Chapter 53
Wednesday 8 days for the Full Moon Festival
Yesterday, Wei Ying had handed his ring back to Lan Zhan for safe keeping.
"I want to start wearing it from the day of our wedding." He said, feeling a little bit shy about saying that.
Luckily Lan Zhan understood but then he wondered about how to show others that Wei Ying was taken. He loved the design of the cherry blossoms and thought hard, while tucking the rings away in his pocket. He would put them away in a secret safe back at the mansion later.
This problem stayed with him though...and he let his mind mull over the solution by itself while he concentrated on Wei Ying.
"So...we are engaged now." Lan Zhan said.
"Yes, we are!" Wei Ying threw his arms around Lan Zhan’s neck once more, giggling with delight. "Isn't it exciting, my love?"
"Mn. When shall we tell people?"
That was a concern.
"Well...we have to tell immediate family straight away." Wei Ying said, thoughtfully. He imagined Wen Qing and Wen Ning's faces when he told them.
When they told them.
He was part of a couple now and he had to get used to doing things together. Which felt unusually nice, like he had back up whenever he needed it.
So they decided on today.
Wednesday felt like a nice day to break the news to everyone and since they had to meet with Xiao XingChen and Song Lan in the morning, they thought the afternoon should be reserved for their good news.
Lan Zhan wanted to take the children out for dinner and make it a special occasion. Wei Ying was too happy to care.
Tuesday was a roller coaster day for him and his emotions had swung all over the place like a broken pendulum. It had left him exhausted and if they were forced to admit it, not much work was done yesterday.
Wei Ying didn’t mind so much because aside from the constant jobs popping up out of nowhere, the only big things left to complete were the dining room, the stairs which were mostly done and the passageway upstairs along with the hallway downstairs.
And of course, Wei Ying’s surprise for Lan Zhan, which he hoped would be completed by Friday.
Lan Zhan slept like the dead, Wei Ying had found out.
He had explained that before Wei Ying began sharing a bed, he used to sleep on his back with his hands folded across his chest. Wei Ying had revealed that a starfish best described his sleeping position, and that starfish was very active.
And yet, now that they had gotten used to sleeping together, neither could sleep alone. Added to that was the fact that naturally, they drifted towards each other if they weren't already lying in some kind of an embrace.
Right now, Wei Ying was being nuzzled awake.
His eyes weren't yet open, but his delightful mouth smiled in anticipation. Lan Zhan was kissing under his jaw, nipping at the soft, silky skin where his delectable scent of lotus flowers was the strongest.
"I love you so much..." Wei Ying said as Lan Zhan began a tour of worshipping his face with his lips.
Lan Zhan paused.
"As I love Wei Ying." His deep voice sent tremors down Wei Ying’s back, as his fingers tugged on Lan Zhan’s hair.
This gradual stirring awake was delicious in its time taking, a slow beginning to another beautiful day.
Today was the day.
Wei Ying was a little bit worried. He wasn't sure how everyone would react to their news, and he hoped for favourable responses. Lan Zhan said they should tell Uncle Qiren first followed by XiChen. Then in the afternoon, they could tell the Wen Siblings and lastly, their children in the evening.
After breakfast, they returned from dropping off A-Yu at school to find the lawyers already waiting for them in the study. Uncle Qiren brought A-Yuan there too, having explained to him that the adults would be talking and he needed to make the least noise. However, if he had a question, he could whisper it in Uncle Qiren’s ear, and Uncle Qiren promised he would answer.
Mr. Marshmallow also decided to join them. Today his favourite person was A-Yuan, curling protectively around the little boy while he kept himself busy with an alphabet colouring book. Mr. Marshmallow had tickled A-Yuan under his chin, eliciting a chortling giggle, and everyone had smiled at them then.
They sat around the room, Wei Ying right next to Lan Zhan, still puzzled as to why the lawyers wanted to meet with him anyway. XiChen sat on their left and Uncle Qiren was opposite with A-Yuan at his feet, colouring on a small coffee table. The lawyers had pushed two coffee tables together and were drowning in paper work.
"Is everything going smoothly with Mo XuanYu's adoption process?" Lan Zhan asked.
