chapter 7
The warm sunlight bathed the garden as the six sat together, their conversations and laughter blending with the rustle of the trees. Taehyung had somehow roped everyone into a game of truth or dare, his grin mischievous as he eyed his next target.
“Jungkook,” Taehyung declared, pointing dramatically. “Truth or dare?”
Jungkook smirked. “Dare, obviously.”
Taehyung’s grin widened. “I dare you to climb that tree and bring back a leaf.”
Jungkook didn’t even hesitate. “That’s it? Too easy.”
He shot up, dusted his hands, and jogged toward the tree. Everyone watched as he scaled it with an ease that only Jungkook could muster, snatched a leaf, and slid back down in seconds.
“Show-off,” Taehyung muttered as Jungkook triumphantly held up the leaf.
“Don’t be jealous, hyung,” Jungkook teased, sitting back down.
“Okay, okay,” Namjoon interrupted, chuckling. “My turn. Yoongi-hyung, truth or dare?”
Yoongi’s lips twitched faintly, sensing the younger man’s challenge. “Truth.”
Namjoon tilted his head, thinking for a moment. “What’s the one thing you’ve always wanted to do but never had the chance?”
The question caught Yoongi off guard. His eyes dropped to the blanket as he considered his answer. Finally, he murmured, “Travel. See the world, I guess.”
Jimin glanced at him, noticing the flicker of longing in Yoongi’s eyes.
“Where would you go first?” Jimin asked softly, leaning a little closer.
Yoongi’s lips curved into a faint smile. “Anywhere quiet. Maybe somewhere with mountains.”
The group fell silent for a moment, the honesty in Yoongi’s answer grounding them.
“Well, when you’re ready, hyung,” Taehyung said, breaking the stillness, “we’ll go with you. Right, guys?”
“Of course,” Namjoon said, smiling warmly.
“You’re not going anywhere without me,” Seokjin added.
Jimin didn’t say anything, but the silent promise in his eyes said enough.
The game continued, and the laughter grew louder with each turn.
“Seokjin-hyung,” Taehyung said, smirking. “Truth or dare?”
“Truth,” Seokjin replied confidently.
Taehyung grinned. “If you had to pick one of us to be your best man, who would it be?”
Seokjin groaned. “You’re trying to get me in trouble.”
“Just answer the question, hyung,” Taehyung pressed.
Seokjin sighed, glancing at Namjoon for a moment before smirking. “Obviously dad. But if I had to pick one of you kids, it’d be Taehyung—just to make Jungkook mad.”
“Yah!” Jungkook protested, throwing a stray blade of grass at Seokjin.
Taehyung grinned triumphantly while Jungkook sulked dramatically, eliciting laughter from everyone.
When it was Jimin’s turn, Taehyung grinned wickedly. “Jimin, truth or dare?”
“Dare,” Jimin said without hesitation.
“I dare you to serenade Yoongi-hyung,” Taehyung said, wiggling his eyebrows.
(a serenade is a musical greeting performed for a lover, friend, person of rank or other person to be honored)
Jimin’s eyes widened. “What? Why?”
“Because it’ll be cute,” Taehyung said, looking completely serious.
Yoongi groaned, covering his face. “I’m leaving.”
“Oh, no, you’re not,” Taehyung said, pulling him back down.
Jimin cleared his throat awkwardly, glancing at Yoongi, whose ears were starting to turn pink. Finally, Jimin sang a few lines of a soft, romantic ballad, his voice clear and melodic.
The others burst into cheers when he finished, clapping and teasing Yoongi, whose expression was a mix of flustered and annoyed.
“Was that really necessary?” Yoongi muttered, glaring at Taehyung.
“Absolutely,” Taehyung said, looking far too pleased with himself.
Jimin's POV
As the game wore on and the laughter echoed around the garden, Jimin found his gaze drifting to Yoongi. There was something about him—something quiet and guarded but undeniably compelling.
Jimin didn’t know exactly when his feelings had started, but he knew they ran deeper than simple admiration. Maybe it was the way Yoongi carried himself, with a mix of vulnerability and resilience that made Jimin want to protect him. Or maybe it was the rare glimpses of softness Yoongi allowed him to see, moments that felt like tiny treasures.
He remembered the first time he’d heard Seokjin talk about Yoongi. Days before he actually met yoongi. The day he met seokjin as a family for the first time.
Flashback
It was the day when their wedding was decided. And they were all gathered in the kim mansion celebrating it. It was on that day that they knew about the third kim brother, yoongi.
Much to their father's dismay, their mother had bought the topic in everyone's attention.
And soon the conversation was just between jimin nad seokjin as other went to have lunch, leaving both of them alone in the living room.
Now the curiosities of jimin would finally be answered.
“Yoongi’s… complicated,” Seokjin had said, his expression serious.
Jimin had tilted his head, curious. “Complicated how?”
Seokjin had sighed, running a hand through his hair. “He’s been through a lot. More than anyone should have to deal with. He doesn’t talk about it, and I don’t push him, but… he’s fragile in ways he won’t admit.”
Jimin had frowned, his heart aching at the thought. “He doesn’t seem fragile.”
“That’s because he hides it well,” Seokjin said. “But trust me, Jimin. If you’re going to get close to him, be careful. He’s not as tough as he looks.”
Flashback ends
Present
That day he got to know about yoongi for the first time and he made the resolution to be there for him.
Jimin’s resolve had only grown stronger since then. Yoongi might not let him in easily, but Jimin was determined to be there for him, no matter how long it took.
As the game began to wind down, the group slowly dispersed. Taehyung and Jungkook wandered off toward the woods, and Seokjin and Namjoon stayed behind, lost in quiet conversation.
Jimin found Yoongi sitting on the edge of the blanket, staring out at the horizon. He hesitated for a moment before sitting down beside him.
“You seemed happier today,” Jimin said softly, breaking the silence.
Yoongi glanced at him, his expression unreadable. “Maybe.”
Jimin smiled faintly, nudging Yoongi’s shoulder with his own. “It’s okay to be happy, you know.”
Yoongi didn’t respond, but his gaze softened, his usual guardedness slipping just a little.
“I mean it,” Jimin added, his voice gentle but firm. “You don’t have to carry everything alone, hyung. Not anymore.”
For a moment, Yoongi let himself believe that might be true.
