There was chaos all around. Media outlets were abuzz because Priyanka, a famous player, was not in the team. The last time she played, she scored a century against the Aussies, which helped India tie the match.
Now, during this series, she isn't among the 15 players or even on the bench. The media finally found some excitement after Virat joined the team, and they repeatedly broadcasted this exclusive news.
Some people claimed Virat was the sole reason for the change, while others were pleased that the board was now considering not only players' stats but also their behavior. Despite representing the Indian cricket team, some players were behaving in an unprofessional and hypocritical manner.
Social media is buzzing with Virat's welcome, with many expressing happiness, while others are trolling him severely.
However, the media has largely ignored Sammy, assuming she was just a random cricketer selected because Priyanka wasn't in the team. There are no photos of Sammy or her social media presence. The media and public are eagerly awaiting match day to see who
It's been a week since the team was announced. Everyone has been practicing hard, and for the first time, the selectors attended the practice sessions. They observed how the players, especially Samaira Sharma, were performing.
Bhatia was the one who closely watched her. After seeing her skills and shot selections, he believed she would become a significant name in the field. However, he then began playing dirty tricks.
He either avoided or strictly prohibited the cricketing media from covering the practice sessions. When asked for a reason, he weakly claimed he didn't want to give any advantage to the Australian team to prepare against them.
Shami was unhappy with this decision, but Virat merely smirked when he saw Bhatia's weak attempt at dirty politics against Sammy's career.
In the past week, Vamika completely avoided Sammy. They only communicated via texts and messages, while Aakaay barged into Sharma's place every day without any regard, which definitely irritated Abhishek.
The dynamic between Abhishek, Sammy, and Tilak changed drastically. Abhishek's words deeply hurt Sammy, and she tried to avoid him as much as possible. Soumya didn't express her feelings verbally, but she controlled herself whenever Abhishek was around. Essentially, Abhishek's words had a significant impact on their emotions.
The past week in Canada was quite eventful.
Rohit and Ritika were staying with their parents while Rey attended his classes via Zoom. The atmosphere became more normal for the Sharmas when they arrived.
Ritika was undergoing medication and her doctor was monitoring her closely. Initially, Ritika did not respond much to the doctor, but when the topic of ICT was brought up, she began to speak openly about her fears, past trauma, and the possibility of getting hurt again. During these sessions, she broke down and sobbed uncontrollably, emotionally and mentally exhausted from crying about her extended family and children. Despite this, she remained silent and unresponsive in the following session. They tried everything to help her, even calling Sammy, but Ritika still did not respond.
Meanwhile, Aakaay barged into the Sharma's home. While Sammy was on a call with her parents, she tried hard to make Ritika speak, but her efforts were in vain. Sammy pleaded:
"Mom, are you angry with me? Did I do something wrong? Please tell me, Mom, I'm really sorry. Can you please speak, Mom?"
Aakaay entered the room, hugged Sammy tightly from behind, and exclaimed, "Di, can you make my favorite Maggie, please?" When Sammy did not respond, Aakaay turned her around and saw that she was sobbing like a child, tears streaming down her face.
Aakaay asked, "Di, what happened? Why are you crying like this? Did someone said something to you? Tell me who I need to confront. Please speak up." He lifted her chin gently.
Sammy continued to sob and said, "Mom isn't speaking to me. She's completely silent, Akku. She isn't responding to anyone." She cried again.
Aakaay hugged her and patted her hair. Even though he didn't fully understand the situation, he felt a wave of emotion and a strong desire to help his sister. He carefully took her mobile and asked, "Can I try, Di? Just once, please?"
Sammy nodded and handed him the phone.
Aakaay : "Maa, Ritika Maa, aap sun rahi hain na? Main aapka chota beta Aakaay bol raha hoon. Aap mujhse baat nahi karengi? Haan, pata hai, kitna desperate tha main aapse baat karne ke liye. Main aapko surprise dene ke liye ek khoobsurat date plan kar raha tha aur maine ek list bhi banayi thi ki aapse kya-kya complain karni thi. Lekin nahi, pata nahi Bhagwan ko mere plan se kya problem thi. Matlab, meri planning ko bilkul kharaab kar diya. Haan... woh literally whining tha."
There was no response from the other side. Aakaay sighed in helplessness, his head hanging low with disappointment. He was about to return the mobile when they heard a voice:
Ritika: "My baby, my little prince, Aakaay, is that really you, Baba?" She spoke with an emotionally strained voice.
Aakaay: "Yes, Maa, that's me," he said, his voice trembling with various emotions. A sense of calm washed over him, and he began to understand why his sister had been so desperate to speak with these women.
