I hear a symphony

"These tacos are great!" Adora exclaimed in between chewing, covering her mouth with the taco itself.
The brunette could just laugh at her childish way of devouring it.
"They are" she added, before putting hers back in the paper plate and fastly cleaning up her hands with the napkins they were given.
"...but something is missing..." She said, taking the AirPods from her bag and giving one to the puzzled roommate.
"A good soundtrack." Catra explained, while the blonde cleaned her hands to take the AirPod.
Adora smiled and put it in her ear, ready to listen to the brunette's very thoughtfully made playlist.
Dopamine by BØRNS, Sex money feelings die by Lykke Li, Cigarette Daydreams by Cage the elephant, Sundress by A$AP Rocky, Sommertime in Paris by Jaden and Willow, Unlove by Lyle Kam, Spiderhead by Cage the elephant, Remember that night by Sara Kays...there were many, which garanted a quiet and viby atmosphere.
The girls listened to it silently, attempting little dances, smiling at each other, eating their tacos and just enjoining that night, that moment.
For a brief minute, they were together, reconnected, free from their past and more alive than they ever could.
Adora dreamily looked at Catra, who was colletting their garbage, mouthing the lyrics of the song they were listening, she was so pretty and relaxed...it all felt so light and spontaneous...Adora took the brunette's hand, who looked at her a little confused, but stood up as her friend did...than the latina found herself in her loving arms, swinging from side to side, not really following the rhythm of Ode to the Mets by the Strokes, but to a basic and romantic motion the blondie had set.
Unfortunately, Monsters by All Time Low and blackbear followed and, for how much Catra loved that song, it wasn't romantic at all, and her roommate had to agree because she broke their warm hug and chuckled.
"Give me your phone, it's my turn to chose the playlist now." She demanded, with a soft smile.
The brunette unwillingly obeyed and put her precious blackbox in the girl's hands, who rapidly figured out the code and started looking around in the Spotify app.
"When did you learn my code?" Catra wondered pouting, but she laughed lightly and rolled her eyes.
"I know all your passwords, dummy." Adora underlined the obvious.

The brunette might have thought to be the smartest, but she was just awful when it came about passwords, eventually going for the usual five: her favourite number, her birth day, their birthdays combined, her favourite food or the name they wanted to give to their future cat, Melog.

Catra snorted.
In a couple of seconds the blonde grinned widely and put the phone in her back pocket, as her playlist started.
Dancing in the moonlight, the one that had been their song since forever, the one that they would have jammed to in their room, showing off their worst performances, but laughing lightheartedly  like there was no harm in the world.
The brunette looked at her in disbelief, shaking her head, unable to hold back a smile to the goofy and involving roommate, who tried to drag her in her choreography.
And she managed to.
They pushed and pulled, trying their best to be coordinated, pirouetting and swinging, tripping in their steps and laughing at each other, mouthing the lyric.

"Dancing in the moonlight
Everybodys feeling warm and bright
Its such a fine and natural sight
Everybodys dancing in the moonlight

We like our fun and we never fight
You cant dance and stay uptight
Its a supernatural delight
Everybody was dancing in the moonlight"

How stupid of Adora choosing that song.

"We get in on most every night
And when that moon is big and bright
Its a supernatural delight
Everybodys dancing in the moonlight

Dancing in the moonlight
Everybodys feeling warm and bright
Its such a fine and natural sight
Everybodys dancing in the moonlight..."

It was so fun tho and it ended with the two of them laughing, slightly embracing each other.
The next melody was slower, Catra didn't knew it, but Adora soon recognised it and hold her hand, pulling their bodies closer in a quite dance.

"Don't wanna be forward
Don't wanna cross a line
But if I were to crash in this plane tonight
I'd want you to know this

Don't wanna say too much
Intrude on your space
But if I were to crash and I never made it home
I'd want you to know this"

The brunette didn't stiffen, although any thought paralysed as she let the old friend lead them, even spin her in some more elaborate, yet simple, movement.

"Oh, and to tell you is too scary
So I'll just say something else
And I wish that you could hear me
When I talk to myself
But this plane might not land safely
So, what the hell do I have to lose
If I just tell you?"

Adora eyes closed, the hint of a quite smile lingering on her lips, any relaxed sigh blowing warm air on Catra's face.

