"Are those?" I questioned looking at the papers in his hands, my own hands shook, trembling at the sight of what I knew very well. "Mister Beau, you've been served." The man stated as I gulped down hard, this wasn't happening yet it was, I could feel it, —I knew it would come to this but not so soon, why so soon, I thought we had time, to fix us, to fix things.
"Dad, —are you okay?" Klein asked as he came to the door and I nodded making myself strong or appear as much for my son, he couldn't watch me break down, I couldn't have all this affect him. "I'm fine sweetheart, why don't you get inside, get some cookies for me and you and you tell me about that book you read." I tried, goading him into believing I was okay, but he was Klein, despite not being biological mine he'd picked up on my behavioral traits, he knew more than he let on, incredibly smart, it was almost annoying.
"Only if you tell me you're okay." He argued and I scoffed coming over to hug him. "I promise, —I'm okay." I hated lying to him, I wasn't okay, but I had to keep it together, I had to be strong for my children despite how I wanted to just fall to my knees, curl into a ball and cry, my marriage was over, it had fallen apart already, this was just the final nail to the coffin. "Okay dad, then come on." Klein stated with a smile and I nodded following him back into the house, I was very well going to lose everything but at least I had my children, they were all the treasure I'd ever need, I was grateful in a way for that blessing alone.
Ceres Beau.
"But I don't want to go to work." Gavin whined as I dragged him down to the kitchen, he had already slept in way past his normal schedule, I had actually taken the kids to school, did my grocery shopping and came back with him still knocked out in my bed, how he got in there, I have no idea. "Gavin I can't have you whining like this when you've slept for nearly twelve or thirteen hours." I chided as he groaned and plopped down on one of the chairs by the breakfast bar. "I want more sleep, I hadn't had that kind of good sleep in a while, I needed it." He rebuked and I rolled my eyes at his antics.
"I know you're tired, which is why I asked your manager to handle things today, so you'll get a free day, but it doesn't mean I'll let you sleep in, —you have to eat, shower, maybe exercise then sleep." I stated and he scoffed then drank his coffee. "What?" I asked and he gave me that sly smirk. "Oh nothing, I just remembered the times you used to dote on me like this, from highschool, to college, I have never worn something out of place or wrinkly with you around, you always took care of me." He replied and my heart melted. "Gavin, —." I whined and awed coming to his side and hugging him.
"You're only this mushy and sensitive when you're tired or horny, with the rarity of you actually just meaning it." I exclaimed and he tensed up in our hug. "Was it that obvious?" He retorted and we both laughed. "How about all three, I missed you angel baby." He explained and that I truly believed. "I'm always here for you, despite how busy we get, —now come on, eat your brunch, I'll make you a protein shake after or a smoothie, maybe both after." I asserted and he chuckled digging into his food, the moan was all I needed to know that he was enjoying his food.
"I should've come here sooner." He muttered and I chuckled lowly with a smile. "Damn right you should have." I added as I placed more sunny side up eggs on his plate. "So you want to go wrestling kit shopping with the boys?" I asked and he hummed. "Wait, how many kits for the sports they randomly join have we bought now?" Gavin asked and I had honestly forgotten, Harry and my son had a thing for doing random sports as long as they were in season, it worried me at times if they would ever just stick to one sport. "No idea at this point and I don't mind as long as their report cards come with shining Aces." I stated dismissively and Gavin made a sound akin to acknowledgement.
My phone rang as Gavin finished his food going for the smoothie I had finished making, grabbing my phone I answered knowing it was Maya's number. "Maya, anything wrong?" I asked right then because Maya didn't necessarily call. "Yes, um boss, —there's a mister Deklan Teso here, he says he's been sent by your brother and mister Tempest as a consultant for KleinTech." She explained and I wondered why that was a problem, until I realized, I had told Maya to cancel all my meetings and appointments, therefore whoever this Deklan was, —he wasn't supposed to be there. "He's refusing to leave sir, I told him that you weren't available, he's insisting to meet you, and won't take no, for an answer." Maya explained as she hissed toward the man, I knew it was meant for him even if I wasn't there.