"Yes. The fact that his father had tried to harm him in a public place, plus all the photos you submitted with his injuries...everything is helping. But bureaucracy is the most hindrance we are facing at the moment. It will take another few months for all the forms to be filled out, and for us to satisfy their questions as to your legibility as a parent." Xiao XingChen said.
"It helps that you are in a relationship." Song Lan added.
Wei Ying nodded at Lan Zhan’s burning gaze, to which he addressed the whole room.
"Actually, Wei Ying and I have an announcement to make."
They were already holding hands, and Wei Ying squeezed their connection. He smiled into amber eyes that were brimming with happiness, and Wei Ying knew that his own face was hopefully reflecting the same joy.
"We have agreed to marry, thus we are engaged now." He finished, bringing their joined hands up to his lips and kissing Wei Ying’s hand.
"Congratulations, Didi!" XiChen stood up immediately to come and hug both of them.
"Thank you, XiChen-Ge." Wei Ying said as he was enveloped in a bone-crushing hug.
"I am so very happy for you both. This is the best news of today." XiChen declared. "When are you thinking of having the wedding?"
"We have not decided on anything yet, Xiongzhang." Lan Zhan said calmly. "We are taking everything slowly."
"May I help in the planning process?" XiChen asked.
"I don't see why not..." Wei Ying said, at the same time as Lan Zhan replied, "thank you, we will ask for help when we need it."
Both Wei Ying and XiChen stared at him, because this was not at all like Lan Zhan to be this blunt as to come across as being rude.
"I already have an idea of what I want." He added.
"You do?" Squeaked Wei Ying, who hadn't even thought about anything yet.
"Mn, and it is a surprise for my husband-to-be." Lan Zhan looked very determined.
Wei Ying glanced at a now slightly sulky older brother and shrugged. If he had to pick which brother to keep happy, it was going to be Lan Zhan hands down, every single time.
"Nevermind, XiChen-Ge...maybe you can save your expertise for your own wedding?" Wei Ying encouraged with a bright smile.
"XiChen?" Uncle Qiren said from behind them. "When are you getting married?"
Xiao XingChen cleared his throat rather noisily.
Everyone turned to him in surprise and he wondered if they had forgotten he and Song Lan were there.
"Congratulations on your good news." He said politely to both Wei Ying and Lan Zhan. "That may speed up Mo XuanYu's adoption. Child protection agencies prefer married spouses to single parent families. I shall make the necessary arrangements. However, while we are doing our best on several cases regarding your family, we have asked for a meeting today because we have been successful in locating a trust fund which now belongs to Wei WuXian."
"W-what?" Wei Ying asked, now bewildered. "What are you talking about?"
"Your parents had taken out a life insurance policy on themselves, but they had been putting every spare dollar into a trust fund in your name as well. When they passed away, the money went into that account automatically. You are now the proud inheritor of several million dollars." Xiao XingChen smiled at the expression on Wei Ying’s face.
"How did you know to look?" He asked, uncertainly. "I mean...it's all a bit sudden...isn't it?"
"Actually, you should thank Lan Qiren here. He asked us to look into it." Xiao XingChen gave Wei Ying a small smile, one of satisfaction at having done a job well.
Wei Ying went over to Uncle Qiren and threw himself into the older man's arms.
"Thank you for looking out for me." He sobbed.
Uncle Qiren patted his back warmly.
"Welcome to our family. And there is no need for thanks. We look after our own. I knew your parents...I know how much they loved you...they wouldn't have left you without securing some sort of future for you."
While all this was going on, A-Yuan had been watching them and trying to figure out why his Baba was crying. He didn't look unhappy...but A-Yuan couldn't understand exactly. He looked around and saw the other person who was just like his Baba, and he crawled over to Lan Zhan and hugged his leg.
"Pwetty Gege...why is Baba cwying? Is he thad?" He looked up at Lan Zhan, who immediately swung him up into his arms.
Wei Ying left Uncle Qiren then and went to his son.
"A-Yuan...I think you shouldn't call Pwetty Gege, Pwetty Gege now." He said, looking at both of them.
Lan Zhan understood immediately what he meant, and there were tears in his eyes.
"You should call Pwetty Gege A-Die now." Wei Ying finished, wiping his own face on the sleeves of his shirt.