Ritika: "How is my child? Don't you remember your elder mother? Do you know who I am? Your parents told you about us, didn't they?"
Tears flowed from Sammy's and Aakaay's eyes as he sobbed like a baby upon hearing her vulnerable voice and her desperate question.
On the other side, the doctor noticed a calmness surrounding Ritika as she started to respond. He quickly pressed the intercom button for Rohit. Within a minute, Rohit burst into the room and asked, "Doctor, is everything alright?"
Doctor: "Rohit, look, Ritika is responding. She is finally talking after a week."
Rohit: "Thank God," he said, tears of joy streaming down his face. "Maybe Sammy did this again."
Doctor: "You're misunderstanding, Rohit. This time, it's not Sammy. It's your extended family. Ritika is speaking to another child. Look, she's calling for you now. Go to her; she needs your support. After this call, we'll assess Ritika's progress and discuss the next steps for her treatment."
Rohit nodded and went inside, informing Rey to come to the hospital. The child had been unusually calm and silent, appearing traumatized, which made Rohit feel guilty as their problems seemed to be affecting his child's life. He entered the room and saw Ritika desperately asking, "Didn't they tell you about us?"
Ritika: "Come here. Do you know it's Aakaay, our little prince, with whom I'm talking? Come here."
Rohit side-hugged her, kissed her forehead, smiled, and then took the mobile, putting it on speaker. He signaled Ritika to talk.
Aakaay: "Yes, Maa. Dad and Mom always talked about you, especially Vami Di. Whenever she was with me for bedtime stories, she always mentioned you, your playdates, and even the rift scandal between Ro Papa and Dad. I know all about it." He spoke enthusiastically.
Ritika: "baccha, do you really know who we are? Haven't you ever wanted to meet us? Don't you remember us at all?"
Aakaay, being his usual self, spoke candidly.
Aakaay: "Maa, you're saying we didn't search for you? Oh God, Mumma, you don't know the chaos that happened here. Hardik Chachu messaged us at midnight saying he saw Sammy Di with someone at Jaipur Airport. We were like, 'What the heck?'
No one took it seriously at first, but Vami Di, Agastya Bhai, Dad, and Ziva Di, along with Shami Chachu, rushed to Jaipur that night. We almost reached the place where Chachu said Sammy Di was. When we got there, we found a different Sammy.
Bade Papa scolded Chachu from Ranchi, but Vami Di insisted that Chachu couldn't be wrong, especially when it involved his first niece. We were baffled,
but Vami Di said, 'Before we came, Jassi Chachu, Hardik Chachu, and Ishu Chachu were officially unadopted by Mumma Papa. They can't be wrong when it comes to their child.' Her words made everyone fall silent."
Ritsy: "Meri beti bahut badi ho gayi hogi na? Kitni pyaari hogi woh meri princess. Kahan hai woh, Akku?"
Aakaay: "Abhi woh ghar par hai, Mumma. Uske lectures hain aur agle hafte uski exams hain, isliye woh busy hai."
Ritika: "Usko meri taraf se 'all the best' kehna."
Aakaay: "Kya, Mumma? Kya aapka mujhe maarne ka plan hai? No way! Main nahi bolunga, woh mujhe kaccha chaba jaayegi. Jab se Sammy di se mili hai, unka kehna hai ki ro papa aur Ritsy Mumma se main pehle milunga. Samjhe? Usko yeh pata chala na, to uff!" (He ranted everything in one breath.)
Rohit and Ritika chuckled upon hearing him. "He's just like Nush," they said, both with happy tears in their eyes.
Ritika: "Accha, tujhe itna darr lagta hai, vami se hi? Woh to bachpan mein itni pyaari aur soft thi."
Aakaay: "Pyaari aur soft? Mumma, she's a mini version of Dad-just like him. You know, her Ben Stokes is also the same as Dad's."
Ritika and Rohit burst into laughter, rolling on the bed as they imagined Virat and Vamika saying "Ben Stokes" at the same time. They looked at each other and laughed even harder.
Aakaay was lost in their laughter.
Rohit noticed Ritika was getting tired and exhausted but still looked like a fresh flower while smiling. Rohit composed himself and said, "Okay, we need to talk with her now," signaling towards the doctor. Ritika simply nodded.
Ritika: "Accha, Akku, whenever you want to talk with us, you can crash at sammy's place or call us, okay, bubs?"
Aakaay: "Maa, isn't Papa with you? I want to talk with him. Isn't he there, or is he with Rey? Should I call him?"
Rohit raised his eyebrows in question and signaled Ritika to ask Aakaay how he knew about them. Meanwhile, Sammy facepalmed, realizing that Aakaay was revealing too much. She needed to take the mobile before it got worse.
