chapter eighteen

"good morning Jungwoo!" Hera greeted him.

"g-good morning m-mom." Jungwoo replied with a smile.

"you want to help me?" Hera asked, making an eye contact.

"O-okay. What s-should I do?" Jungwoo fiddled with his fingers.

"cut these vegetables." Hera said.

"b-but how?" Jungwoo asked nervously.

Hera showed Jungwoo how to slice and he learned how to do it.

"be careful. okay?" Hera said and she patted Jungwoo's back.

After few minutes, they heard the doorbell.

Jungwoo went to open the door and he saw a delivery man holding a box.

"are you Jungwoo?" the guy asked and Jungwoo nodded.

"This is for you." the guy lend him the small box.

Jungwoo grabbed it and the guy left without saying anything.

"Jungwoo? who's that?" Hera asked curiosly and she walked towards him.

"A g-guy gave me t-this." Jungwoo said and he opened the box.

When he saw what's inside, he throw the box away from him.

"What's that?" Hera asked, confused.

Jungwoo didn't answer but his eyes were brimming with tears and he sat on the floor.

Lucas came down from his room and his eyes widened when he looked at Jungwoo who is crying.

"hey, what happened?" Lucas spoke softly while sitting infront of Jungwoo.

"who will give you this and who knows that you live here?" Hera asked and she clutched the box.

"what's that box mom?" Lucas asked.

Hera gave him the box and he gasped. It was a bear and a dagger stabbed in its chest with fake blood.

Lucas noticed a folded paper so he grabbed it. He unfold the paper and he read it.

"Surprised Jungwoo? this is me your real MOM, Happy birthday! see you soon."

"it's your birthday today?" Lucas asked.

"I d-didn't even realize i-it's my birthday t-today." Jungwoo said and his body was trembling.

Lucas wiped the other male's tears and he rubbed his back softly.

"Well, forget about that box." Hera said and he looked at the two boys.

"let's eat." Hera said and they went to the kitchen.

"we need to celebrate your birthday but I have an important work to do. I'll make it up to you." Hera said with a smile.

"y-you don't need t-to." Jungwoo said softly.

After few minutes, they went silent but Lucas broke it.

"I've got a plan." Lucas said and he smiled.

"really?" Hera asked while making an eye contact with her son. Lucas gave her a small smile and he stood up since they were done eating.

"Mom you can go to your work, I'll take care of him." Lucas assured her and he grabbed Jungwoo's arm. He pulled him lightly to his room.

"Let's get you ready. we are going to the amusement park." Lucas said with a smile.

Jungwoo's eyes sparkled when he heard the word 'amusement park'.

"r-really?" Jungwoo asked.

"Well it's your birthday. We need to celebrate it." Lucas said with a smile.

"you'll waste your m-money for m-me? you d-" Jungwoo's sentence was cut by Lucas.

"I don't care about the money, I care about you and your happiness. I don't want to see you sad." Lucas said.

Jungwoo's heart fluttered at the younger's words and his face heated.

Jungwoo buried his face on Lucas' pillow and the other male chuckled at Jungwoo's cuteness.