"Pwetty Gege is A-Die?" A-Yuan asked, now looking at Lan Zhan.
Lan Zhan kissed his forehead warmly.
"Would you like that, A-Yuan?" He asked.
Wei Ying had never seen him look so soft before.
A-Yuan nodded, not really understanding what that meant, but it seemed to make everyone really happy. Lan Zhan hugged him tightly and A-Yuan liked that too.
Wei Ying kissed his chubby cheeks and they sat down again.
"There are some papers to sign." Xiao XingChen was saying.
"And we have some suggestions for how to invest your money. If you do this wisely, you will be able to live quite comfortably off just the interest the lump sum will generate." Song Lan added.
Wei Ying was nodding along, but in reality, nothing was being processed yet. It was a bit of a shock suddenly learning that he had lots of money now.
Wasn't it only yesterday that he had been lamenting the lack of funds in his bank account? And look at that, the Universe had listened.
"I can't believe it." Wei Ying said, at last. "All I've ever really wanted to do was buy A-Yuan a paddling pool. My mind is kind of stuck on that." He laughed softly.
"Wei Ying will be able to buy him lots of paddling pools now." Lan Zhan encouraged him, smiling at the dazed look in his eyes.
"He doesn't need that now..." Wei Ying replied, suddenly realising why Lan Zhan had built two swimming pools behind his house. "Is that why...I remember telling you about that, my love. Is that the reason there's two swimming pools?"
He thought back to what A-Yu had said, quoting his mother. Actions did speak louder than words...and Lan Zhan, with every attention to detail, was telling him how much he loved him...and A-Yuan and A-Yu, now.
Lan Zhan’s ears were red and giving him away, while he remained silent.
Wei Ying leaned over and whispered in his ear, "I have another gift for you later..." He waggled his eyebrows suggestively and Lan Zhan’s whole ears went red.
"Pwesent?" A-Yuan asked in a loud voice. "What pwesent?"
Wei Ying blushed redder than a ripe strawberry. He pulled out a carrot stick packet from his pocket and successfully distracted A-Yuan from asking any more embarrassing questions.
"We should hold a party." XiChen said, enthusiastically. "Surely I can organise that?" He sounded so hopeful that even Lan Zhan caved.
"We could combine that with the housewarming party..." Wei Ying suggested. "Two birds, one stone sort of thing..."
"That's a great idea. We can get everyone involved! You won't have to lift a finger." XiChen promised.
Lan Zhan threw him a warning look. XiChen was pushing his agenda when he thought Lan Zhan was distracted enough by the warm bundle of love in his hands, but the truth was, Lan Zhan hated socialising.
Thankfully, Wei Ying was oblivious to their private communication. He had something else on his mind.
"XiChen-Ge...thank you for buying the ring yesterday...it means a lot..."
"No need. As Uncle said, we look out for our own. And welcome to our family." XiChen told him warmly.
He only had to look at the happiness on his brother's face to know that this was the right step for both of them.
"On Sunday, how about we make the moon cakes for the festival in the morning and hold the party in the afternoon?" He suggested. "Will the house be ready?" He caught the worried look on Wei Ying’s face.
Wei Ying wasn't concerned about anything except the surprise he had planned for Lan Zhan; what if someone accidentally entered and then told him, or worse, if Lan Zhan saw it before it was ready? If they had the party on Sunday, that meant he only had Thursday and Friday to finish it...and it might be doable.
So he plastered on a smile and agreed.
When Lan Zhan’s arm came around his waist and he felt a kiss on the top of his head, he knew everything would be okay.
*******
The Universe was really on Wei Ying’s side today, he thought as he ended the call to Wen Qing. She was free that afternoon and bizarrely, so was Wen Ning. They were both coming over in about an hour.
XiChen was already in the kitchen baking something that smelled heavenly. Wei Ying was playing hide and seek in the library with A-Yuan and Lan Zhan was just going to join them when his Uncle stopped him.
"WangJi...a word?"
Lan Zhan turned around.
For the first time in a long while, he noticed the deepened wrinkles on his uncle's face, the pronounced crow's feet at the corners of his eyes and his papery skin.
When had that happened?
Lan Zhan was right here...and yet, somehow Uncle Qiren had aged before his eyes.
