      004. PUSHED TO THE LIMIT

。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ pushed to the limit
A year after first encounter, past

▓*ੈ✩‧₊˚. . . . . Another fight, another wrath raging Homelander.

Eveline absorbed his lazer eyes along her body like nothing. The holes they made were quickly regenerated as if they weren't there. She staggered a bit as she waited for the pain to subside and it quickly disappeared.

She huffed as she eyed down a bloodied Homelander who stood a few feet away. He laughed with his sinister voice as the blood on his face entered his mouth. "Why do keep doing this?" He asked, ridiculing her.

His teammates stood on stand by, pain was evident by how they held themselves after fighting her profusely. They wanted to be done. They knew they couldn't win against her but Homelander didn't let them leave. They waited for Homelander to tell them their next move; Translucent, Black Noir, Queen Maeve, The Deep, Lamplighter, and A-Train.

She sighed as she cracked her neck in place languidly. Homelander eyed her every move. "I've told you. I have reasons and besides, you all can get money profiting on future movies about our interactions. I mean that's what you do anyways, right?" She lowered her head menacingly, staring Homelander down. "You profit off the poor."

Homelander took in her response. He smacked his lips and pointed at her, laughing. No teammate reacted, they only took a step back in fear of what he would do next. His looked at them and groaned with annoyance. He rolled his eyes and walked slowly to her, meeting her halfway on the deserted road by pedestrians. His blue cape swayed back and forth while he held his red gloved hands behind his back.

Finally making it her. He towered over her a few inches. He took her appearance in. How her hair went surprisingly well with the specks of blood that littered her. On her body and her clothes. With a darkly tight smile he lavished her physique.

While she stood her ground, staring back at him with distaste. How he showed no shame in his starring angered more than she already was.

After an eerie staredown, he spoke. "Why don't you join us," He says loudly, letting him teammates hear him. The next word he whispered, was only audible to her. His red eyes faded away as his original blue ones looks into her eyes.

   "Join me." He said lowly.

She stared right back at him with her hazel eyes. She was confused at his massive turn in emotion. And how dare he ask her to join his crumbling group, when he was the reason she is what she's like now. She scoffed. "What?"

"What are you doing Homelander?" The Deep asked. Appalled at Homelander's negotiation. He struts his way to where Homelander stood.

Homelander turned his head so fast, a normal human may have gotten whiplash. He held a gloved finger at him. "Not now Deep."

Hearing A-Trains scoff, made Homelander look down. "Homelander she's a fucking terrorist, for once I agree with deep. The hell you doing?"

Homelander gave a loud sigh as he connected his eyes with Eveline. "Teammates am I right?" He sarcastically said to Eveline. She only glared which made him huff in disappointment.

He turned, and left his back exposed to Eveline. She raised a eyebrow as to why he'd just be so open like that. He trusted her enough? Was he not afraid? Even still, she'd wouldn't striked her enemies without them knowing. And it seemed he knew and took advantage of it. She wanted to see the light come out of his eyes and she couldn't do this with his back facing her.

Homelander liked the position he was in. Facing his teammates, with her on his side. He imagined he could anything with her and her astonishing powers. He could kill his teammates and keep her all to himself but where was the fun in that? And besides, he didn't want the American people to think of him differently, he wanted them to love him. And what a better way to do that then to convince a supe terrorist to change their ways and be on his side. No one else's. If he could change a terrorist, a woman at that, they'd believe anything that came out from his star spangled mouth. If they hadn't  already.

"Would anyone else like to fucking speak and say their piece?" Homelander commanded with rage sizzling on the tip of his tongue.

A hooded teammate named, Lamplighter raied his hand sluggishly. "I think we should just fucking kill her. Why are we even negotiating with the likes of her? Should of killed her when you first saw her."

Translucent also had something to say. His costume was the only thing making his presence known. "I mean we can profit off her." He expanded on her previous statement about them.

Homelander face became enraged and Maeve noticed this. "Look-" Queen Maeve quickly butted in. She crossed her arms and stood her ground. "It's clear Homelander finds her a benefit to us."

