I.
Paperwork was sprawled out all over Stiles' desk as on pen dangled between his fingers while another rested behind his ear.
Stiles hadn't let the pack throwing him out stop him from succeeding. He joined the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI with the help of his uncle, Jason Gideon Stilinski -he'd changed his last name so no one would track down his younger brother and nephew and hurt them. He'd gotten a PhD in Criminology. And he'd met the love of his life and had a beautiful daughter. He had a new and amazing family who he loved and who loved him.
"You okay, Stiles?"
The man turned to see three of his teammates and closest friends looking at him. Derek Morgan, Spencer Reid and Emily Prentiss. Stiles looked over to Spencer, the one who's spoken. "I'm fine Spencer. Why do you ask?"
"You zoned out kid."
The agent's eyes flickered over to Emily who nodded at Derek's statement. "Just thinking about how lucky I am to have you guys."
They all smiled at him as they started chuckling. In the BAU there were no secrets between the team. It was composed of eight members and six of them were profilers. They couldn't hide something because the others probably already knew. And there was really no reason to say anything because on matter how bad, they accepted each other.
Everyone knew about the rough patch where Spencer was on drugs, or when Stiles had a little trouble controlling his drinking but still adored the two youngest members of their team. They also knew about JJ's 'secret' relationship with New Orleans cop William Lamontagne Jr.
"We love you too Stiles." Emily grinned while the men all chuckled. They all started to turn. back to their paperwork but heard the voice of their favorite blonde.
"We've got a new case guys." JJ called walking towards the conference room.
Everyone shared a look and got up from behind their desk, some of them -Stiles- more dramatically then necessary earning laughs from his teammates. The four agents followed JJ into the conference room -or the round table room as Stiles had named it- taking their seats.
"What horrors got you for us today J?"
The blonde chuckled at the man who winked and pointed a finger gun at her while Hotchner, Rossi and Garcia joined.
"Finger guns?" Derek chuckled as Stiles shrugged with a lopsided grin.
Hotch looked between his agents in amusement but forever kept the scowl on his face. These people were family. They would all probably go insane if they didn't joke around like they did between cases with all the blood, gore and death they saw all the time. The psychos they put away were people straight of out horror movies and books.
"Okay, boys focus." JJ sent them a pointed to look to which both men raised their hands in a 'surrender' motion. "This one's not pretty." She turned on the screen and displayed a blonde haired woman smiling right next to her dead body. "Grace Hilliard. 27. She was missing for five days until they found her body mutilated and left in the local Preserve. There's evidence of sexual assault and.. uhm." JJ licked her lips and cleared her throat. "Her eyes were missing."
Everyone looked at their blonde colleague in shock. "Her eyes?" Emily repeated to be sure.
"Well, it is known that eyes are supposed to be the window to the soul." Spencer stated. "Maybe it's the unsub's way to not let anyone access their souls."
Stiles definitely hadn't lost his sarcasm over the years. "Great. We've got an unsub with a 'eye' fetish."
"She's the third woman to be found like this, all fit the M.O. This Unsub doesn't seem to have a particular type other then the fact that they're all women. No age or physical traits."
"How did they die?"
"Their throats we slit."
Everyone sighed. It was understatement to say their job was hard.
"Okay." Hotch got up. "Wheels up in 30."
"Wait, where are we going?"
The blonde agent looked at Stiles with apologetic eyes. "I'm sorry, Stiles. We're going to Beacon Hills."
Everyone looked over to the dark haired agent who signed. "Guys I'm fine." They all shot him a look but he cracked a smile. "Seriously. I mean, I've got an amazing work family, a beautiful wife, a brilliant daughter. I'm fine."
The team shared a look and nodded, convinced that he was alright. "Well then." Derek grinned. "Let's go to Beacon Hills."