"Mn?" He asked, because Uncle Qiren was still staring at him.
It was a measuring look, as if he was looking for something.
"Are you happy, WangJi?" He asked, quietly.
"Yes, Shifu. I am." He admitted.
Perhaps it was also somewhat of a revelation to himself too.
He was happy and it was a bubbling feeling. The warmth in his chest was constant now, proof that he was capable of loving someone through and through.
"Very well then. Look after them well." Uncle Qiren turned back to his book.
It was a dismissal...but one with approval.
Lan Zhan smiled and decided not to answer.
That he would look after all of his family, extended and otherwise, was a given, and there was no need to say anything more.
He opened the door to the library and found a heap of pillows on the floor and chubby legs sticking out, with a prowling Wei Ying ready to pounce. He beamed at Lan Zhan, turning up the wattage to blinding and holding a finger to his lips for Lan Zhan to keep quiet.
The suspense was getting to A-Yuan who was audibly trying to suppress giggles.
Wei Ying grabbed his feet with a "gotchya!" And began tickling him mercilessly. Poor A-Yuan was no match for Wei Ying in such a playful mood and his laughter had him catching his breath as he giggled helplessly.
It was such a lovely sound that Lan Zhan found himself smiling broadly too.
"A-Die!" A-Yuan cried upon seeing him, and quickly crawled into his lap for protection.
Lan Zhan swung him up into his arms and Wei Ying chased them around the large room until Lan Zhan climbed on a chair and held A-Yuan right up above his head, with Wei Ying trying to jump up to catch him. A-Yuan was cry-laughing by now, his enjoyment too much to be contained within his small body.
Finally, they all three collapsed on the sofa, still trembles of laughter escaping from their lips.
"That was a tie!" Wei Ying declared proudly.
"Wei Ying is a cheater!" Lan Zhan said right back to the shameless man. "A-Yuan won, fair and square."
"Alright, alright...A-Yuan is the winner..." Wei Ying backtracked. He was lying with his head in Lan Zhan’s lap, while the latter cradled a sleepy baby.
All three were dozing when Wen Qing entered with Wen Ning.
"So what was so urgent that you couldn't tell us over the phone?" She said in a normal voice, jolting Wei Ying out of slumber and he would have ended up on the floor if not for Lan Zhan’s fast reflexes.
Luckily, A-Yuan stayed asleep.
The demon doctor's face softened briefly when she saw the way Lan Zhan was holding the toddler, so close to his chest protectively.
"Er...so we're getting married!" Wei Ying stood up and threw himself into her arms.
"What?" She was genuinely surprised. "You're engaged? That soon?"
"Congratulations, both of you." Wen Ning said quickly in between their conversation. He took off his leather jacket and his tattoos stood out against his pale skin.
Lan Zhan thought about getting a tattoo too.
"We both know there'll never be anyone else for us. He's it for me, A-Qing..." the depth of emotion in Wei Ying's voice had Lan Zhan swallowing hard.
As usual, he was right on the money.
Wei Ying was "it" for him too. There could never be anyone else he would love as much as him, of that, he was more than certain.
The Demon Doctor scowled first and grabbed Wei Ying’s arm to drag him outside of the room, but the way she was shouting, Lan Zhan wondered why she even bothered.
"ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THIS, WEI WUXIAN? YOU BETTER BE, BECAUSE LET ME TELL YOU, I WON'T ALWAYS BE AROUND TO PICK UP THE PIECES!" She yelled.
It was only slightly muffled through the walls.
Wen Ning smiled uncomfortably at Lan Zhan, who was glaring back because he still hadn't forgotten that day at his house where Wen Ning was lifting more than him.
There was the sound of muffled whispering outside, and then five minutes later, Wen Qing marched right back in, heading straight for Lan Zhan.
"You BETTER LOOK AFTER HIM!" She hissed, jabbing him in the chest. She was whisper shouting, always mindful of the sleeping child.
Lan Zhan could only nod. He was glad his own elder brother had a much more even temperament.
Imagine having to grow up with that...
He would have felt sorry for Wen Ning...but muscles...
"ANYWAY, CONGRATULATIONS!" She hissed some more and then quietly went to sit by her brother.