    Absolutely not.

She was only a benefit him and him only.

"We should just listen to him and see what comes out of this situation." She finished.

Homelander gave her a lovingly smile as he tilted his head. "Thank you Maeve. Always know what to say."

She grimaced lightly and looked down. "Yeah..."

Homelander then looked at his teammates silently and spoke again. "Translucent, Deep. Go back to the tower. I don't need you as of right now."

As they were arguing, Eveline quietly walked backward. Putting space between her and Homelander.

"What!?" The Deep exclaimed. "But I can help-"

"No," Homelander said in a way as if he caught someone in lie. He walked back to his team and spoke. "You can't. You're a fish boy, the best thing you do is fucking shamu."

The Deep seemed sadden by Homelander's response. He looked down and took a step back.

Homelader closed his eyes and turned to A-Train. "Take them back and bring you know who. Clearly this shit show isn't going anywhere."

At that, A-Train left, taking Translucent and The Deep with him.

With Black Noir, Queen Maeve and Lamplighter left idle in front of him. He turned and faced Eveline once more. Smiled with his lips tight to its ends. "Have you decided?" He questioned.

After all that, he really thought she would agree. He wasted his time and hers. She sneered at him. "No." She stated plainly.

He looked at his feet and sighed. Wiping away a few speacks of blood from his eyes, he responded. "I was hoping it wouldn't come to this." He'd just have to keep fighting her until she complied. Get her to her last breath to plead to him.

He shrugged his shoulders, relaxing them. Without looking back to his teammates, he spoke. "Noir."

Blades came rapidly in her direction. She turned and stopped them midair right as they almost connected to her eyes. With her glowing red hands, she threw them back at him with her powers. With vigor. One embedded in his leg and the other in his shoulder. It didn't bother him as he ran towards her. Growing tried of him, she threw him back with a blast of power. It staggered him, so she raised both her hands an found a nearby car. She grunts with effort as she slammed it on his body and left it.

She then felt the presence of another coming at her. She reached out just in time and grabbed the wrist that came flying at her from her side. She slowly turned her head and found Queen Maeve trying to get out of her grasp. "I learned the first time." Eveline told her. Eveline reached and put a gentle hand on Maeve's head. Her fight wasn't with her even though she wanted to kill her too.

In due time she would but for now. Homelander was her priority.

"Sleep." She said. Hypnotizing Maeve with her powers as they transfered along her head. Much a siren would to a sailor. Maeve quickly closed her eyes and slumped. Eveline catched her gently placed her on the ground.

Her slight affection gave her a disadvantage. Lamplighter then came next and raised his hand with his lighter. He spewed relentless fire at her. It burned her forearm which caused her skin going red and burning. She groaned and faced him. She raised her hand screamed with anger. Her eyes remained the crimson color they still were as her visible red powers latched on to his forearm. With her other hand, she acted out as if she broke stick downward. His arm that held the lighter broke at the elbow right as she did this. His white bone protruded out of his forearm. Bloo spewed relentlessly.

Lamplighter screamed in agony and fell to his knees as he clamped his arm. He was a loss cause. Eveline scoffed at the so called heros of America. She then faced the last supe, Homelander.

He smiled and clapped slowly. He then adjusted his blue cape behind him with ease. "I knew you'd beat them." He admitted. Homelander runs a hand through  his blonde hair, the blood tainting it more. "Just had to keep you occupied." He confessed.

She was utterly confused. Did he really send his teammates to their almost definite death, if hadn't ed back? She lets her gaurd down and her red mystic powers diminised. "What do you mean-" Hearing the wind bend, she knew A-Train had returned but with someone new. Though he was too quick for her to react in time.

She gasped as she felt someone from behind, grabbed her head and made her relieve something she didn't want. Seeing her family dying over and over again was too painful. Seeing her brother burned and screaming in pain haunted her deeply. Her heart began to swell with emotion, her powers as well. It was too overwhelming.

