007. DEATH DO US PART

PAST 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆

▓*ੈ✩‧₊˚. . . . . Eveline walked out of a grocery store, after maxing her out her card on groceries and stuff to decorate for Halloween.

Her 18 year old brother despite his age honestly loved the holiday. Especially when going out with his friends, he acted so different and is more succumbed to peer pressure. It was amusing but he was still a teenager. Needed guidance.

Eveline on the other hand was in her early thirties, her teenage years have past long ago but she missed the freedom that it came with. Now she works a six am to three pm job, helping her parents with affording the house. She thought she'd be something by then but it wasn't the case. Having being a highschool graduate but a college drop out made her suffer more than ever. Being in student debt wasn't on her bucket lkst either. So she worked her ass off and saved some money every time she gets paid for her brother. To not be in debt like she was when he enters college.

She was grateful her parents to let her stay in the house. As long as she paid her portion of the rent. It was uncommon for anyone over the age of 30 to still live with their parents, but hers were in their 50 and 60s. Almost to retirement, she promised to take care of them and not put them in a retirement home.

Her phone vibrated in her pants as she was putting the groceries in her trunk. She held the phone and sees the name,
   Baby Brother.

She smiled eagerly and held the phone to her ear. "What's happening, Calvin Kline?" She heard him groan over the phone.

"Eveline, I don't even wear that brand. Why do you call me that?"

"Because," she stated as she closed her trunk. She laughed when making her way to the driver side of the car. Putting the key in the ignition and started the car. She puts the phone on speaker and dropped it in the cup holder. "Just imagine how fun it would be? And besides, I like the brand- even though it's expensive as hell." She admitted as she reversed, making her way back home.

"Whatever- anyway," Daniel brushed off. "So I kinda asked a girl out and she responded with 'wtv' when I said where she wants to eat. Do you know what that means?"

"My goodness Daniel," She said suprised as she continued on the road. How she was years older and understood slang better than him was beyond her. "It means whatever."

"Oh... I thought it meant with the vape. That would have been awkward, and it doesn't even make sense..."

She smacked her lips. "I guess I'll teach you slang when I get home- oh I got you some decorations we can put up for Halloween around the house. How's that sound?"

"Uh yes! Mom and dad are asleep right now. You better hurry up and get here before they wake. You know how grumpy they get."

"I know, I know. I'm almost there." They then had nothing else to talk about so Eveline whistled as a signal. "Okey dokey, gotta drive. Love you."

   "Bye, Danielle, love you too."

He said before quickly ending the call. It was a nickname he gave her. Since his freinds always compared his older sister as a look alike female to his male counterpart. Amusing to her but was slightly weird out by his freinds. It was almost his birthday as well so she was gonna suprise him with his favorite candy. A bucket filled with all types of nougats.

After a 10 minute drive she made it to her house and honks her horn. She got his present first and saw him opening the door from the house. He waved and so did she. "Got you something!" Eveline yelled across the front yard.

"What is it!?" She observed him, finding he wore a dark blue flannel with a sky blue shirt underneath. His smile radiates an empty and dark room, it waa like heaven. His was so precious, and especially sinces he's her only sibling it made her feel more protective over him. Even with her powers she kept hidden from her brother but not her parents they knew but he never did. She's planned to tell him on his birthday.

"It's nougat, your fav-" Right as she talked something flew by and red streaks hit her house which was soon followed by an explosion from it that threw her and Daniel away.

Debris started to fall. Her head was pounding, she felt her head and found blood on her fingertips. Too much happened in a span of seconds. Everything around her was destroyed and her house was disintegrated, gone to atoms. "Mom!? Dad!?" Eveline yelled with a hoarse voice. Her mind hazy and and her weight was too much as she slipped continously when getting closer. She painfully got up and stumbled to the house that was on fire. She couldn't continue on as the house was emitting deathly temperatures. "Mom! Dad!" She yelled out once more, desperate this time.

Are they dead? No they couldn't be, they couldn't be, they couldn't be-

"Eveline?" A painful voice grunts out from behind her. She turns and sees Daniel standing up, dazed out with a rod that went straight through his chest, right where his heart was.

"Oh my god-" She desperately ran towards him as he fell over himself. She catched and held him close to her chest. Soothing his hair. "You're going to be okay, I'm gonna help you-"

Eveline had recently discovered that she was able to heal others but at a price. If the damage was too severe and she tried to heal them, it could potentially take her whole life but it didn't matter if it did. This was her brother. She placed her hand over his heart ready to heal him and make the rod turn to dust but his bloody shaking hand gripped her wrist.

She looked to his eyes and gawked at him in confusion. "What are doing?"

"...I know." He said through a series of coughs.

   She scrunched her eyes. "What?"

"Your powers...I know." He said as his head lulled back, his voice became sluggish, as he no longer puts effort into holding his own head. Eveline puts a hand under and held it for him.

She ferociously shook her head. "That doesn't matter right now, I need to help you-"

As she was about to use her powers, Daniel's hand around her wrist stopped her. His brown eyes stared deeply into hers. "I know that if you do, it'll kill you."