Wei Ying returned to Lan Zhan and sat as close to him as possible, reaching for his free hand as soon as he was comfortable.
"So we're holding a sort of housewarming slash engagement party on Sunday...can you both make it?" Wei Ying asked.
Lan Zhan was quite mystified at their dynamics. Had anyone shouted at him like that, if anyone had the guts to, he was pretty sure his recovery time would have been longer. But Wei Ying appeared as right as rain.
He was chatting amicably as if only seconds ago, Wen Qing hadn't been unleashing her fine personality upon him.
Wen Qing flipped open her phone and checked her calendar at the same time as Wen Ning was nodding.
"Oh good, I'll pick you up." She was telling him.
"Great, then that's settled." Wei Ying smiled.
**********
Talking loud and clear
Saying just what I feel
Lying in the grass
With the sun on our backs
It doesn't really matter
What we do or what we say
With every little movement
We give ourselves away
Opposite and opposite
Decisions are reversed
Facing one another
With words that couldn't hurt
With every little word
You're getting closer to me
Talking loud and clear
Saying just what we feel today
Talking loud and clear
Saying just what we feel
Lying in the grass
We've got time on our hands
Body next to body
With silence all around
We understand each other
But didn't make a sound
Promises and promises
Of vows we shall return
Facing one another
I thought my heart would burn
You turn to move away
But then get closer to me
Talking loud and clear
Saying just what we feel today...
Wei Ying opened his eyes when the song finished.
It was a peaceful one, but every word resonated in his heart. His head was still in Lan Zhan’s lap and those golden eyes were full of love, just staring down at him. Wei Ying leaned up just as Lan Zhan leaned down, their lips meeting in the sweetest of kisses.
Just the fact that they had this, that Wei Ying could kiss Lan Zhan whenever he wanted to...that was magic right there.
Their magic, something exclusive to just them.
"It's time for dinner." Lan Zhan was saying.
Wei Ying only then noticed that he wasn't wearing the same clothes as earlier in the day.
Lan Zhan was wearing a pale grey suit.
Wei Ying’s mouth was drier than the Sahara. He grabbed Lan Zhan’s grey tie and pulled his face closer.
"Promise me you will keep this on tonight..." He whispered fiercely.
"Mn. As you wish."
"And roll up your sleeves too?" Wei Ying asked this hopefully...his Christmas had come early...
Lan Zhan huffed out a fond laugh.
"As you wish."
"Is that from the Princess Bride?" Wei Ying wondered.
"Mn." Lan Zhan looked so proud of him.
Wei Ying cooed, delighted with this.
"I love you too." He whispered against eager lips.
"Wei Ying has to get dressed. The children are ready and waiting downstairs." He added.
"But...weren't we supposed to go and get him from school...together?" Wei Ying frowned at him.
Lan Zhan teased away the crease between his brows with his thumb.
"Wei Ying does not wake easily. Shaking does not work, talking to him, does not work..." He was putting a finger down for all his different attempts.
Wei Ying blushed.
"Nonsense...I woke up when you kissed me." He denied the silent accusation.
"Mn. Will kiss Wei Ying awake like Sleeping Beauty."
"Lan Zhaaaan!" He wailed.
Lan Zhan merely kissed his forehead and smacked his bottom, propelling him towards the bathroom where his suit was hanging up, ready to wear.
He dressed fast, and in ten minutes he was walking out of the bathroom like a designer model strutting his stuff. He saw Lan Zhan wielding a hairbrush and his ribbon like a sword and its scabbard.
Wei Ying pouted and got a quick kiss in return before Lan Zhan pushed him onto the chair in front of their dresser.
Tonight, Lan Zhan opted for quick and easy. He carefully gathered all of Wei Ying's hair and tied it into his signature ponytail. He was aware that Wei Ying was looking at him in the mirror, in fact, not even once did he look away.
There must be a word, he thought, for what he could see reflected in Wei Ying’s eyes. It was more than love, though that was certainly there. But it was mixed with concentration and contentment, as if all he needed now was right in front of him. It was making his ears hot.
He finished tying the red ribbon in a bow and left the long ends free.
"Now Wei Ying is ready." He said, satisfied because it was true.