Homelander watched as Mesmer brought her to her knees. Her eyes glazed over as she was in another dimension within in her own soul. Her tears fell on her delicate skin. He sighed as he walked to her and Mesmer. "A-Train, help Noir." He said absentmindedly.

   A-Train nodded and walked away.

He lifted a strand of her reddish Burnette hair and lightly tugged on it. Then wiped her tears away. "Why do you makes things so difficult..." He murmured.

He groaned and looked up to the sky. He shooked his head in disappointment. "Mesmer." He then said, looking back to his troubled frame.

"Uh," Mesmer timidly kept his hands on her head. Seeing what she was reliving. He began to shake as he experienced what she was. With his eyes closed he responded."ye- yes Homelander?"

   "What's her name?"

"Her name?" He repeated, his voice drifting away as he continued to see her memory. Hearing screams calling out to her, he finally heard her name...

   Eveline.

   "Her name's Eveline." Mesmer announced.

"Eveline..." Homelander drifted off. He finally had a name to the mysterious woman he became engrossed with, within the past months. He repeated her name lowly, daydreaming his own fantasies with her.

Mesmer began to feel something off within her. It felt like something was boiling up and it was ready to explode massively. He knew it wasn't the memory, for it had came from her soul. He didn't know why he knew but it was concering. "Uh, Homelander. I think-"

"Homelander!" A-Train said at the same time as Mesmer. "Noir isn't responding."

Homelander daydreaming ended and he grew frustrated. He turned back to A-Train. "Not my fucking problem right now." He said with haste.

"Homelander-" Mesmer pleaded with more emotion but A-Train spoke over him again.

"And Maeve. Gotta get them out of the open before people see." He insisted.

Homelander growled and waved him off. "Then you fucking do it. God," Homelander trailed off. "you run off your mouth more than your weight."

A-Train said nothing. He shook his head and took them both away, top speed.

"Homelander!" Mesmer finally yelled. He opened his eyes and fear struck through them. He began walking backwards, letting go of her head.

She slump forward, getting on all fours. It seemed as if she was going to throwing up.

Homelander's eyes widen at Mesmer's disobedience towards him. Who'd dare raise their voice to Homelander? He turns as his eyes glow red. "The fuck did you-"

A mournful scream came out of Eveline, stopping them both. A surge of red came out of her chest, streaks of red striked everything. It flowed and grabbed onto things as a leeche would do to skin.

Her eyes went darker than a crimson red. She stood on her knees and screamed towards the sky. Damaging everything around her. It threw Homelander and Mesmer miles away from her. A-Train, Black Noir and Queen Maeve were long gone when this occurred.

It remained dormant until she disappeared as a last resort. When she travel, she didn't know where she would end up. She just pleaded with her own mind to get her out of there. Her skin began to get cut in pieces as she traveled through the dimension between. Her face fueled with abrasions and blood poured out of her nose.

Finally she felt herself fall on grass. With her eyes closed she listened to her surroundings. Birds chirping, sounds of waved hitting the shore. And her face felt warm from radiating heat. She opened her eyes and found herself on a cliff in the middle of nowhere.

She struggled to stand and remained on the short grass, it felt mossy as she laid upon it. She felt weak, faint. Her regeneration wasn't working this time for some reason. She finally felt pain, remorseful and physical pain in years. It relieved her as much as it pained her.

She cried as she looked onto the horizon past the waves of the ocean. Pouring out her soul to the voiceless nature, earth bestowed upon her. She raised her hands to see her finger tips growing more dark than they were before. It looked as if frostbite took over.

Her brother, her family. Why did life treat her this way. She only wanted to avenge her family. Why did it always favor the damned?

She had to take time off her vengeance to heal properly. Her powers weren't working as they should. Especially since she teleported as a last resort. She hadn't gotten it down right, her previous effort that wasn't life threatening. Proved it was a power that took too much effort and her life as well.

Eveline smiled through the pain that banged along her skin. The natural smell earth gave reminded her that it was going to be okay.

She was going to be okay.

And she'll come back more powerful than ever. To get rid of Homelander once and for all.