He is sweet, Mum. Just like Papa. Aise Bade Papa ne kaha."
Ritika hummed and said, "Okay, Akku, I need to finish some errands. I'll talk to you later. Just don't tell Vami that you talked to me. Okay, bye, baccha." She immediately ended the call.
Rohit and Ritika both went to the doctor. The doctor immediately checked her vitals. Ritika was feeling exhausted and tired; she rested her head on Rohit's shoulder and said, "I'm so sleepy."
The doctor excused herself and said, "Make sure she sleeps comfortably, Rohit. I'll be waiting for you in the garden. Just ensure she gets some rest."
Rohit lifted Ritika into his arms and carried her to their room. He gently placed her on the bed, kissed her forehead, and started caressing her hair while humming a soft tune. As he did this, Ritika slept peacefully.
Rohit then took out his mobile and messaged Reyansh to come to his room. After that, he began to think about Aakaay and how he had revealed everything. He wondered if Aakaay had already met Sammy. If so, why hadn't Sammy and Tilak mentioned it to him? If Aakaay had barged into Sammy's place, it meant Abhi might have seen them. If his thoughts were correct, something was definitely wrong at Sammy's place.
He recalled how Tilak had avoided him during their video call yesterday, literally sprinting away after only a brief conversation. There had been no communication between Abhi, Sam, and Tilak since then, indicating that they had likely argued about it again. This was going to be a complete mess.
Reyansh entered the room, saw his dad, and sprinted towards him. "Papa, what happened to her? Why is she sleeping now? Please tell me, Papa."
Rohit said, "Rey, listen, it's just that Mumma got exhausted and tired and fell asleep. Can you do one thing for me, kiddo?" While gently caressing Reyansh's cheek, he continued, "Just stay by her side and make sure she gets enough rest. If she starts hyperventilating or anything unusual happens, call me right away, okay?"
Reyansh nodded and sat beside Ritika, gently caressing her hair.
Rohit then sprinted towards the garden, his mind a whirlwind of thoughts. He was concerned about Ritika's health, her second stage of depression, and her panic attacks. On the other hand, his little princess was set to play for India, hopefully succeeding in the series, though he worried about potential challenges she might face. There was also his unofficially adopted kid, Tilak who hadn't shared much with him about taking a break from ICT for six months because of his buddy's debut, which carried high safety risks. And then there was his own son, Rey, who was unaware of his father's troubled past and extended family, living what seemed like a fairytale life.
Lastly, there was his adopted kid, Abhi, who struggled to express his feelings and love, often resorting to anger, which had nearly cost him his partner, Nitya. Thankfully, Ritika, Sam, and Tilak had helped hold things together. With so many issues and problems weighing on him, and the haunting letter still on his mind, Rohit felt overwhelmed.
The doctor was observing the plants and humming a soft tune when Rohit approached her, lost in thought. When Dr. Vartika noticed him, she sighed in helplessness. This situation with Rohit had been recurring for the past 13 years. They would celebrate thinking everything was finally okay, only for problems to resurface, bringing them back to square one. Dr. Vartika saw him deep in thought and knew she needed to speak with him immediately.
Dr. Vartika said, "Rohit, how is Ritika now? Has she fallen asleep? The way she behaved today clearly shows that her depression is starting to take a significant toll. Something unusual happened today-someone from your extended family, someone from the past you were trying to escape, forced Ritika to talk. This is a major sign, Rohit. We definitely need to address it."
Rohit replied, "I don't understand, Vartika. What are you saying?"
Vartika responded, "I don't want to beat around the bush. Just stay calm and listen carefully. I know you both have been suffering for a long time, especially you and Ritika. While you've been managing, Ritika has been struggling.
but you were holding yourself at then end when you thought kii you were going in to hell that's a good point. But am not saying you are completely okay but still ritika se better ho tum but ritika she wasn't controlling herself she let herself to fall in that dark pitch jaha se laana ab mushkil hi nahi na mumkin hai
She's been falling into a dark place that's increasingly difficult to escape. She has started to accept and experience hallucinations related to her panic attacks, past incidents, or triggering moments.
You never know, the person she spoke with might have been a hallucination. After she wakes up, she might feel she was hallucinating about talking to that person. You can't be certain, Rohit."
Rohit: "What do you mean by hallucinations? Why didn't she tell me anything about this, Vartika? Did I fail as a best friend to Ritika, or even as a husband?"
Vartika: "I can't offer fake sympathy, Rohit. But let me be clear: you haven't failed. When you both arrived here, Ritika was behaving abnormally. I suspected that she might be entering a hallucinating stage, but I wanted to be certain. During our last session, I gently encouraged her to share her feelings, but she didn't. Eventually, I played soothing music to hypnotised her and there she spilled everything that music helped her open up. She revealed that after sending Sammy to Mumbai, everything started to take a toll on her. The letter pushed her limits further, leading to hallucinations. This situation is becoming dangerous for her health and could potentially lead to self-harm."