Wei Ying stood up and snuck his arms around Lan Zhan’s neck, wriggling closer so that Lan Zhan had to hold his slim waist steady. He left his big palms there and Wei Ying shivered, feeling the heat through his thin dress shirt.
"So...I was thinking...you know we are currently going out to celebrate with the children?" He said, deepening his voice on purpose and smiling when Lan Zhan’s eyes became impossibly darker as desire took root, his nostrils flaring with this fragrance, a mix of lotus flowers and sandalwood.
"Mn?" Lan Zhan really couldn't think right now.
It was terribly unfair of Wei Ying to think he was capable of doing that, when his lips were right there, so close...and since Lan Zhan had the whole package in his arms, thinking was a distant ability now.
Wei Ying came even closer, his lips a hair's breadth away.
Lan Zhan could feel the warmth of his breath as he spoke.
"And after that...Lan Er-Gege...my Lan Zhan...what if I say that we should have our own little celebration, huh?"
Lan Zhan could only nod slowly, mesmerised by the little silver specks in those diamond eyes, watching his every reaction. All of his senses were kidnapped by this mischievous man, a stealer of hearts but not just any...only his heart. Wei Ying was a robber and a thief, without even trying...but the irony was that Lan Zhan had given him his heart freely and openly.
All of his heart and soul belonged to Wei Ying and Lan Zhan wouldn't have it any other way.
"That's alright, then! Just checking!" And with a hard slap to Lan Zhan’s bottom, the little minx ran off laughing.
Lan Zhan had to wait for a few minutes to calm himself, his backside still stinging from the heat caused by Wei Ying’s palm.
Well...maybe not tonight because Lan Zhan was invested in tonight, but certainly soon, there was going to be payback.
And Wei Ying wouldn't know what hit him...
************
Lan Zhan picked a fancy pants restaurant.
Wei Ying should have known from the way they were all dressed in such fine clothes; Lan Zhan was wearing a pearl grey suit with a matching tie and cream silk shirt, and he had picked out a black suit for Wei Ying with a scarlet silk shirt. The children were a little more casual with just nice shirt and trousers.
Wei Ying cooed over how adorable both Mo XuanYu and A-Yuan looked, enthusiastically kissing their cheeks with delight.
They had eaten out a few times now as a family and while Lan Zhan remained the quietest one of the four, it was definitely more relaxed as the children were encouraged to ask questions if they wanted to.
The conversation drifted between Mo XuanYu's day at school and the revelation of Wei Ying's new found fortune, though that last part was in hushed tones. Wei Ying still had a hard time wrapping his head around that, but he thought it was important that they as a family were aware of what was happening in their little circle.
Then Wei Ying covered Lan Zhan’s hand with his own.
"And...um...lastly, Lan Zhan and I...we have something to tell you both." He said, his eyes shining brightly.
They were waiting for dessert now, and both kids were looking at them eagerly, wondering what it could be.
"We are going to be married."
Mo XuanYu smiled so wide, so happily that Wei Ying half thought he was going to accidentally dislocate his jaw. He stood up and hugged both of them.
"Congratulations!" He said, joy etched on his young face. He kissed their cheeks too, and A-Yuan, who had been watching him like a squirrel in fall collecting nuts for the winter, demanded to do the same.
"And...I...we were wondering if you want to call us something else." Wei Ying said, looking at A-Yu now.
"I know! I know!" A-Yuan said, standing on his chair. "Can I say it? Pwease?"
"Go on then." Wei Ying beamed at him.
"Dat's Baba and dat's A-Die!" A-Yuan pointed at them respectively and then clapped his pudgy hands together in excitement. "Yay!" He would have jumped up and down too but the chair wasn't the most stable of surfaces and Lan Zhan was making sure he didn't fall and hurt himself.
Wei Ying blushed.
"Only if you want to, that is!" He hurried to reassure them.
"I do!" Mo XuanYu said, enthusiastically. "I've never had a Baba or a A-Die before...and I didn’t want to call either of you dad." He made a face.
Lan Zhan thought it was brave of him to admit that. The boy must have been thinking about what to call them all this time...now he knew.
Their desserts arrived and the rest of the time was spent enjoying the end of their meal.