This was her only choice. "I don't care- stop fighting me. I'm-"

"Please, it's alright." Daniel smiled then almost went limp when he suddenly got a surge of energy. His eyes went wide and were with more tears. His grip on her became more harsh. "I'm scared." He finally admitted on the brink of death.

She poured out her soul as she held onto his hand, looking at the small rod still embedded into his heart. This excessive damage would surely kill her if she did help and it hurts her that she couldn't. She forced a smile through their pain and rubbed his head, running her hand through his hair. "It's okay-"

She had ease his pain and it was gonna hurt her so much. "It's gonna be okay Daniel. I got you."

He seemed he knew what she was referring to and smiled as he closed his eyes in pain. "I love you Eve." He said, then he started to gurgle on his blood, his breathing erratic as he could no longer speak. His eyes wide as he looked at her in fear.

She raised her hand and aimed it near his temple. She couldn't see him in pain anymore. Her hand emitted red as she spoke her next words. "You can rest now...sleep." At that Daniel automatically closed his eyes and his hand that gripped her wrist fell beside him. His breathing stopped as his face went neutral. She stared at his lifeless body as everything around continued to burn. It didn't matter to her.

She heard someone land on the ground near her. She looked up to see who it was.

   It was Homelander.

She gripped her brothers body close to her chest and pleaded to the supe. "Help me please!"

Homelander turned his head and looked at her with ridicule. He shook his head as he lazily flings his arm in her direction. "He's dead already, might as well start preparing his funeral."

"What?" Who's this Homelander? This isn't the one she saw on tv. He helps, he care about everyone...who was he now. She stammered over her words, suprised at his change of heart. "This is your fault! You did this to our house! You killed them!" Tears spewed out of her eyes when she spoke her last words, her voice squeaked tremendously.

Homelander shuttered his teeth and shrugged his shoulders as he held his hands behind his cape. "Oopsie?" He said with no guilt behind his breath.

She gasped as she held her anger behind her eyes. Knowing if she let it fully out, he'd find out she was a supe. She was excited at first if the man ever found out but with how he entered her unfortunate situation proved he wasnt what many said he was. "What's wrong with you?-" she said through a series of hiccups. "you know what I'll just go the authorities-"

Homelander's weeze halts her ranting. She watched as he laughed to the sky and stalked close to her. Sneering at her threat. "No one's gonna fucking believe you anyway. You're just a random civilian." He found this amusing, and it honestly pissed her off.

"You can't stop me." He honestly couldn't, she compared her powers to his and she quite literally overpowered him in most areas. But she was a human right now in his eyes and if she did use it against him, possibly more people might die as collateral damage. She couldn't handle that, she had enough as it is.

"Oh I think I can sweetheart," He sprays his arms out, in resemblance of wings then pointed to his chest. "because I'm the Homelander."

   "Homelander!"

Multiple voices screeched out as everyone started to run to them seeing the chaos miles away. Eveline's vision became barely clear and found that it was reporters and people nearby that survived the after shock that came running to his feet.

Homelander's intense starring at Eveline switched to a mournfully and teary expression. He fastly put his red gloved hand on his hip and his other to his mouth and closed his eyes. Turning to the reporters, he looked down in devastation.

"Homelander did you catch the terrorist?"

"Are you okay?"

"Did you save that woman?"

Numerous questions came out at once. Eveline watched, fuming with anger at the supes change of emotions. Did she really have it so wrong? Supe were actually assholes who didn't care about collateral damage? She looked back to Daniel who eyes remained open, looking at the sky. Life was no longer in them, his pupils dilated.

"It's devastating, the man that did- sorry" Homelander sucked in a breath and then began talking again but more in a determined voice. "The terrorist that did this is no American, trust me. An American wouldn't do this to their own kind. I will find him and give this young woman the closure she needs." He pointed to Eveline. Who in the reporters eyes was a civilian who lost her family by the terrorist not by who actually did it.

She saw a shadow loom over her and found Homelander. Following his hand as he placed it on her shoulder, gripping it as if he knew pictures would arise from it. He looked into her eyes. His eyes brim with tears but as she stared into his eyes, she only saw an emotionless man who didn't care about her families death at all.

"I will find who did this, you have my word." He really did lie to her face. Her killer was right in front of her and she couldn't do anything because of who he was. So all she did was cry even more and hugged her brothers dead body.

Homelander stares emotionless at her, knowing the people couldn't see but when he turned around it completely changed again. "Come on guys, let's give her privacy, be more respectful."

As he left with the people, she wasn't as hopeless as she was before. She caressed her brothers hair and watched as a tear fell on his cheek. "He'll pay Daniel, I promise." She rocked his body back and forth in her arms, just wanting to be with him for the last time.

Homelander no doubt heard her and gave a sly, creepy smile, quick enough to be not be noticeable. He'll just have to lazer her whenever she poses a threat to him, not now. This was a waste of his time, if it wasn't for the woman, the terrorist wouldn't have disappeared. She was a human anyway. He'll forget about her in a couple of days when he kills her.

Though it proved rather difficult for him in the long run...

AN - Sorry it's short, but just wanted to get out what happened to her brother, following her panic attack in the last chapter. Especially they were collateral damage similar to Hughie's situation back in season 1