"I wanna eat pancakes for dinner
I wanna get stuck in your head
I wanna watch a T.V. show together
And when we're under the weather we can watch it in bed
I wanna go out on the weekends
I wanna dress up just to get undressed

I think that I should probably tell you this
In case there is an accident
And I never see you again
So please save all your questions for the end
And maybe I'll be brave enough by then"

Why did her smile have to be so endearing as she mouthed the refrain?

"Don't wanna say something wrong
Don't wanna be weird
But if you're still in love with her
I think that I'll leave it there
And I won't ever tell you this

Oh, 'cause to tell you is too scary
So I'll just say something else
Like how was fall semester?
And what was that song about?
I'll try to hide the way I feel
But I'll just wanna shout
What do I have to lose right now?"

Sometimes the blonde would have even tightened the grip on the girl's waist, or stroked the thumb onto her knuckles.

" I wanna eat pancakes for dinner
I wanna get stuck in your head
I wanna watch a T.V. show together
And when we're under the weather we can watch it in bed
I wanna go out on the weekends
I wanna dress up just to get undressed

I think that I should probably tell you this
In case there is an accident
And I never see you again
So please save all your questions for the end
And maybe I'll be brave enough by then"

That was a silly, cheesy song, just like the girl who chose it.

"Well, maybe I won't ever say what's in my head
No, I won't have to say anything
You'll say it instead"

As the next song started, as much slow and quite, if not romantic, Catra decided for a truce with herself and the girl who was embracing her.
If her-fifteen-years-old-self would have seen such a scene, she would have given everything for it...that was just like she imagined their perfect future.
As far as it might had been from the reality, the brunette was drunk enough to just enjoy her life-long crush dancing with her so dearly.
So, letting all those emotions resurface again after years, feeling her heart almost aching for how fast it was beating, ever so aware of Adora's body pressed to hers, Catra leaned in, nuzzling against her neck.
The blonde gasped at first, then giggled while hugging her as much as she could.

"I think that possibly
Maybe I'm falling for you
Yes, there's a chance that I've fallen quite hard over you
I've seen the paths that your eyes wander down
I want to come too

I think that possibly
Maybe I'm falling for you
No one understands me quite like you do
Through all of the shadowy corners of me"

Catra was incredulous as she felt that Adora dared to kiss her hair. It felt so intimate, despite being such a innocent thing.

"I never knew just what it was about this old coffee shop I love so much
All of the while I never knew
I never knew just what it was about this old coffee shop I love so much
All of the while I never knew

I think that possibly
Maybe I'm falling for you
Yes there's a chance that I've fallen quite hard over you
I've seen the waters that make your eyes shine
Now I'm shining too"

Catra slowly moved her head higher, Adora's lips were now lingering on the skin of her temple and next to her blue eye.
"You alright?" The blonde wondered in a whisper, preoccupied that so much affection was upsetting her roommate, rather then amuse her.

"Because oh because
I've fallen quite hard over you
If I didn't know you I'd rather not know
If I couldn't have you I'd rather be alone"

The brunette nodded, sighing in pleasure as she enjoyed the familiar warmth, the perfume and touch.
"More pecks." She mumbled, her lips brushing just under Adora's jaw.
Shivers ran down the blonde's spine and more kiss were landed on Catra's temple, cheeks, ear and forehead.
That was so comforting that undefined sounds escaped from the brunette's throat, almost resembling purrs.

"I never knew just what it was about this old coffee shop I love so much
All of the while I never knew
I never knew just what it was about this old coffee shop I love so much
All of the while I never knew
All of the while
All of the while it was you"

Catra eagered more, slowly raising her face in front of Adora, to give her full access to her skin, keeping the mismatched eyes closed.
The blonde obligated, kissing her forehead, her eyelids, her nose, her cheeks and her chin.

"You
You
You"

When Adora left a last little kiss on the tip of her nose, before colliding their foreheads, Catra made up her mind.
Holding on all the courage she has ever had, on the liquid one fluting in her veins, the brunette moved forward, brushing her lips against the girl's rosy ones.
Adora gasped, tightening her grip once again, keeping her close to her.
Feeling pushed toward her roommate, a spark of hope inflamed in Catra's chest and she leaned in again, kissing her more determinately.
And the blonde kissed her back, melting in that touch.

"I used to hear a simple song
That was until you came along
Now in its place is somethin' new
I hear it when I look at you

With simple songs, I wanted more
Perfection is so quick to bore
You are my beautiful, by far
Our flaws are who we really are

I used to hear a simple song
That was until you came along
You took my broken melody
And now, I hear a symphony

And now, I hear
A symphony"