"Okay Maya, I'm on my way, I'll come sort it out." I told her and she sighed. "Of course Ceres." She replied as I noticed Gavin slightly dressed to perfection, his hair was a mess as he walked up to me. "What happened?" I demanded as his face fell. "She's in hospital and I don't think its good, the hospital called me since they couldn't reach her family." He explained and I knew this was about his wife, she was in hospital again. "I have to go to the office so you can just drop me off along the way." I told him and it seemed to surprise him. "I'm your best friend Gavin, we both do things we both know we'll regret later but it's in the support that makes us what we are to each other." I told him and he nodded with a smile.
"Thanks angel baby." He whispered as I patted his cheek and went to grab what I needed, I knew Gavin was cautious about the topic of his wife since he knew I didn't like talking about it at times or how he ran to her every time she got into trouble, but remove all the messiness of our lives, he was my priority and I'd support him anyway and then try gently berate him later.
"Are you sure you'll be okay, I can just postpone this meeting and we go together." I suggested and Gavin shook his head in refusal. "You've already helped enough, I slept good, had an awesome breakfast, Harry has been raving about his new phone all morning and I am driving your BMW so lets just say I can do this one on my own." He reassured and I snickered but accepted his words. "Take care of yourself." Gavin ordered as he placed a kiss on my cheek, it was sweet since I had to lean up and he had to come lower, damn his ridiculous height.
I got into the private elevator my mood shifting into an annoyed one, who was this Deklan, couldn't he have just waited till tomorrow rather than ruining a good day for me at home with my family. "Maya, where is he?" I grumbled as the evelator opened on the floor with my office and my assistant was by the doors. "In the boardroom Ceres, still waiting." She replied and I nodded walking toward the boardroom, despite being annoyed when my eyes met those of the man in the board room, I had to hold down a gasp.
He was really fit, really good looking, from his suit to his hair and his perfect picture stature, he oozed dominant confidence with his smug smirk. I knew I had to be careful about him right then. "Mister Teso, I presume." I stated as he stood up and smiled. "Oh my, forgive me, when Tempest told me that you were extremely exquisite I should've believed him, and yes I am Deklan Teso, business consultant —mister Tempest assigned me to help you out with reviving the company you just bought." He replied, his charm unmistakable like his apparent lack of tact.
"A pleasure mister Deklan Teso, but put aside the pleasantries, I hear you refused to see me tomorrow, I would like to know why and what was so important that it couldn't wait." I hissed lightly and it seemed to rile him up even more, this man was going to be a problem. "I believe all good business shouldn't be post poned, my work ethic doesn't allow me to slack around especially when I have clients as prominent as the Tempest's, Lamont's and Beau's, I only needed an hour, to go over the plan with you." He explained and I admired his work ethic but because it had impeded on my day, he wasn't getting on my good side.
"Very well this certainly better be good, Maya." I replied nodding to my assistant who sat down and we began the meeting. An hour later we were done, half his plan I had approved and half he was going to redo. "You are a hard man to please, but I live to satisfy, so I'll do my best to make sure you're satisfied mister Beau." Deklan stated and I rolled my eyes, I stood to shake his hand but he took mine and kissed it. "A pleasure to be working with you, mister Beau." He stated and I nodded with a slight smile taking my hand back.
"That is the perfect example of what a self centered, conceited man is like." I stated after Deklan was gone making Maya laugh. "I have to say, despite his rough edges and his high horse manner, he's got an appeal." She retorted and we both chuckled, she was right. "Yeah, he's easy on the ey—." I couldn't finish as my phone rang and I quickly answered without checking. "Hello." I muttered. "Is this Ceres Beau?" The lady on the other side asked. "Yes, speaking, —,you are?" I questioned. "This is North City Central Hospital, we have a patient who requested to see you." She explained and my heart seemed to beat faster, this couldn't be good.