They sat and talked for hours and before they knew it, the restaurant started closing their lights. Wei Ying giggled because it must have been expensive since no prices at all were on the menu, and he didn't feel bad at all for taking longer than their meal actually lasted.
A-Yuan fell asleep on Lan Zhan’s shoulder and JingYi was waiting by the car to open the door; Mo XuanYu fell asleep on the way home.
Their parents picked up one kid each and carried them to their room. They worked together to change their clothes and tuck them in to sleep.
Then Wei Ying led Lan Zhan back to their room. He brought Lan Zhan all the way to their bed and pushed his shoulders down so Lan Zhan had to sit. But before he could run off, Lan Zhan grabbed his hips and pulled him close.
"Is it time for my present now?" He asked, a golden fire burning in those lustful eyes.
"Yes it is. Now be a good boy and do what you promised." Wei Ying bent down and kissed his eager lips, always, always thirsting for more.
"As you wish." Lan Zhan shrugged off his jacket and undid the cufflinks as Wei Ying strode towards the bathroom.
With precise movements, Lan Zhan efficiently rolled up his sleeves so that his forearms were exposed. He glanced at them, obviously not seeing whatever it was that Wei Ying saw, because he had often seen that hungry look in Wei Ying's eyes as if he wanted to bite him there...
At the very least, lick...
Lan Zhan...was not opposed.
He wondered what it would feel like and suddenly, he felt extremely hot. His long, pale finger eased its way into the knot of his tie and loosened it. But he left it on because he had promised.
The door to the bathroom opened, and Wei Ying came out.
Not just any Wei Ying...his Wei Ying.
And Gods! What was he wearing?
Did he want to kill Lan Zhan?
It certainly seemed that way.
He was wearing a crimson embroidered organza robe, meant to be worn over a matching hanfu...but Wei Ying had not bothered with the hanfu part.
It was a completely sheer robe with hand embroidered dragons sewn in delicate beadwork, the heads of the two dragons resting upon Wei Ying’s chest so his private parts were concealed.
And as he drifted closer, Lan Zhan realised that the hanfu wasn't all he had ditched.
There were no trousers.
No trousers...
Wei Ying came to a stop right in front of him.
Holding all the power of a magnificent sorcerer, his eyes flashed red as the beads reflected in his eyes, and he studied Lan Zhan’s appearance. His smile grew when he saw the tie pulled away from his neck, the top button on that silk shirt undone revealing his delicious collarbone.
Wei Ying’s eyes drifted down past an uneven lap to where Lan Zhan’s arms rested, as promised, bare and rippling with hidden strength.
"That outfit should be illegal." Lan Zhan muttered. He didn't think his eyes had blinked once since Wei Ying had made his sultry entrance.
Wei Ying gave out a delighted laugh, performing a slow twirl for Lan Zhan.
The crisp fabric clung to every curve, molding to his curvaceous backside where the tails of the dragons met.
Lan Zhan was quite sure that whoever designed it never would have imagined it being worn in this way.
When Wei Ying turned around, Lan Zhan grabbed him and threw him onto their bed. His body was vibrating with need and with a single swipe of his hand, the catch was open and all of Wei Ying was spread out before him.
Wei Ying shivered under the hottest gaze of a man who wanted nothing but to bring him to new heights of pleasure. He whined when Lan Zhan took his time, just staring at him.
Lan Zhan felt so lucky...it was indescribable.
And what to taste first?
He bent to kiss Wei Ying first, and in that single movement, he used it as a distraction to whip off his tie and use it to handcuff Wei Ying to their headboard. Wei Ying wasn't even aware of what had happened and now he couldn’t move.
His silver eyes flared with a nameless desire as need coarsed through his veins.
And then, Lan Zhan pounced.

A/N
Dear wonderfully patient readers,
I am fully aware that the video accompanying the song doesn't match at all and is downright creepy in some ways, but please listen to the actual words. It's a lovely song for two people lying in the grass on a warm day, with no troubles to hinder them.
Tell me what you think...and exciting news is that courtesy of my Bestie, I found the first dance song. I'm going to surprise you all when that happens but it's perfect.
We had a half day at work today so please enjoy an extra long update earlier than normal.
Thank you all for reading!
Charlie.