Rohit: So, what can we do now, Vartika? She isn't responding to treatment. How should we proceed? Should we start the sessions again or try something else?
Vartika: I am moving to India, Rohit. If you want to consult someone here or see another doctor, I can suggest a few options and explain Ritika's case to them, though it might not be very helpful. Also, you need to make some tough decisions now; it's all about Ritika's health.
Rohit: What do you mean by "brave decisions"?
Vartika: Look, Rohit, her vitals are dropping whenever she isn't responding. Her brain stops grasping her surroundings when she's lost in her thoughts, fears, and trauma. Everything is making it difficult for her. But today, when she spoke with your extended family, she immediately started responding. This means...
Either your extended family will help bring her back to reality or break her down. We can't hide from this any longer; Ritika needs to face them. This might be our only chance. Seeing Sammy in front of her might help her stay calm to some extent.
Vartika: We definitely need to take this chance, Rohit. We can't rely solely on sessions anymore; they aren't working. This is our only opportunity.
Rohit: I need some time, Vartika. This is a huge blow for us.
Vartika: I am moving to Mumbai, Rohit, for my career, but I can't leave you all alone in this situation. You weren't just my patients; you were like family to me. I can't leave you like this. So, I humbly request that you consider moving to Mumbai. I promise I will be there for you whenever you need me. Remember, hospitals can be traumatic environments for her. The best treatment might be at home or in a place with greenery, like a garden. Keep this in mind.
Rohit: Okay, Vartika, I'm going to let you know my decision soon. In the meantime, congratulations on your new opportunities.
Vartika: She nodded and gave him a side hug. "I know what you're feeling right now, Rohit, but remember one thing: while taking care of everyone, including Ritika, you can't ignore your own health. You haven't been taking your meds or attending sessions, but your vitals are still stable for now. That's why I haven't said anything, but given the current situation, I can tell you'll need me soon. My doors are always open for you, so don't stress yourself out. For now, I'm leaving. Please let me know your decision soon."
Rohit sat in the garden, lost in his thoughts, when his mobile rang. He saw the caller ID, composed himself, and immediately ran inside. He saw Ritika whispering something in her sleep, with sweat forming on his forehead. Rey was trying to calm her down. Rohit quickly sat beside her and began whispering sweet things to her.
Ritika calmed down almost instantly but woke up and mumbled, "Water." Rey quickly ran to get some.
Ritika: "Rohit, did you know I had a dream where I was talking to Akku? His voice was so soothing, just like Nush and Vi."
Rohit clenched his fists upon hearing the word "dream." The realization of how blurred the lines between reality and hallucination had become overwhelmed him. He wanted to scream and break everything in frustration. Instead, he composed himself, gave Ritika a side hug, and said:
Rohit: "Ritsy, it wasn't just a dream, baby. You really spoke with Aakaay. So, relax for now, and we'll talk more once you're feeling better."
Rey brought the water, and Rohit took the glass and helped Ritika drink it.
Rohit: "Ritsy and Rey, I've made a decision. We are moving to Mumbai, and you will continue your studies there. Ritsy, do you have any concerns?"
Ritsy: "I just want to be with Sammy, Rohit. I can't live my life without my child. She needs us, you know that, right?" She said in a faint, hoarse voice.
Rohit: "We're going to live there, Ritsy. Rey and Sammy will be with us, so don't worry. Just stay calm. Vartika is also moving there, so it's going to be a win-win situation for us."
Ritika nodded faintly and gave him a small smile. "I'm sleepy," she said. Rohit made sure she was comfortable and, once she fell asleep, went outside to inform Vartika that they would be moving to Mumbai.
The Sharmas are finally moving to Mumbai, where they once lost everything, including their family. They plan to relocate on the last day of the Indian-Australian series so as not to distract Sammy from the matches. Therefore, they haven't told anyone about their moving to Mumbai.
Present time...
Tomorrow is the match day, and Sammy has not received any call-up from the team.
Social media is buzzing with a mix of hate, love, and everything in between. Captain Kritika has warned everyone not to open social media until the series is over or until the coaches and team management give the go-ahead. Everyone has agreed to this.....
That's it for now.
This chapter was essential for the story. I hope you're not disappointed.
So, Ritika and Rohit have decided to move to Mumbai.
What are your thoughts on Ritika's health and Rohit's inner turmoil?
Next up will be Sammy's debut for the Indian team-🇮🇳🎀 for sure.
I hope you're enjoying the story.
