you make the purchase, the first thing you do is go to Mituna's contact. Your thumb taps the green phone icon before you can talk yourself out of it. 

"Hello?" 

"Hi Tuna!"

"Hi _____."

"So, special day today."

"It's not your birthday, and it's not mine."

"Yeah, so what is it."

"I don't know?"

"You can stop joking now Tuna."

"I'm not, I really don't know."

"Oh. It's our one year anniversary." 

"Oh, oh sorry um, do you want to come over?"

"Uh, no, no. It's raining..."

"Yeah." Several moments passed by in silence and only one thing was floating about in your head.

"Do you miss her?"

"What?"

"Do you miss her... Latula?" You could almost see the wide eyes, even over the phone.

"Not a day goes by when I don't." There goes your heart.

"Ok. That was all I needed to hear Tuna. Um, I guess we're over then."

"Wait, what?"

"You miss Latula and it isn't fair. No to you, me or Latula. It's not fair that you are with me when you have little to no attraction to me, unfair to me who was in an unrequited relationship and it's not fair to Latula, who wants you back."

"Since when?" 

"Since you broke up. She just never said anything thinking you'd be happier with someone else. Sorry that I couldn't be that someone else."

"I'm sorry."

"No, it's fine. I can't force you to be in a relationship with me. So, go. I'll talk to you later Mituna." You hung up on him. You weren't trying to be cruel but you felt like your heart was trying to beat up your brain and you just wanted to curl up in a ball and forget the world. 

A month later, you've finally pieced what you can back together and actually go outside now. However, this quickly stopped when you saw them. Mituna and Latula together on a date. Everything that you pieced up came crashing back down. 

This wasn't fair.
